Parable - Journey to the Birthplace of John The Baptist

John The Baptist had a powerful message: that baptism could save your soul, and even Jesus himself took him up on his offer and was famously baptized in the Jordan River. The baptist's fiery preaching style drew massive crowds in 1st century Israel and some say John was bigger than Jesus at the time. Join Simcha as he explores the story of this legendary figure and visits the cave and alleged birthplace of the man himself .

    Two things emerged in.my.mind watching this. First is from my roots back in India. There too the Manuvadis propaganda till this day is of one can "wash off one's sins by performing Holy dip in Ganges". Just last month that kind of "cleansing through Holy dip" took place and as being one causing the unprecedented rise in Covid cases today across the world in India. Implying it is not the almighty God who will be the judge of what each human being did during his/her life on earth, but just by taking a dip the sins can be washed away. And that dip is performed with the aid of priests This is identical to the Baptism dip controlled and performed under the guidance of a priest without that it cannot take place. Hence the power being shifted from almighty God to a human priest! 2. Also having studied in a Catholic school whose principal was a reverend I recall how Jesus was opposed by powerful money lending Jews operating from right inside the Temple in Jerusalem. I recall reading a portion from Bible where how Jesus throws out such money lenders from the temple and letting the poor waiting outside on steps of the temple to come inside and pray. So the animosity of the Jews money lobby towards Jesus is from the day one when Jesus as a Prophet according to Islamic history was born. Now there is every attempt to downplay significance of Jesus by propping up others exactly the way the Wahabis have been doing in Islam to downplay Mohammad as the Prophet in as many ways they can. Conclusion: To me this is a well designed and executed propaganda by the Juda Christanity lobby meaning zionists to defame Jesus Christ. This is unfortunate and should not be allowed and preferably exposed.

    He was not more important. He was the key to having Jesus "outed" as the Son of God. If you read the parable, John was baptizing people in the river Jordan. This was important in that John was doing so. Jesus (Son of God) had to be baptized. This was Anointing Jesus (with water and words). If you read the parable, a Dove (sign of the Holy Spirit) with the voice of (God the Father) hovered over Jesus, "This is my Son of whom I am proud". That marks a physical fact that Jesus is The Son of God (part of the Holy Trinity). This was the Anointing of Jesus with words and water.

    He broke the good ties to the Nabatean kingdom of Aretas and instantly engaged in a war. It’s the reason why Paul spent 3 years in Arabia. The Acts of the Apostle‘s mention a rescue operation to help Paul out from Damascus back to Jerusalem as Jews are blamed for persecuting him. Paul himself says that he fled to Petra and it was the Arabs that surrounded him. I think Hyam Maccobi and Robert Eisenman are a good read on John‘s beheading.

    The role of John the Baptist God & Jesus had great hopes that John the Baptist would prepare the people to listen, respect and follow Jesus. This was what John should have devoted his whole life to do. Not get himself put into prison where he was no help to Jesus at all. Indeed prison does not appear to have helped his spiritual life as he ended up doubting who Jesus was as we see in Matthew 11:2-3 Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, “Are you who is to come or shall we look for another?” Reading Matt 11;4-6 is Jesus' reply. It strikes one as being very disappointed of John, and ends “And blessed is he who takes no offence at me.” John was meant to be Jesus' greatest disciple who would testify to the Jewish religious leaders that Jesus was the Messiah. But in even that John fails when he denies being Elijah, John 1:21

    @@gustavmahler1466 Baptism serves as a step of obedience for those who have chosen to believe in Jesus Christ by faith. Jesus commanded His followers to baptize disciples in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus Himself was baptized as well, emphasizing its important role. Baptism has always held a significant role in Christianity, yet it was established as a step of obedience for those who had already placed their faith in Jesus. Baptism does not save a person; it publicly shows that a person has already become a follower of Jesus.

  • @nightshade99

    @nightshade99

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@gustavmahler1466 This is the meaning of 1 Peter 3:21: Peter has just concluded several difficult-to-understand verses with a reference to the ark of Noah. In this craft, eight people were "brought safely through the water." In this verse, he writes that baptism corresponds to the water of Noah's flood. This is also a controversial verse. Bible scholars offer differing interpretations of it. Part of the issue is that the New Testament clearly and repeatedly teaches that salvation from hell comes only through faith in Christ, by God's grace (Ephesians 2:8-9). Christians were expected, even commanded, to be baptized. However, the act of baptism is an expression of faith and obedience, not the means of salvation. (See Colossians 2:12; Galatians 3:27; Romans 6:3-5.) Is Peter contradicting that idea when he writes that baptism now saves us? Clearly, based on his other writings, Peter is not suggesting that the mechanical act of being baptized is what makes a person saved for eternity. Instead, taking the verse as a whole, he seems to be saying that the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead saves us. It is this resurrection which Christians publicly express their faith in when being baptized. This is supported by Peter's inclusion of the phrase "which corresponds to this," suggesting a parallel, rather than an identical purpose. Another possible reading is that the word "saves" doesn't refer to eternal salvation, at all. Instead, by this view, Peter is saying that the act of publicly identifying ourselves with Christ, through baptism, saves us from being tempted to hide our faith to avoid the suffering and persecution of Christians Peter has been addressing. In any case, this water baptism is not about making a person clean in their flesh. It's about asking God for a good conscience, or standing identified with God with a good conscience. In 1 Peter 3:16, Peter wrote that Christians should live in the world with a good conscience so that nobody can have a valid reason for accusing us of doing anything wrong. The act of being publicly baptized was part of establishing that good conscience with God and before a watching world. And, again, as the final phrase of the verse states, this is all made possible through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead that reveals the power of God to give eternal life. By your referendum, a repentant soul on their deadbed without access to water baptism is doomed to hell; that is just not so in the eyes of God. A great example is the thief on the cross.

    Johns baptism was not in literal water. It was baptism of REPENTANCE. Then YHWH would come to bapttize you with his spirit. The whole story got corrupted by the pagans.John the Baptist is Yeshua after his spiritual resurrection at the Jordan when he received his NEW NAME Philippians 2:10. The same name we all receive. The christ IN YOU is the hope of glory. John was the first annointed one of many annointed elect sons, the servants the prophets.If you read the birth stories in Matthew and luke its pretty clear John was the one prophecied to prepare the way for the holy spirit Isaiah 40:3, not another leader. In fact, there's no prophecies about Paul either unless you consider the false prophet that used others writings as his own and inserted himself as the anointed one to the gentiles. Not true. John was along with the other 11. The reason John gets smaller over time is because its an allegory. The old man must get smaller so the new man (christ) can increase. This happens to us all as the spirit and Word rises within us. John said i must decrease so he can increase. He was talking about the spirit and Word rising within him. Most of the gospels are are a hidden allegory for those who can find it. Jesus is the NEW man the last Adam within John. Its not two separate persons. John is Yeshua after his resurrection into a new creation.
