BlackHawk Paramotors USA is proud to introduce the NEW AirMax 220 Paramotor. This extremely versatile powerhouse was designed as a crossover machine for pilots who want it all. The AirMax 220 can go from foot-launch, to being mounted on a LowBoy II Quad in a matter of minutes. With 29HP and 170-180 lbs of thrust, this machine is becoming a favorite to many of our customers around the world. The AirMax 220 is built by HE motors, and features a forced-air cooled 210cc engine. For under $10,000, you can get everything you need for quad & foot-launch, including s Velocity Edge Paraglider! Charlie Strong, a longstanding customer from Modesto Ca, stated "I was planning on buying 2 Paramotors because I'm a bigger guy and wanted to do both foot-launch and quad flight. When Mike at BlackHawk came back with the AirMax 220, I was very excited. I have nearly 50 hours on it now, without any issues, and I'm loving every minute of it!" Many students who come to the BlackHawk ranch with the intention of learning quad flight, later decide they want to venture into foot-launch. After mastering glider control and some quad flights, it becomes easy to transition into being a foot-launch pilot. The AirMax 220 suits the needs of many, and we are confident this top-seller will be around for many years to come.

That was an error.... The AirMax has a powerful motor on it. The MAX pilot weight for the AirMax is 340 lbs. The stats are updated on our website.

Hi Kevin! We actually have several Paramotors that can easily handle a payload of 330 lbs. This specific video showcases an older (obsolete) unit. We still have many customers flying the AirMax, so we've left the video on the channel for Pilot reference. When you have some time, reach out to our office and we can get you some price quotes for Paramotors that will suit your needs =) -BLUE SKIES! Buying my first paramotor in the spring, one question though...I want to get the standing+sitting combo BUT it doesn't look like the quad has an on-board motor. Would I need a truck every time I wanted to fly or is there any way to get the quad to drive around 20-30mph? This is essentially the perfect flying car, cheaper than any new car. It blows my mind that so few people use these for city travel...

Mainly I want to take it to work and land in the back then drive around to the front, are there even pedals? Does the fan work at all on the ground? Even the concrete? Easy payments available at all? Thank you for your help Internet!

+abusiveFIRE Thanks for the questions! Flying to work is one of the biggest fantasies we hear from people! Talk about a cool way to start and end the work day! It has been done, however, here are some things to consider: You can't fly over populated areas (roads, houses, etc.) That can make it challenging to plan a rout to work. Additionally, these are not street legal for traveling to work. Lastly, they are designed to be on the ground for only short periods of time. The tires are not built like road-tires and the platform would be unstable at 30+mph. That doesn't mean it can't be done. If there is a rout you could go that would take you around any populated areas, you could fly to work. We have had several pilots do that in the past.

+matt smith There are lots of ways people get into the sport slowly... One of the best suggestions would be to take lessons and get a Velocity Paraglider with a Kiting Harness. This way, you can keep practicing your ground-handling skills (which is where the majority of training takes place) while you save up for the machine. This will save you some time. We also have a rep through Wells Fargo who qualifies people for financing, however, from what I've heard from customers, you might check with local credit unions... They might offer a better rate than Wells Fargo. Give us a call when you have a moment so we can go over options and answer any questions you have: 209-786-7899

Thanks for the comment Jacob! The AirMax is about $8000 for everything needed to fly if you are doing Foot Launch, and just about $10k if you are flying Quad. Below is a link to our AirMax page so you can check it out. We actually have a newer AirMax 220 that produces a bit more power than the original. If you would like a personalized price quote, just give our office a call so we can help get you started on your adventure! Thanks for the questions Larry. This was one of the test flights of the first few AirMax machines. That being said, we take it easy when testing gear - at first. If you are familiar with RedBull Pilot Pal Takats, he exclusively flies the AirMax due to the extreme demands he has on his equipment. I hope this helps.

How much for a used unit?

  • @blackhawkparamotor

Hi there Luis! Thanks for the comment. PLEASE try and stay far away from used equipment. People absolutely love their flying machines, so if someone is selling one, there must be a reason. Also, there are no "CarFax" or any way to check if the motor has been crashed, dunked in water, sitting in a garage for a long time, or how many hours are on it. Some Pilots are very "rough" on their units. When I first saw this on KZread, the very next place I went was Ebay to see how cheap I could get one RIGHT NOW lol. This was years before I worked for BlackHawk. I am so glad I just took another long year to keep saving for a new one. This is quite the investment, and you don't want to end up buying one of these twice. It's extremely rare that we ever get a used unit in stock because people love to fly. Feel free to contact our office and we can get you a price quote for gear that suits your needs =) -Team BlackHawk Office: (209) 786-7899 Sales Director Heidi Lee (cell phone): (209) 418-5990 Email: Team@BlackHawkParamotor.com

...so in other words once you buy one of these things it's worthless because some people are rough on equipment?!!! Geeze what if somebody got hit by a bus the day after they got home with a new 220 and the wife is selling it to pay for the kids school lunches? or for that matter, what if they flew it once and scared the poop out of themselves ...maybe got arrested for flying low over private property and just don't want to deal with potentially having to educate their local law enforcement every time they go "FLY YING" as Dell says... Funny, I've had just about everyone affiliated with this activity tell me NEVER buy used stuff, but they also reassure me, that if I buy entry level gear and progress beyond it's limitations, or if I own top of the line stuff and simply give up paramotoring, they'll be glad to buy it back. "Heck", they claim, "...you're making a great investment & there's always a market for good used gear..." I am literally days from TEACHING MYSELF how to paraglide and blowing the lid off of all of the infighting, scams, misleading marketing, accusations, illusionary "ratings" and BS in this "industry". If I was ONE OF YOUR FORMER BUYERS AND FORMER STUDENTS (currently trying to unload a BlackHawk outfit on eBay), I'd find this post pretty offensive.

I hear where you are coming from. This is the 2nd Manufacturer I've worked for - Dell being the first one, which almost made me not want to fly again. The amount of dishonesty in this sport is staggering and it effects all of us... Both Pilots and Manufacturers. This is the exact reason why I chose to represent another manufacturer. The "politics" in this sport can be exhausting for all. MOST people who get into the sport would starve before they would sell their Paramotors. I'm sure there are rare situations where "someone gets hit by a bus" and their Wife wants to sell a unit, however, if just about everyone in the Industry has told you to stay away from a used AIRCRAFT, there might be something to it... There is no "CarFAX" or any system to check ownership of used units, hours on them, if they have been dunked in water or not, stored improperly in a garage for a while, people tinkering with the motor, if parts have been replaced with non-original parts (even a bolt or washer that needs to be of aircraft quality), and so much more. Buying a used car is very different from buying an aircraft when it comes to safety. If people can spend a couple thousand more and not risk their lives, I'd say that's a good enough reason not to take a chance on trusting some stranger selling a mystery machine. There are just more reasons to not go with used, than there are good ones. After working for two Manufacturers in the Industry for half a decade, "I've seen enough to know better." Hope this helps! Don't give up or get discouraged by all the BS out there. Remember, it's all about the flying... Something I have to remind myself constantly when I'm submerged in the "BS." Whichever brand or choice you go with, I just hope you are safe and can enjoy all this sport has to offer for many years to come =) Blue skies! -Rob W.
