they'll get there eventually, they want to make sure they hire people who they trust and want to work with. They aren't a massive company like Maxis and EA where they just pick someone and throw them into the job they signed up for. Happy and comfortable employees go a long ways.

every time it looked like it couldn’t possibly get better, it did. my jaw is in a different country, this has me unbelievably excited for this game, the devs are insanely talented and the potential here is incredible

Why does this game gives me all the warm and fuzzy feelings? Like I’m about to cry, starting with background sounds, the animations, the carefully thought of considerations in building a house, etc. something that TS4 massively failed to accomplish.

Me looking at my wallet after this: “We gotta talk. I’m about to do something you normally don’t want me to do but it’s gonna be worth it this time.”

Im pretty sure I read/ watched lilsimsie or SOMETHING where it was revealed it would be free? but some extra content and like 'expansion pack' -like things will be purchased but i'd also be surprised because this game is literally beautiful and id invest 10x more in this than what I've done with the sims 😫

This game looks more complete than a certain game released 7 years ago.

The UI sounds are very satisfying. I'm so happy that there aren't "slots" for objects and clutter, it allows for so much more customization to make a place look lived in!

Without a doubt if Paralives lives up to expectations when it's finally released, it's going to blow EA out of the water at the top spot with the Sims. I wonder how closely EA are watching this and thinking how they can copy what you guys are doing for Sims 5 next year.

A game developer (disambiguation) can range from one person who undertakes all tasks to a large business with employee responsibilities split between individual business functions. As such, programming, design, art and testing as well as management, marketing, finance and human resources and senior management to name a few. The common and natural meaning would be the company to players who are not too into the game development cycle aspects of the game. As such, EA Games the game developer. You are right, middle and senior management have a lot of say, but the development team would have an indirect impact on the game, as well as the Design Lead. Overall, yes you are correct, senior management, marketing and business analytics would have a direct say and impinge the main development phase of the game (add-ons incl.) with strict deadlines. The concept is mind blowing. But I have questions how mechanics of the game will allow characters interact with objects, when we see they're as customable as possible. You can't create millions of poses for even different chair height

I bet they'll do it algorithmically, they'll have a few base animations, and the game will make tweaks to them mathematically to fit whatever piece of furniture they're interacting with, It would be tricky to do that, but if things are gonna be this customizable, that's the best way to make it work

If they do, as the replies suggest, use procedural animation then that would be ideal. However, I am still worried about this solution. First, it's impossible to ensure that clipping or stretching doesn't happen at all and every animation is seamless if it's done procedurally. This has already been pointed out. Natural animations (the sheer quantity of them) must already be one of the hardest things about life sims to get right, case in point: some of the rougher Paralives animations we've already been shown. Second, procedural animation takes away more processing power than traditional hand-crafted methods. The game is already stated to be set in an open world - the thing Sims 4 had actively foregone due to apparent performance issues. And that game still lags as hell. I haven't done procedural animation myself, let alone thoroughly benchmarking it, but I can't imagine it helps with performance at all.

The recent Sim City was a failure and Cities Skylines rushed a game out to fill in that niche. Sim City killed itself and Cities Skylines came in as a replacement. Many people forget how bad Cities Skylines was at release because it was a rushed release, but since it wasn't as bad as Sim City it was able to capture the market. It would not have taken over if Sim City was a competent release from EA. Lots of updates over the years and Cities Skylines is a great game, EA would have to outdo them to recapture the market which would be hard at this point since loyalty has shifted.

I'm hoping that a fully flesh-out life sim game does eventually kill Sims. But this isn't going to be the one to do it. It's not going to be released anytime soon and when it finally does get released it's going to be another Hokko Life - a game released without any meaningful content.

The way it looks so easy to use platforms and different level rooms in this game is so awesome 😭😭😭❤️

I like how the furniture comes with swatches already so us lazy people don’t have to color everything from scratch but also we can make our own colors

I love the graphics and the colour choice. I love the texture and everything. It looks so peaceful and cozy. I love the North American (especially Canadian) vibe of « la cabane à bois rond » it reminds me of renting a cottage in the Gatineau parc and just admiring the lake and the sunset. Yes! Exactly, it's the little things like that which adds realism to a house. Here it's rare to not see some form of sink drain, whether metal or carved into the countertop, if it's marble or similar materials. I wonder if the extra pillow gets removed when they go to bed.

@@Redd_Nebula they are using Machine Learning to adapt animations to all shapes and sizes (like most modern companies do). That limits workload and helps adapt one animation to all Paras and all situations you could think of. And I think pricing on items is like the least problem we should really have.

I love that the world isn't paused while building. Your characters stay put, but they're animated while waiting for their house. I love it!!

These aren't hard to implement once you have resizing and color customization for other items, but the fact that the sims doesn't do it makes it seem comparably impressive. Not to knock this game or it's development though, the paralives devs are doing a really good job and I can't wait.

I love that the animations continue as you build and the game isn’t paused. I don’t know how to explain it, it just adds a whole element to building the house

Lots of comments talking about EA, and it's justified. The salt is real! Indie devs just made a *multi-billion dollar company* look like the dirty thieves they are. I got so hyped when EA revealed they were making a 4th sims game,only to find out it wasn’t going to be as realistic I anticipated it would be.I got so,so mad that they made the game look good when in reality there wasn’t half of the features what we were used to.Like the sims 3 when you could make custom hair colours and the sims 2 being able to choose different colours for the headboard and the sheets.

EA is scared big time over this game lol, just announced Sims 5 with similar features planned and also made Sims 4 free to play

The game looks already amazing! I just wanted to compliment the team's hard work. No matter how long it takes to finish the game, I'm glad to see a cool game like this in development. Props to the sound designer and music producer, the song is really nice to listen to! I could probably listen to this outside of the game while I'm working!

this pre alpha has more complex build tools than the sims 4 in 7 years

The music composer responsible for this theme definitely hit the jackpot when it comes to theme and feel of the game! If the rest of the Paralives soundtrack will be similar to this, i'll be so excited! This game is going to be such a comfort to so many

I cannot wait for this. It is absolutely amazing what a small dev team has done in roughly 4 years. The attention to detail surpasses all of the Sims games by miles, & the art style is so cute/cohesive.

Lot history probably just mean that it let's you reset the house to before you made any changes. Or it's a list of other houses you've saved

@@simmernick9 Nah. I think your right it might be a history of builds you can restore. BUT they already confirmed there was going to be a town that comes with the game with lots you can demolish. Regardless I can’t wait to demolish old builds in order to progress my story and then be able to restore them when I don’t like where I went with it

I am so happy that you guys understand how customisation is at the heart of a life sim, if you can let people put a piece of themselves in the game and play it their way retention goes sky high. Also makes a game mighty addicting.

This background music is amazing!

I love how there isn't anything WEIRD that doesn't fit in at all. All the furniture/decorations are things you would HAVE in REAL life not some random SPACESHIP BUILDER IN YOUR BACKYARD or something that has a specific pattern that will NOT fit in with any design. Thank you Paralives

I like having weird furniture but stuff that's necessary for specific gameplay like making cupcakes or career-required items shouldn't have nothing but a weird option. I hope that there will be some weird items but always with another more versatile-looking item that does the same thing.

We can already do all of this in sketchup. The bigger challenge is how the ai is gon interact with those items. I just dont see this gon end well and not buggy

Sims: Let's add a sofa chair, maybe a 2-seat sofa, too. Paralives: Let's add a sofa that can turn into a million shapes, sizes, colors, patterns, with modular options for pillows, etc.

I mean atleast Ea’s giving us sectionals now, but they don’t have modular pillows, it’s been 6 years since release and in a pack, while Paralives has it in BASE GAME at LAUNCH

God, the music is so calming

I've watched this so many times, and I just have to say that this house reminds me a lot of some of the fancy guest homes available in South Africa at game reserves. Idk what it is, maybe its the colour scheme, but there's a familiarity to it for me.

The entire time the house is being built while your paras casually get mauled by mosquitos

so excited for this it looks incredible already. i’m so amazed with how customisable everything is and it’s still not done yet. incredible, absolutely in love with this!!

Looking at Paralives compared to The Sims is like getting out of a bad relationship (doesn't have to be romantic) then meeting someone new that treats you the way they're supposed to treat people. Slightly resentful that someone mistreated you for so long, but happy to have someone that treats you well. I'm really looking forward to this game.

I actually noticed a few things. For example, when they stretch the table, there's no texture in the middle of it. When they stretch the bed, the pillow sticks to the right, which I'm assuming will change into the pillow stretching as well, with it eventually being cut in the middle.

There were a few clippings, for example, on the steps. But overall, build mode looks amazing and should almost be finished 😁

It’s amazing all the things you can do « naturaly » in Paralives without cheats compared to the Sims serie just to build or decorate in a realistic way.

And this is why i call BS whenever anyone says EA isnt capable of giving us anything better. This game already looks 100x better than any sims game ever produced, and its made by a tiny team with probably not even HALF the budget EA has. Needless to say, im buying this the second it drops.

@squoosetiel how you concluded that from pre-alpha !? Customization does seem to look better, but yet they need to show AI interaction with build items, and interaction with other random AI. Problems may occur in future.

EA have already given us better, Sims 2 and Sims 3 are the best entries in the franchise. With how much money EA shells out for expansion packs that include the base game content that other games had, you would think they'd work on things that fans have been asking about for years. But they keep adding on to a framework that didn't even have pools to begin with, are you kidding. For a modern Sims game, it shouldn't be this subpar.

@@Jadisons yup, my exact problem with sims 4, i expected to have at least some basic things in the game like pets and seasons(dont know if they actually had that from the start) but when i saw everything game was lacking and plus they backstep game to just one lot with your house(instead of having entire city progressing in real time), it was clear it was pure money grab, i hope this game will be much much better. In recent years EA and 2k became worst companies!!

How can I like 1 thousand times!? It's evident the caring and the love involved in the production of this game! All the love for the team ❤️

This is beautiful already. Take your time and keep up the good work, what you are doing is so satisfying already.

The most incredible thing is that this is a pre-alpha, I swear to you that if I could I would invest all my money in this game.

@@pedro6720 If you do ever end up with a little to spare, you get a lot of insight of the development process from newsletters at the $5 level.

The level of customisation for building is fantastic. No clogging up the catalogue with different sized furnishings and building materials, just chose a style and shape it as you want. I can see this game will run very efficiently. Create till your hearts content. I'm confident the team have sorted routing/usability issues as this has taken years to develop to this point.

Im honestly amazed by how it looks, the way you can just use one item and make a thousand different things with it with all the customization options is truly astonishing. What worries me is, how will this actually work out in a game that seeks to function as Sims does. I mean, for example the coffe tables, one is somewhat covered by the bigger one so, would that rend it useless? How about the first sofa they placed, it seems to have any point an animation plays blocked off so, it'd just be there for the looks? Not tyring to sink the proyect or so, I'm more than sure the team behind this has a tohusand and one creative ieas to solve problems I can't think of right now, but I truly am curious of what this game has to give and now that thye actually popped un on E3 (Or the events surrounding E3, for that matter) I can only have great hopes for Paralives. Little PD I wanna throw out, the work they have right now is somethign I would already pay full prie to just have and mess around with. I've seen actual interior design focused applications less developed than this.

I'm more in the negative of this actually. The game looks awesome there is no doubt that but I believe team would need excellent optimization as well as really great ways of Paras to understand how each item will work. This depth of customization brings a lot of problems. Like how will Para's react when there is a chair between wall and enlarged table. What will happen when a Para sees a paining too high for them. Another thing is those different sized furnishings allowed less experienced builders to throw something fast no problem. I think this kind of customization will make it harder to enter the building scene. I support this game and I hope it does really great to start a good sort of competition with other life sim games.

@@metaboi488 the AI they use is one that adapts as it goes along. its used in some fighting game too (i forget the name. it sounded like it was something one shouldve heard of) yes there are things to consider, but they already are and the progress is looking great so

Love your guys content! I'd die for another build playthrough. Even if it didn't show much of anything new but these are very calming and once again show off the amazing craftsmanship you all put into the game. Regardless, I love what you give us now. Thank you for your work as always!

With the amount of people who play Sims who are very into building they could release this as a stand alone building demo and people would shit bricks lol

I hope EA looks at this and goes, "Welp, we fucked up." Because this is a game that is worth looking forward to.

Love the videos! You put so much time and work into them and they make my day better

The scaling is genius. It must be that you take a slice of edges and scale that - a really simple idea I'm surprised I haven't seen anywhere else.

Has anyone else that's been following the progress on this game spent 90% of their time daydreaming about how AWESOME it's gonna be when sims builders on youtube get their hands on this game?? Like don't get me wrong, I wanna play the game myself, DESPERATELY, but I'm MOSTLY looking forward to the Absolutely Crazy Houses that are gonna get built from this super customizable masterpiece of a simulation game.

You pretty much can already see what people would do with this. This is similar to stuff like Planet Coaster. Even when on beta versions - it already allowed for people to create extremely beautiful stuff.

Even in it's incomplete stage the building looks a lot more intuitive than the Sims, it feels very no fighting around with cheats or terrain elevation. I like how you can stretch or shrink things as you like make it more convenient and allows you to use pretty much any furniture you want. Hope this game releases soon.
