I've had similar experiences of Paranormal Activity. I watched the Conjuring before I ever watched Paranormal Activity movies. Never thought I would ever watch the Paranormal Activity movies. I have more experiences that relate to The Conjuring. 3 is a crazy number though, 3 knocks on the dorm room door at 3 am with no one in the hallway, walked into the empty dorm room and heard voices with no one there, my dorm room heard papers being shuffled through with no one in the room

The reason this was so scary compared to the sequels was described best by Roger Ebert, who loved this film: it's not how calm or extreme the events each night are, it's that the movie is made in a way where it makes it feel like real footage from our world, and something as simple as a door moving on it's own would terrify you in your house alone at night. The sequels made it clear that they were "movies" and went for jumpscares and spectacle, and it then feels like we are watching a scripted thing, which ruins that atmosphere.

It is so astounding how the Exorcist has affected so many people on such a deep level. What is it about that movie? I saw that movie on HBO when cable had just come out. I can't even explain how bad that movie messed me up. Forget about sleeping for a month and I had lost an appetite for a while. I lost weight! I guess you can say I was traumatized by it. Of course I've gotten over it. I'm in my 50s now. I can easily say it's one of my all-time favorite movies Horror genre. There are still scenes I cannot look at her face. I have to look away. And yes the picture of the girl's face on the wall behind Asia was messing with me big time. human psyche. total mystery.

There was a guy in our theater for this. His friends were teasing him that he was a body builder but got scared during movies. He was acting all tough saying he'd be fine, wouldn't get scared, didn't seem scary in the promos etc. When she got dragged out of the bed, he screamed "Ah hell no!" and jetted down the stairs and out the door. So instead of being scared at that part the whole theater was cracking up. It was a great experience.

This movie holds a very interesting record ... it only cost $15,000 to make and the actors made only $500 each ... BUT it made: $193,355,800 in theaters world-wide!! A profit of approximately $193,340,800!! So, when comparing budget to profit, it holds the record for as the most profitable film ever made. EDIT: I really hope that the entire cast and crew got several nice and shocking bonus cheques!! They sure as hell should have.

I never leave a door open if I can have it closed to begin with, but if this stuff started happening, and I couldn't up and move, you know damn well every door in the house is gonna be closed and locked if possible. Woke up, looked around...went back to sleep. Again hands...got a bit angry.... Went back to sleep, and a slap woke me up... So angry, i got up and said, you either kill me, or f off! But if you kill me, i'll follow you in hell, and f u up... No more problems... Perhaps, sounds funny...but, it wasn't...

Asia's rules for safety 1. Shut the door. 2. Tuck your toes. 🥰 Pretty incredible that the budget for this film was around $15,000 and during the same year another horror, 1408 with Samuel L Jackson and John Cusack had a budget around $25 million. Both are great horrors, but it really goes to show that sometimes, less is more and what's left to our imagination is always more terrifying than anything they show us on the screen. A great achievement for a film to be so good on such a minimal budget. When I saw this on the big screen, I spent most of the time looking at the clock in the corner cos as the tension ramped up ... my nerves just couldn't take it.😝

This movie was complete horror film fan labor of love. It was shot on a shoestring budget and before it came to theaters, the makers asked fans to petition their local theaters to have it brought in for a screening. I was part of the group that made sure it was brought to Houston so it could be screened. It finally got a very limited release in select theaters and it got so popular through internet petitions and word of mouth, it finally got a nationwide release. It got such a positive reception everywhere that the creators decided to make sequels. Anyway, loved your reaction to it!

I figured Asia would probably get scared at some things, and I wasn’t sure if it would be BJ’s jam, but I was really hoping you’d both like it and find it scary. That movie was made 17 years ago. It was just a little film that we all believed in so much, it truly humbles me to see reactions like this. Thank you both for being you and entertaining me as much as I hope we entertained you. Keep those reactions coming and remember to tuck your toes! 👻

I've had one experience that was paranormal. I was about 35yo. My dad had died, and I was lying face down on my bed crying and inconsolable for 15 minutes. I then felt a reassuring pat/rub on my back that lasted about 3 seconds. I was alone in my house. I can't explain it. I did love my dad. I'm 60 now and still miss him.

Every now and then you get a scary/horror movie that just captures everything you want to see and feel. The eerie atmosphere, the intense build up, the characters developing changing mood and emotions etc. this movie just had everything without ever going over the top or cheesy. When this movie got released, everyone in the theathers were going crazy. Every aspect in this movie came over so realistic with people witnessing paranormal activity nowadays. Thanks for the movie reaction and happy Halloween Asia and BJ. 👻🎃🔪

This and the Blair Witch Project began the 'Found Footage' movie genre. When it first came out the producer etc., had already sequestered the actors and crew; and they had to sign A Non Disclosure' contract. They were hidden, and seen nowhere; and were forbidden to do interviews. That, and the lack of ending credits, had sooo many people thinking it MUST be real! Me included, lol. It was the talk of the country for moviegoers. The buzz and hype was amazing! The film itself was done for peanuts financially, yet made Blockbuster movie-type millions. Great fun watching your reactions, and poor Asia was about to break a knuckle, her fingers were so rigid and crossed up over her eyes!

I need to actually watch the theatrical version one day. I've only seen the screener version with the original ending. its very different then here. in the original ending, she "stomps" back up stairs like here, but instead of throwing his body at the camera, she just walks in by herself, covered in blood, a knife in her hand and sits next to the bed. then it proceeds to fast-forward through the day, and the entire time she is just sitting next to the bed, rocking. it stops FFing a couple times like when the phone rings, etc, then resumes. later that evening you hear her friend come in. she's calling out to katie, then she screams and you hear her run out the door. a little later the cops show up. you hear them down stairs, calling out to anyone, then they come up the stairs. they see katie and train their flashlights one her. this is when she seems to snap out of it. she stands up, all confused, asking what happened, where Micah was. and she starts walking toward them, knife still in her hand. they start yelling at her to drops the knife, but she's obviously confused. then, the ghost slams one of the doors down the hall and this spooks the cops enough they start shooting katie. it ends with them looking around the upstairs of the house and reporting in.

I love the ending of this movie, but it's not the one I originally saw. The ending as _I_ saw it, Katie is downstairs, you hear the screams, Micah goes down and there's more screams. Then Katie comes up, knife in hand, blood all over her, and stands at the bed, rocking back and forth until morning. Then someone knocks on the door, comes in, you can hear her calling for Katie, and Katie stops rocking. The visitor screams, there's a growl and roar from the monster, gurgling, silence. Katie returns to rocking. A bit later, police show up, they find Katie. She's snaps out of it, asks what's going on, and the police repeatedly tell her to put the knife down. She's upset, doesn't know what's happening, and approaches the police, who shoot her as she's demanding to know where Micah is. I think there's a third ending, too, but I'm not sure. I'm only aware of these two, and they're both awesome!

This movie scared the crap out of me and my dad. Growing up on the Rez, spirits are something we're taught never to aggravate and respect and never mess with. I'm never going to forget watching this on tv, my dad sat down and started watching. He just happened to sit down during the scene where Katie was dragged outta the bed, he just sat up and said "Nope, not watching this" and walked away. What makes this so damn good compared to the others that came after, is they did a great job of making it feel so believable and eerie. To add to all of this, the suspense of escalation as the nights go on is creepy. Than, when it starts doing things during the day, when they thought they probably felt safe, it felt like it was a matter of time. The icing on the cake is the way Katie screams, it's absolutely blood curdling and bone chilling.

Hi Asia & BJ!😊 The paranormal Activity films are pretty fun and a guilty pleasure. The film is not real, but inspired by various actual events. These films make a lot of money on a very small budget. Originally Ouija boards were light-colored wood which made it easier to read the letters and numbers on the board when Parker bros. started making them. Paker bros. had the rights from 1966 - 1990. In 1991 Hasbro gained the rights safter acquiring Parker bros. Nice reactions to your first Paranormal Activity, Kids!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

Hey fam, it's Cal. Awesome and fun reaction! Got some insider fun facts for y'all. Let's go! 💀 So, Katie Featherton and Micah Sloat literally played themselves. Check the credits! 💀 The doctor only deals with ghosts, and the demonologist (who they needed) was out of town. That's what made the doctor bail out. He KNEW he wasn't the right man for the job. So even calling him earlier wouldn't have helped. 💀 At the end of the movie, when Katie is possessed in the bed, she says, "I think we'll be okay now," listen closely. It's in two voices; hers and the Demon's. Aw, man.. You'll never believe what happens in the next ones. They get better and better... and somehow, they're VERY addicting. I'ma send you the list in order because OH MAN, your reactions reminded me of EXACTLY the emotions I felt when I first saw it. Love to you both! Thanks, guys!
