@@ParalyzedLiving that's why I stayed with a minivan and not get a nice expensive car bc I knew it would just get torn up and my chair also plus the back doors don't open as wide as the fronts do so getting my daughter in and out, taking my apart and putting it back together again would take waaaaaay more time and I have severe spasticity/tone and didn't want to hurt my legs ankles or kick the gas or break pedals. Plus vans have way more room in them for emergency things......you know what I'm talking about lol....

As always, excellent to find your most recent post Brian. The little one is growing so fast and I chuckle as I watch her face as she takes the bumpy transfer in stride. Would it interest you to know that I still find your transfer from the chair into the car simply amazing. It's a skill I am now committed to mastering as my weight has been an issue for me in proportion to my strength. Hope you and your family are doing well and I await your next installation.

Yep I agree that 4 doors aren’t the easiest given the limited space but it’s still doable…but I’m also only 5’ 10” so I could see how added height would be tricky. I have another video doing a transfer with our 4 door SUV and it’s easier than sedans that I’ve tried. Good luck and holler if I can be any more help!

She's SO beautiful. I'm so happy for you guys, and seeing her grow...seeing you happy and well. I'm really glad for you. Thanks, as always, for sharing. I'd recommend considering ring slings for having her on your lap in zoos and parks and such now that she's old enough to sit up on her own and run around. Really nice system to use the long cloth as a seatbelt around your torso to hold her to you...and then she can get in and out herself and you can just tighten up the cloth through the rings. Might not be for you, but it might be a great tool as she gets bigger and bigger.

I know you do everything for your child first moment l saw this video! It's pretty difficult but you got it! A little time and she 'll walk on her own feet if she doesn's sleep! Loved that time in childhood of my son, l love every day in his 19 - year - old life! I whished to have had someone to help me to figure it out when he was so little! But l allways had to do all AGAINST his father, cause he didn't interest of what's goodfor my son but what he wanted! You have s.o.in your back to be at your side and that's so heavenly and important for your future of you three you can't imagine now but later on. Go on, never stop, you are the best for each other who can be and you both are marvelous parents! Be blessed, you all!

I'm also a paraplegic. T8t9 complete since I was 19 back in 2001. Your doing an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME JOB doing things on your own. We have to come up with new tricks all the time as our own things/our kids growing with age, AD, heating/cooling ourselves around non paralyzed individuals. I starting driving again with a side fold out ramp so I stayed with it. I question how come you didn't get 3 ramp minivan after you an your wife/gf/fiancé? I used a bodybaby carrier when she was ababy an couldn't walk yet.when she started walking good she walked up rhe ramp and I lifted her up into the car seat and helped her turn around unless I used a boppy pillow with a clip on the strap that went around me. She would just sit on that when at home mostly quite a lot while I did house work when she couldn't walk good yet. As she grew ( she will be 4 in a month an a half ) I had to constantly come up with new ways to care for and get her to do more on her own or do things to help me. She loves helping with small tasks but hates picking up her toys lol 😂. Even though my sci is lower than yours I feel like you do better than me by watching you do things. I have very little balance and a fall forward doing things so I do things leaning to the sides against my arm rests to do chores because I can't do them by leaning forward, it's hard for me to push myself back to my backrest. Do you put your pants on in bed also? Do you use a toilet or shower commode? Do you cath or have an indwelling catheter?

Your videos are very informative. 👍 I used to play some wheelchair sports and my chair was cambered. My last chair didnt have as much as i liked. In a different video you mentioned you prefer 2 degrees but showed example of 4 degree camber. Does camber go in 2 degree increments? I am ordering a new chair soon and wondering if i can get 3 degrees? I dont know as much as you. Also..i always get 2" front casters. Are 4" inch better now that i dont play sports? And lastly...i have the forked caster mount. The chairs i am choosing between have just one caster mounting bracket. I think the chair u showed in an older video had just one. Are they as durable? Id appreciate a quick response cause i only have a few days to order. Thanks a lot. I hope life is ok. I saw this was your most recent video and wanted to touch base with u. Thanks 😉👍

Please give inclined bed therapy a try. I started this month by lifting the head of my bed about 8-9 inches, it makes such a difference! Body fluids require gravity to circulate, due to the density changes caused by de/salinization. You can check out Andrew Fletcher for more. Or if you reply, I'll fetch a link.

We just got back from an appointment where we were trying to figure out how he would get our baby into the car. Your suggestions in this video were so helpful. Glad it helped!! He can definitely be more hands on than he may imagine. The trick is practice. Prior to our baby being born, I put a 10 pound weight in our carrier and practiced different methods. Unfortunately, it just takes trial and error to see what works best for him. I’ve transferred her into our 4 door SUV and typically backed my chair up against the open door. It’s tight but doable. Good luck! Enjoy your new blessing!

She's already strapped in (Brian mentions this when he sets her into the front seat) with the 5-point harness on the car seat itself. The base in the back seat is already seatbelted into the car tightly. The car seat is made to click into a strong latch in the base so that the car seat secures the baby, the base secures the car seat, and the seat belt secures the base.
