Yeah that's a good explanation! Raising the average volume instead of the peak volume.
Thank for a great video! Why should 'makeup' be set to off on the compressor? It makes the compressed signal way quieter...

Would it work if you group all the separate tracks and set up a return channel and then compress the channel?

do you use the same settings for the vocals? I figure you wouldn't but I don't have an idea what to put it on, don't hear a difference
I tried the exact steps on my vocal buss, it makes all the breaths, reverb and sibilance come through so much more, Idk what I'm doing wrong
Ok this is a great tutorial, however as soon as I start blending in the parallel compression to an audible level, my master signal starts redlining. How to fix this?
sounds like its phasing when i try this?
