In This Episode Nikhil Narrates the story of The Manhattan Project, subject of Christopher Nolan's Movie Oppenheimer. Manhattan Project was a highly classified research and development endeavour that took place during World War II, with the objective of creating the world's first atomic bombs. Named after the Manhattan Engineer District, the project was initiated in 1939 in response to fears that Nazi Germany might develop nuclear weapons.
Under the leadership of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the Manhattan Project brought together a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and military personnel from across the United States. The project's main research and development sites were located in Los Alamos, New Mexico; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Hanford, Washington. Each facility had a specific role, with Los Alamos focusing on bomb design and assembly, Oak Ridge on uranium enrichment, and Hanford on plutonium production.
The scientific breakthroughs achieved during the Manhattan Project were groundbreaking. The team successfully harnessed the process of nuclear fission, where the nucleus of an atom is split, releasing enormous amounts of energy. The project explored two primary methods: uranium-235 enrichment and plutonium-239 production. Intensive research efforts and engineering innovations were devoted to these processes in order to obtain the necessary materials for atomic bombs.
On July 16, 1945, a significant milestone was reached when the project conducted its first successful nuclear test. Codenamed "Trinity," the test took place in the New Mexico desert and demonstrated the immense power of atomic weapons.
Less than a month later, in August 1945, atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The devastating impact of these bombings led to Japan's surrender, effectively ending World War II. The use of atomic bombs raised profound ethical questions and forever changed the world's perception of warfare.

The actual thing is as follows. You will see that Oppenheimer used this as a consolation that if he hadn't built the atomic bomb, Hilter would have. The speech basically just means to say that you do your dharma (duty, do the right thing) no matter how difficult it is. Very well explained. And, in light of your explanation, Oppenheimer does not seem to have taken any "wrong" inspiration from Gita. He DID do his duty-however unwillingly.

@@vidhushekhar17 hahaha, yes, he did what he thought was his dharma. So, you are right, probably the inspiration was right. But his translation was wrong. He misinterpreted Kaal as death, though it means Time.

It is incorrect to say that he took inspiration to make the bomb from the Gita. In the above video, it is mentioned that when he made the bomb, he was not happy with it. Later, he read the Gita and learned that if he hadn't made the bomb, someone else would have, as everything is ultimately being done by Vishnu
