To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Papuri! in 1988, FEBC mounted a Papuri! 10 concert at the Rizal Theater in Makati. I was one of the composers and songwriters who pioneered Papuri! in 1978. I was designated as musical director and arranger, tasked to arrange all songs and two medleys including PAPURI! CLASSICS MEDLEY, considered by most as the best and the most beloved Papuri medleys of all time, performed by JOEL NAVARRO, ROMY DINGLAS, CARLA MARTINEZ, JANNETTE RODRIGO, JAI SABAS-ARACAMA and REUBEN LAURENTE! This timeless and iconic Christian songs medley is always performed as a production number in concerts and churches in the Philippines, USA, Canada and probably around the world. Audience burst into thunderous applause every time they hear the first strains of the intro and they could not help but sing along with the performers! It was not a daunting task to arrange this medley because the songs I handpicked had very beautiful melodies which really stood the test of time!
BACKSTORY: Instrumental and vocal recording were all done at the home music recording studio of Filipino legendary drummer, Mr. Jun Regalado, at Better Living Village in Parañaque. Vocal recording was scheduled after office hours because our singers had corporate and day jobs so we ended sessions in the wee hours of the morning. That was how dedicated the Papuri singers were! According to Reuben Laurente, I was very hands on as musical director, coordinator, overseer and vocal coach. Reuben and the rest of the cast had a fun and enjoyable experience performing at the iconic Rizal Theater in Makati.

Napanood ko nung kantahin ni bro. Romy Dinglas itong kantang to sa CMA church sa Quezon city during the early 80's. Maikukumpara ko si brother Romy kay Keith Green sa kanyang comment na noon panahon na yon konting Tao Lang umattend sa church, Sabi n'ya kakanta pa rin sya. Nakita ko, it's for the glory of God kaya sya umaawit parang si Keith Green. Nowadays sad to say, contemporary Christian music is more on the money.

hindi po natin dapat ikompara ang mga awiting ukol sa Dios ayon sa sarili nating panlasa - una na nga ay hindi ito ignava para sa ating pakinig kundi sa kaluguran ng Dios. Ang turo noon ng aking ama, "Kung iniisip mo na ikaw ay nasa batis, at wala kang marinig na lagaslas ng tubig, malamang wala ka sa batis."
