That bloke is absolutely class. Not only working to save lives but also constantly reassuring people and making things so much more calmer, it helps more than people realise when you can just talk to someone and them listen, and the paramedic does just that, props to him

Yea he’s so good.

These paramedics are brilliant. So personable and caring. Just who you would want if you had an emergency

He survived and he went on to do amazing things.

Both the paramedics were excellent, obviously a good team!…. But the male… has a knowledge and empathy that was obvious.. he was professional, and communicated kindly with the vulnerable clients he/they helped.

Thanks to all the ambulance and police for helping and saving people from bad situations.

6:24 That's something worth pointing out. Because the patient is hypothermic, the pulse oximeter reading placed on his finger must not be reading well,;the ear is a good alternative, although it's not comfortable!

He said something very important they might tell you a minor issue first that they fall or tripped. But for real they have trouble with balance or something else. This is important to recognize.

Wasting ambulance services like the first woman is major taboo in the US. If that woman did that in the US those ambulance drivers would not have been anywhere near as nice as this dude was. They’d think ‘what if someone was having a legit emergency and we were off wasting our time on a woman just wanting to get out of jail’? In my opinion they’re right to think like that bc yea another ambulance can get to someone having an emergency but it might’ve taken longer or it’s possible they had to wait bc there weren’t any other ambulances available. The UK should make people pay when they waste their NHS services bc it more than likely is really scr*wing someone else. When I lived in England I thought it was infuriating how every Sunday the ERs were backed up bc of loads of people in there trying to get a sick note so they can get out of work while there were seriously sick people in there waiting to be seen. Outrageous. People talk up the NHS but it is broken and needs to be fixed. Also the ambulance waiting times are outrageous and often times it’s better to drive yourself or get an Uber instead of waiting and hour+ for an ambulance. I can only imagine how many people die every year waiting on ambulances.

@@LudiCrust. ermmm it's a taboo in the UK too??? You need to chill before you start shitting on the NHS, at least we have universal healthcare and don't have to pay for our ambulance rides. It may need fixing but it's not a profiteering exploitation exercise, which is what the US system is. The rest of the world sits and laughs at you all because those who are poor and sick can't get any treatment at all, unlike the "seriously sick people waiting to be seen" in the UK. Get off your high horse and sit down, you yankee. I also highly doubt your story about the ER every Sunday, that is definitely an over exaggeration (What gave you away was the Sunday part). If your paramedics truly treat people that rudely then it says a lot about America - at least when ambulance crews attend scene in the UK, they don't ask if you've got insurance first because they don't need to. You speak of how many people die waiting for an ambulance but how many people die in the US because they can't afford an ambulance to begin with? An uber may be quicker but you can't take a car crash victim with a spinal injury in an uber and also people aren't forced to take an uber because it's cheaper than an ambulance. Shit on the NHS all you like but it saved my life when I needed it and they provided exemplary medical care to my Nan when she was incredibly ill. Best thing of all? It didn't cost anyone of us thousands of pounds or more just for a single illness. I can only assume you come from a position of privilege because you neglect to mention that illness in the UK does not send people into debt based on medical costs unlike the US, where you guys literally have people go into crippling debt with it. Check your privilege and learn some perspective.

US EMT here, anyone know what the Pulse OX on the ear was for? I had a few patients recently that I couldn't get a good reading on the hand because of the cold, does placing it on the ear operate in the same way since it's closer to the heart or is it a more specific Medic reading? If anyone can help very interested in learning, thank you!

i'm not sure 100% sure, but i think they use it on the ear when the patient has poor blood circulation in the fingers. But it requires a special ear lobe sensor. A pulse oximeter finger clip placed on the ear does not provide clinically reliable readings.

Yea pretty much got it. The guys hypothermic so unlikely to get any obs from pulseox on finger. The ears are naturally warmer and have good blood flow so you can generally get a reading earlier when a hypothermic pt is warming up. As harveymnp mentioned, using a standard sensor is not ideal so should get a more accurate reading from a finger when possible but its better than nothing.

What the paramedic said at the end about mental health emergencies being a majority of their cases? I believe that. The UK may be a rich nation on paper, but in reality, it's one of the poorest Western countries on the planet. A tiny minority own all the money and property, while the wider population lives in poverty. No wonder people are struggling with mental health.

My mum stops breathing in the night but then somehow survives like my dad is only here Thursday night-Sunday evening as he works away so when my dad is home it’s fine coz he wakes her up and tells her but she don’t know how she does it when he’s not here… so does anyone have an explanation of that? She’s fine btw no need for an ambulance or anything but when she wakes up she’s short of breath

Also, for people who don't have English as their first language it would be very helpful Besides, they have them available already because it has been on the telly and it's mandatory there. They can just upload that same file and help out a lot of people with very little effort

I’ve been on the road and treated patients like her. There’s a couple ‘layers’ to probation. Based on the Clip it seems she’s told her probation officer that she’s moved house but it probably either hasn’t gone further than that or her probation officer hasn’t updated her file. I’ve seen this happen quite a few times.

Probation likely didn’t update her files to her new address - it’s protocol that she’s in there, not her fault.

So, that woman is so childish that she laughs at someone for wearing glasses and yet somehow she is allowed to work on an ambulance!? She is clearly not qualified and should not be working in the ambulance service.
