Paramount Movie Ranch - Western TV Town / Birthplace of 3D Films
Ойын-сауық
A visit to the Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills California . Home to a multitude of productions over the years such as Dr Quinn Medicine Woman , Westworld and many more . Also was what some consider to be the filming location of the birthplace of color 3D films . Best part about the property is that it's free and open to the public .

Visited here many tines. Loved Dr Quinn, and of course Diagnosis Murder did an episode there too! Some gorgeous walks around the area too;)
Love the Ghost and Mr. Chicken reference at the beginning! LOL....Classic!
Wow. I want to visit here myself.
Adam, you are a true American. A pioneer. You're part of the 1% of people who aren't afraid to follow their own compass. For that I commend you.
Great movie history & a celebrity guest, wonderful.
I have been watching Westworld. Seeing that church was a treat.
Adam thanks for pulling back the movie magic curtin for your kindred spirits. Rock on. Shout out to Jordon. Good to see you
Been here a couple of times. Really awesome place to visit.

The main thing I remember getting excited about on the Backlot Studios Tour at Disney MGM was the Golden Girls house. I could actually remember that was it and that it looked just like I remembered in the show. Good times! Thanks for this video. I share your love for places like this too Adam!
Pretty amazing that you’re allowed to roam around there. And it’s always nice to see Jordan! And please get you a sturdy snake whomping stick.

Bridget Warebear bad idea. If you encounter a snake, the best thing to do is slowly move away. Not hit at it or try to kill it. Most snake bites occur when people are trying to kill a snake

Taylor Ingram , no worries sweetie. I’m not really big on bludgeoning poor snakes to death. I only meant it to be goofy. I’m sure Adam, with all his adventuring, is very cautious of them. Thank you for posting the correct protocol though :)

Paramount Ranch is a National Park, part of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It is open to the public daily, with the rare exception of an unusual circumstance, for free. And, parking is free. It is best to stay away from snakes or other wildlife, for yours and their safety. And, remember, as a Federal park, messing with anything in the park is against the law.
When I was a kid they had a huge back drop screen 10 times bigger than a drive in movie screen they'd paint movie back rounds on.
Love these film locations in So Cal.
IMDB has a huge list of 466 things filmed in that lot. Pretty cool!

It continues to grow as we add new things. A lot of those submissions were made by me! Not 100% of everything listed is accurate, as anybody can submit things and a few questionable items have been submitted. We who research on behalf of the Park Service only list things that we have thoroughly researched and are certain about.
Great that Adam made this, I was there 25 years ago when they filmed Dr Quinn. Time flies and now it's all gone 😬
As a floridian, the backlot tour at MGM in the late 80s and early 90s was amazing! The honey I shrunk the kids experience is what got me fascinated with movies and movie making so I totally understand your fascination with it.
Loving all of these LA ventures. Got me making a list for the next few weeks!!
Interesting to me since growing up loving westerns! Grew up in Phoenix. Thank you
I love both of you so much! ❤
This was a fun walk through. Watched a ton of westerns as a kid with my grandfather. He loved John Wayne.
I’ve heard of this, always wanted to see it! Thanks man!!
Wow very cool! I didn’t know a place like this existed! Thanks for showing me!
As a fellow Floridian, i visited Disney/MGM backlot tours many times too. I recall they used to also have a tour of the bldg where the animators worked. We toured in the early 90s when the animators were drawing for some movie called The Lion King. We didnt know or understand at the time what the movie was about, but we thought it was cool that all the animators desks had large plastic figures of lions, Hyenas, Monkeys, and a parrot.
The ghost and Mr chicken! Love it ! Atta boy Luther!!
That was fun. Thanks Adam!!!
Thank you, Adam. Getting close to 200,000 subscribers! Awesome! I’m glad to see your channel growing!
I miss LA. That was a favorite hike. Thank you for sharing Adam.
Awesome adventure and it was nice seeing Jordan spending time with you
Love these sort of places !!
So, there is no staff around, except for that one place with that poor German Shepherd. It seems so eerily quiet. What a super place to visit. You find the best places Adam the Woo.

The National Park Service has a plan in the works to create a "contact station" that would be open on the weekends and staffed with volunteers or NPS personnel to talk with visitors and share history. Occasionally, volunteer historians like myself will hang out on a weekend day, but right now that is only random. The Park Service does have history walks through the town about once a month. See the official Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area for the activities calendar. I should add that there are official NPS staff on site, if not seen in the town, for security purposes.
So cool that they just let the public wander around! I love movie sets and stuff like this! When you were talking about MGM Studios at the end, it reminded me of something I was saying in one of my videos at a movie set. Not to connect everything to Disney but MGM really had an impact on me as a kid. I’ve been obsessed with behind the scenes and the movie making process ever since I first went to MGM. Shame it’s all gone now :( At least real backlots and sets still exist at other places though! Thanks for bringing us along on this adventure!
This is where they filmed a Lizzie McGuire episode too!! Brought me back to my Disney Channel days as soon as I saw the set haha very cool video! :)

ADVENTURES with Christian, an awesome thing about Paramount Ranch is that it is open to the public even when filming is going on and you are usually allowed to watch from a safe distance! We don't publicize upcoming film shoots, but if you happen to hear about one or stumble upon one, you can watch. Part of the purpose of allowing filming to take place there is to give the public the chance to see how it's done. I've seen some pretty awesome people and things!
I would watch an old western starring Adam The Woo! That place was awesome man just like the video!
This was awesome. Thank you so much.
Thank you Adam, outstanding work. Pure Imagination indeed
So Awesome Adam

That was a funny start to the vlog. I absolutely love places like that, what a great job that caretaker must have waking up to that every morning ! Movie sets totally fascinate me, like yourself I always wanted to zap into them as a kid, the authentic look of the place is amazing. I bet it would be so cool to have a party in that place, rock band on stage ... big drums filled with cold beers ( or sarsaparilla lol ) I'm gonna have to study Westworld now to see the little church. Thanks for the video it was great.
Very cool video my friend!! I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!! Keep Rockin' and be safe!! 🎸🤘🥁🎼🎧
This is an awesome blog blog thank you for Adam the woo I love ghost towns
Thank you..Adam this was awesome. I.never knew this was there.
The dog was guarding the property. That was a lot of horse power going by there. I recognize the church and some of the other buildings from Doctor Quinn Medicine Woman. I remember watching it with my Grandma. Thanks for sharing this Adam. I hope you and Jordan had a great time there.
Very nice place!!! Thanks for showing us around!
A old skool vlog Adam, love it.
Adam...you rock dude! awesome vlogs lately! To bad there is nothing left to see from Gilligan's Island....that would have been awesome as well....keep up the great work...looking forward to your adventures this summer..!
Thanks Adam
I love the fact that Jordan is in this video! He did a gone with the wind backlot video and set information just before the auction that's how I found his channel! The things you don't know even though you're a native Californian I kind of sort of wish I had discovered this earlier and I would have been able to see history in the making I love behind the scenes and I reverse engineer everything and this is the perfect place for it. Thank you for sharing
Hi Adam, have a great day!👍

Until Dr. Quinn used the ranch/park, it was very unknown except to the folks in the immediate surrounding communities & Ren Faire alumni. DQ upped the awareness a lot, even globally. We still get Dr. Quinn fans from around the country and around the world. Then, Huell Howser filmed a California's Golden Parks episode about the ranch, which is shown on KCET about once a year since the first airing in 2010 & AAA has now put the ranch on the Huell Howser map, so that has helped. Westworld has brought us a lot of new visitors since it is one of the few filming locations that fans can actually visit and walk around!
Another great vlog Adam thanks man.
caught in the Draft,, movie Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour anyway, I just wstched it last t week up at my Fathers house, the cable and net was turned off, so I dug out his old VHS tapes, and I belive the scene where hope was riding a white horse was filmed out there

Much more that scene was filmed at the ranch. Two thirds or more of the movie shot there. Remember, that was still the studio era and the ranch was much larger then. It went just about to where the freeway is now!
Nice tour Adam, I grew up in California and never knew that was there. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for taking the time to document this location.
Cool stuff... thanks for sharing Adam!
I'm so glad you went there when you did. All that's left of it now is the church. I found out they are going to rebuild it though and it will be better than ever.
There is also the Fox Ranch where they filmed MASH movie and TV show. That to is now a park as well.
Really a fun video to watch ! Thanks!
Loved this!
Awesome as always Adam!!
Great vlog! Amazing place to visit an actual t.v. or movie location.
I’m so glad you’re uploading more Adam x
Once again The Woo have made a good vlog
I played a wedding reception there years ago , it was awesome , great job Adam
Good morning from Orlando. Flying to LA on Friday. Can’t wait. You da man Adam
One of the major scenes in West World was filmed at the angle @ 7:29. Party at end of season 1.
Very interesting. I enjoyed this one
Great to see you guys together more please 😌
Was there many times with my banjo for the aTopanga Canyon Fiddle and Banjo contest.
Love your channel and you are so professional. I love your narration and I think you are the best exploration channel on KZread. I never skip forward while watching your videos.
Amusing and informative as usual Adam.
I loved this vlog, I was a big fan of Dr Quinn and it was filmed there.Fun fact on Dr Quinn Medicine Woman the Saloon was the general store and the general store was the saloon so they were reversed for the show, the hotel was Dr. Quinn’s clinic and sick rooms, that store with the door on the corner was Jake Slickers barber shop, and the half brick building that’s beside it was the bank in later seasons, inside the fenced area behind the jail was Miss Graces cafe (outdoor of course) the wagon part was part of it I believe.
Love it! Great seeing you two together again! Nice Ghost and Mr. Chicken reference to begin with! :-D
Keep up the great work Adam
Thank you Adam- well done- & nice to see Jordan the Lion too 👍
Great vlog
Awesome video Adam! Love the movie prop stuff! -Al

Seeing you, Adam, and Jordan, in the vlog, well... The BEST!! Glad this place still exists! "Baby rattlers"... A classic gag! Glad to know, Jordan had a 'stake' in the vid! ✋😸
Thank you, Adam, for a nicely spotlighting Paramount Ranch! We are so lucky that it was saved from certain doom back in 1980 when the National Park Service bought the property and a wonderful piece of film and television history was saved for the public to enjoy. We are also fortunate that the Park Service continues to allow and encourage filming to take place, ensuring that new history is added to the old. The original incarnation of this Western town was built in the early 1950's by the William Hertz family. The first television use of the town that we have documented thus far is numerous episodes of The Cisco Kid's final season. Other popular Westerns like Bat Masterson, Tombstone Territory and Gunsmoke also shot portions of episodes at the ranch. The town was the "hometown" for the duration of the series Hotel de Paree, Klondike, Best of the West, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (interiors as well as exteriors) and Hulu's Quick Draw. The town was featured as Mintern, CA and in one episode, Tipton, OK, in HBO's Carnivale (the Carnivale photo on the map display in the town that you spotlighted is my photo!). It wasn't exactly the "hometown", but, as many have noted, the town and a purpose-built church played a very pivotal role in HBO's Westworld. The ranch continues to be used for movies, tv movies, television series and now streaming service series, music videos, student films, short films and still photo shoots. And, the nice thing is, the public is allowed to watch! The Park Service is presently working on some things to enhance the experience of park visitors. Anyone really interested in the history of Paramount Ranch should keep an eye on the official Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area website, as we occasionally have special historical programs or activities that offer the opportunity to learn about various aspects of the ranch's history! Also, I posted a link in another comment to our NPS lists of movies and tv shows that have been documented to have done filming at the ranch, for those who are interested.
A fond farewell ... and now to be reborn of the ashes.
All looks familiar from when Dr.Quinn filmed there, loved that show.
Adam, thank you for documenting the way it was before the fire. Preserving the past shapes the future. Also, think of those who lose so much in any disaster.
I remember watching Dr Quinn medicine woman. I recognize many buildings from that show. Great video. Always God seeing Jorden. I wish you would make more videos. I miss seeing you.

Hey, an episode of Gunsmoke was shot there and so was the Chuck Norris movie Breaker, Breaker...neat.

We researchers have not identified any Gunsmoke episodes that shot in the town, but they did scenes for an episode out in the open landscape. Yes, much of Breaker! Breaker! was filmed in the older incarnation of the town. Norris came back in the 1980's to host a tv special.
Right now definitely West World. More scenes then the church were filmed there. Many buildings filmed there for West World. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌🏼

Same here, I would go with my family on several trips to Orlando when I was younger. When our good family friends moved there, it gave us even more of a reason to visit. I remember being one of the first riders on BttF Ride at Universal. Those Disney/Universal days were special. I will never forget them. They are still great but…I'm sure you get my point.
Have only watched a minute of it so far, Love the 'Ghost and Mr. Chicken' reference. Man, I haven't seen that in a long time.
