Paradisus Palma Real V. The Reserve | Dominican Republic | 2017
Here is a video talking about our hotel/resort on our latest trip to the Dominican Republic.
The day we checked in the hotel we booked (Paradisus Palma Real) was oversold. They placed us in the Reserve (which is like a mini resort in the back) for the night. They left our Reserve bands on so we were truly able to experience both. In this video we talk about our experiences with both and what we would choose in the future.
We booked our trip through their main website (melia.com). We initially found them in our golf searches. Staying there did wave the green fees to Cocotal Golf & Country Club but we still had to pay the cart fee which was roughly $60 each. I will be sharing another video on that course (:
Some things I forgot to mention...
The staff is crazy helpful and kind.
The Reserve room service is way better and their buffet was never as busy as the main resorts (which makes sense, fewer people).
The reserve also provided a loofa in the shower- something I find to be a major perk. ;-)
And apparently, the booze is better at the Reserve (I didn't pay attention to the label but he did ;-)
I must say that if you went dancing or to the casino, club, beach, etc. at night it is nice to just walk to the room when you are done.
Finally, we stayed in the Royal Service area of the main hotel. We didn't get the benefits of the Royal Service but had a room right off of the lobby which was lovely.

Wow I can't believe that you went there! We actually took a leap of faith and booked the reserve for our honeymoon but we were wishing we had a better idea of what we were getting. Thanks so much!!!

The place looks wonderful. If you go back to the DR, I'd encourage you to consider visiting a local boys and girls club and taking a little bit of your vacation time to learn about the local living conditions for many of the locals. I was in Puerto Plata in neighborhoods where families have no running water, sewage running through the tiny streets and their homes are shacks (many taken with last year's floods) of metal or at best, cinderblock. They don't have room service - lucky to have enough to eat every day. You know how amazing the local people are - the kids I met have the brightest smiles and now they have educational dreams! I volunteered with Dove Missions, if you go to the north of the DR. There are great resorts there, too - and you can meet the awesome kids from Dove Missions. :-)
I From Dominican Republic, and love it, The Reserve of Paradisus Palma Real, i buy always the Swin up suite.

Yeah... not sure that we would've used it (we never used either tub lol) but it would be nice to have, especially with the kiddos.
I’m going to the Reserve in June. Will we be allowed to used the premises at The Paradisus also? Like the swimming pool and restaurants? Thanks you!
Same happened to me and my mom except they replaced our entire stay at the reserve (7 days) :)
