Paramotor NC - Skyward - Update

Check out this video where Glenn and I meet other local pilots in the air. We camp in the field and fly again at sunrise. Let me also explain why I took a month off from flying...

When accidents happen, it's good to take a "safety stand down" as we called it in the Army. Take the day off, cancel flights, and really consider what caused the accident and how we can improve ourselves and learn in order to become safer pilots.

Hey Ben. Great video as always but I wanted to specifically compliment you on one part. At 6:57 right after the quote dissolves, that shot of Glenn was incredibly cinematic. It really looked like a professionally planned/filmed shot. Very nice. Glad you're back in the air and I'm with you regarding safety and risk/reward. I love flying but I try to stay within my comfort zone and try to push my boundaries very cautiously and with intent. I've got to much to lose by being careless.

Thank you Warren. Sounds like we are aligned on risk vs reward. Blue skies.

0:03min in and i am already in stitches. he lost a shoe?! talking about safe equipment. 🤣actually its not that bad. the real problems start then that shoes goes throught the prop. #whoshreddedmyflipflops i am happy to hear what you said next: feeling the urge to get up fast because mates already ripping around but resist that and take the time to double check everything. its exactly these situations which cause most accidents. the show off factor is another big one but getting up asap because everybody else is flying is also risky. i caught myself almost do the same and forgot 1 buckle AND helmet strap!🤨 after i realized that i reset my brain and took a deep breath before getting up. was a good lesson. continue watching now

Exactly, I rushed to take off and forgot to change into my flying shoes. Thank goodness this mistake didn't cause any problems except for having to fly with only one shoe. DON'T RUSH!!!

Yeah, you are right. A simple mistake like shoe lace or helmet strap can lead to a series of errors. I have witnesses a crash where the prop broke and the gas tank was ruptured spilling fuel onto the field. Pilot was ok. The cause... forgot to strap the helmet, helmet bounced around during taxi, distracted pilot released throttle.

@@ParamotorNC exactly. simple things can lead to so much problems. one time i reverse launched and put my brake UNDER the riser instead of OVER it. being too confident i thought i am fine until i saw the brake line wrapped around the wing after launch and gave me weird pressure feeling. i could fly normal and probably even land like that but i paniced a bit as i tried to do 27 things at the same time while still climbing out the first 10 meters. getting into seat. swapping throttle to another hand and fiddle around to get my hands in front of me in between the harness. got a knot in my brain and that made it so much worse going left and right from being on and off throttle couple times, trying to untangle the brake toggle around the riser. thinking back to that it would be so easy. just climb full power a minute. then get both hands free while gliding straight off throttle and just wrap the toggle back to normal. but things adding up so fast as beginner and made the whole situation feel bad. i wasnt in full panic mode but it wasnt very pleasant either. learned from that. double check my toggles before every launch. never happened again. if we can learn from little mistakes its actually really good. the big ones get you because you only have one shot to try. living in china i see alot muppet pilots here doing so much things wrong even before clipping in. jesus tank ruptured? that was my nightmare when i fly gasoline engines. imagine you crash and break your ankle. cant run away and then getting ignited by your gasoline soaked clothes from hot exhaust because you cant find the killswitch. 😵🤯💥🔥
