Paramotor instructor critiquing a student- harsh and humbling!!!
Here is a unique look at how an instructor critiques himself looking back at some old footage!
Learning to fly a paramotor is challenging and there is always new and better ways to teach and learn. Learn, practise, learn some more, then go practise some more!!

That’s the best Paramotor video I’ve watched. And I’ve watched about all of them. No fluff, just substance. Captivating.
Just wish I could give this video more thumbs up! It is easy to edit videos showing the best and how easy it is, but taking the time to edit your failures and showcasing the work, dedication, and determination is simply amazing. Thank you
I've been flying for about 18 months and have watched countless videos. This video is the absolute BEST paramotor video that I have seen yet. Great job on the edit, content and narration. Keep up the good work.

Right? Tucker and Trevor needs to step their game up lol
I'm just now kiting with my motor and doing some live runs, everything you showed i went through!!!! love the video and thanks so much!!!
I've done 15 flights in training and this video Absolutely Nails it! Thanks so much for taking the time and sharing the struggle!
Best educational video ever for a Nubia’s poilet, please do more of the same I will recomind to all my fellow poilets Exelant production Happy flying kind regards Sean from the Burren in the west of Ireland
Just watched this video absolutely fantastic. I started paragliding a couple of years ago at 63 and then last year started my paramotor journey and things did not go well. Got one flight in and the did a face plant and damaged my carbon prop and didn't have a spare. Am hoping to get back at it this summer have a spare wooden prop and also a more dedicated paramotor wing Ozone roadster. Anyway it was really helpful to see your journey and know that Hey it's not easy and it's a lot of work. Great tips keep it up Cheers Brian
Great video. I trained on the same field, same gear. I did exactly the same thing lifting my feet before clearing the ground. I've still got a lot of room for improvement, this video will help.
I know it's been awhile but as busy season is here I can only post when I feel inspired to, hope you enjoy!!
I'm literally 2 days into training and this is a gold mine of information, thanks man! Just did throttle control today and can't wait for my first flight.
Thank you for this video. I have been thinking that I am barking up the wrong dream but when you stated that your were 45 and in ok shape you helped me realize I may be able to do this sport! Thanks again
Excellent video! This is straight to the point and addresses crucial issues. Great work!
A very constructive and positive video. I think we all recognize ourselves in your evolution. And every flight we keep learning new things and improving our skills. Keep posting :-)
Love seeing these videos. Glad you had those documented. All I see are your perfect take-offs, and good to see that you made the same mistakes that all of us make. It gives me hope for a brighter future!
One of the best videos of understanding this hobby and knowing what you're doing wrong. Thank you so much!!
Hey buddy, Great work on this video. Very educational.
Wayne and Susan are such great instructors...so glad you are passing on all the knowledge you have gained. Thanks for taking the time to make such a great video.
One of the most challenging sports I've been a part of for sure in my older age. This is very educational for newbies as well a those who feel a degree of adequacy, then experience some frustration due to the characteristics you point out. Very informative, helpful and thank you for taking the time to edit and explain these PPGing principles. Thanks for sharing!
It is not often I will comment on a video. But after watching this one I had to let you know how much I needed and thoroughly enjoyed what you created here. Thank you, for helping me and I am sure countless others who probably needed this as much I did!! Great Job!!
Great video ! I flew adventure paramotor in the early 90 's and your instruction is bang on. Learn the wing and the wind ! I don't do it anymore but was a thrill I'll never forget ! THX !
Thanks for the vid. I am on flight 14 and making a lot of the same mistakes you were talking about at flight 13. I appreciate you being very candid about your experience. I am really struggling with the landings so every bit of info helps!
It’s great to show the newbies that just because you make it look easy now, a lot of effort went into making it look that way. Very well done video.
Thanks for making this Jason, it's a great refresher for our short flying season
Love your videos mate, there’s some really good tips in there! I love how you got away with sitting down on that launch, my first attempt wasn’t so lucky (broken prop and broken pride).
You are helping me a lot. Thank you for what you doing. Good job. Showing own faults is a very brave in this times. I appreciate
Nice... I started the same year! Very humbling to think back on all the mistakes.

If you had any terrifically big mistakes to share with younger pilots, what would they be? Any big lessons?
That was great information thank you. Not many people make it that clear.
Thank you for putting this out there for all to see. Thinking about training next year to see if paramotor is for me. Will not forget these point!!.
Glad to see and hear another video from you. I always love the slow deliberate and common sense way you narrate. Great job!
Awesome training tips / reminders fly-guy, looking forward to using em with your instruction in a few weeks. nice to see more about the launch with motor technique, so much out there is focused on kiting, which is fine (and obviously crucial), but not as much on this topic, great content! Thanks!
Wow. What an amazing video. So useful. Great resource. Good on you!!! Thank you.
Yes, it was captivating, as Good Day put it. Vastly more intimate than other paramotor videos. Kind of beautiful. Thanks so much!
Great video mate! That was (and still is) exactly me. I have made all those mistakes and still do some. Couldn't agree more on "make it fun". Thanks for your tips.
Hey thank you Fly Guy, this is and so many of your videos are really helpful and always enjoyable!
Thanks mate - your past is my 'now'. Some golden nuggets for a 5 flight newbie. I haven't had too rough a start to the sport probably due to learning to flying PG in parallel - but learning every day. Thanks for sharing!
These are the kind of videos I enjoy the most.. Thank you 👍🤙
Hey Jason, excellent video. Good examples for us newbies to follow (or not to follow as the case may be).
Great video Jason. Very helpful. Reminded me of of my first take off when I plowed into the ground for the same reason. Live and learn. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope to look you up when I visit a friend in Okotoks. Safe flying! Nothing else like it.
Great video! Brilliant tips! Cheers!
Very well done. Thank you for sharing it.
The launch at 16:19 should be the Holy Grail of launching correctly. That little bit of wind was perfect!
Lots of good insights. Thanks much!
A great video, lots of good observations. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for sharing! Excellent training video...SPOT ON!
Thanks for that! I'm still fairly new with less than a dozen flights and it's good to have that recap, especially as we come out of winter and are able to pick back up with more regular flying. It's also fun to re-live those early flights where things were (still kinda are, for me) so nervous and a little overwhelming! :D :D
You did a butt dragg. 😂 😂 Nice video my friend. Helps a lot of people. 👍
That was an excellent instructional video! The narration was perfect as well. Greetings from Arizona.
Very nice! I have been flying for some time now but this really reinforced the basics. Detailed and thoughtful critique. Thanks for putting together a great video. Extra bonus with the beautiful flying at the end.
Totally agree about the double ring. My old Fresh Breez's double ring cage has saved me at least two props! Most nanufacturer's are going to single ring. Not good! I learned a lot. Excellent instructional video. I'm 70. Still foot launch!
Thanks for sharing ... we are all learning.
Very informative video. Great work. Definitely want to see more videos like this.
Good video. Your training looks exactly like the training we all went through....the good, the bad and the ugly. You critiquing you was interesting and informative. Your instructor seams cool. Beautiful footage man...thanks for sharing.
You definitely had to work to get where you are today, great job, great video, you would make an outstanding instructor.
fantastic video.. well done. thank you
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing, and for the thoughts and tips! I found the reverse kite run-away wing tip particularly relevant.. through all my training the instructors didn't mention it (we were really left to ourselves to kite), and it makes so much sense. A bit like repelling at first though.. leaning back into a force you don't feel comfortable with ;-)
Great job. Good tips. Enjoyed the delivery.
Great video, using yourself as an example and you have a beautiful area to fly when it's green.
What an awesome video, thank you!
Great video bud very chilled look at learning 👏👌
This was very informative and my attempts look so similar! I have learned from this, would love to learn from you sometime
You had a habit of lifting your feet just before touch down that was the reason for those butt landings. Your flaring was right on time about 2 to 3 feet, your body position was excellent as you were completely off your seat and upright and one foot in front of the other although as soon as you pull them brakes for the final flare you pull your feet up. Awesome videos that will be very helpful for the newbies.
Excellent ..... Thank-you !
Gonna remember those 4 Ps! It's that last one that I keep forgetting though! Got my own first 4 motor flights in last week. Here at FlyBC you learn to free fly first - because you can. Launch, flying, and landing experience sans motor really helps.
I fly altralights but I enjoyed ur vid ur joy of flight is contagious ! 👍
Really superb primer!
Enjoyed it as always, thanks
Thank you very much very good points, practices will make you better each time to become better pilot
can you share how dis you record last few min of this video chase cam? which one? which comm equipment? sena? model? how motor noise is removed?
Don’t be so hard on yourself...good honest critical reflection and a constructive attitude. There’s only two ways to 100% avoid failure...never try anything new...or never give up. Great instructions!!!!
Great video...If I could give any advice it would be "Never sit down until your 10 feet off the ground" My 1st launch I tried to lean back for more posture and the seat basically scooped me up (which could have been improper tightness of legs straps)..I flew (or long jumped lol) for about 30 feet but got a slight prop strike and took about 2mm off the edge of the prop and instantly killed the motor. So my next launch I may have looked funny but I kept running until I was well into the air...It can trick you for sure because all the weight is lifted off of you just before you become airborne..don't fall for it...keep running!!!!
Great video man! I CAN'T wait to get into paramotors.

Jump on it sell evrrything do it.....its amazing
Thanks for sharing! The butt-drag was almost identical to my first launch. Useful info.
love the video and the yell of pure happiness at the end of the cloud walk
I hit the like button..! Thank you for sharing with a thumbs up to you..!
Thank you!
Great video fly guy!
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing the good and bad. It will help me alot. I only have two flights in from last year. My 3rd take off wasn't good and I aborted 3 times and called it quits from exhaustion. I definitely need practice on landings as well. Is that a reflex wing that you have? I have a Mac para charger wing do you have any tips landing with reflex wing?
@fly-guyalberta3605

It was a Aeros Vitamin wing (not a reflex). I now fly Dudek wings
Fantastic video! This was as much (or more) a critique of the instruction as the student.
Do you have any trike tips
Great video. Inspiring to see those early flights. I'm learning to fly soon. Got a sub from me.
great work fly-guy do more instructional vids your a natural
Got the flying bug in Florida lol. Thanks for the mini lesson.
Nice... very nice.... a worth while video for all.
Great video
Nice video... I Enjoyed it...
hahah its funny though when your instructor said "he had a butt drag!!" , nice video!
great one .... hope i can make one in couple years .... startet at 50 Alberta
Nice video,i dream about flying with one of that ^^
I can't wait to attend paramotor training soon! I live around central alberta too, and am more than hoping to get my paramotor certification, or at least get educated enough to be safe after I get my PPL through the air cadets. If it is vetoed because of COVID, I would gladly stop by and get trained up as soon as I can!
Love the nose dive into the swamp!!
NICE YOUR REGION FOR FLIGHT, GREAT NATURE
I like this video
Grate video
You were a terrible student just like me! hahahah. Very inspiring, especially to new people.
Much trainer for fly paraglider, great trainer, great flight, i love trainer, I Fly in Brazil, Paraglider Lancer XC2 , of Company ONIKA PARAGLIDERS.
I haven't flown, haven't been instructed & this is only the 3rd video about it I've watched. I am intrigued. For those of us completely new to this can you explain what A's are
@fly-guyalberta3605
5 жыл бұрын
Your instructor will show ya the ropes! "A" lines are the risers that attach to the leading edge of the wing. Most have 'split As'- one set to the inside leading edge, and one set to the outside leading edge

Enjoyed and learned here,,, but I never got the hang of footlaunch so,,, my instructor recommended wheels.
Why didn't your instructor correct you with your alignment on that first flight?
I agree. Beast roar is required.
