Kendrick said some shit in the name of hip-hop. It had to be New York, because the whole craft of hiphop was birthed in that location. Saying "Im the king of hiphop" wouldn't have put enough ripples in the proverbial pond, Kendrick wasn't taking shots at New York, he was challenging the niggas in HipHop by addressing the source. But you can't tell this to a NY nigga.

I agree with papoose but the the king of New York thing is kinda bullshit I mean you don't need to me from the city to be the king. I mean kobe the king of la he from Philly and Italy. Michael jordan the king of chicago he ain't from there. Tupac from the east but was saying west side near the end of his career. I just think kendrick lamar is not that nigga to say he the king of New York. He still like in his sophomore season and shit.

You telling the truth man. People don't know the difference between challenge, competitive, and disrespect. To them it's all the same. It's NOT. If I was a rapper, then I would have took it as a challenge, but not so much personally. I would have rapped on the beat and took it as a lyrical challenge, but no shots at him. To many people are ignorant. If it ain't the same, people feel like it's "disrespect."

I see why this washed up rapper isn't more well known or liked today. I mean his attitude is sh!t, and comes off very ignorant and self righteous for no reason at all, sort of like Canibus does in every interview I've seen him in. I never knew or saw what the big deal was over Papoose, even back when he released "Alphabetical Slaughter". I mean let's be real, can anyone honestly say that was one of the most impressive Rap records ever produced or recorded back then? Yet, heads were flippin' and buggin' out as if it was the illest sh!t they'd ever heard in their entire lives, elemayo! ;p I've heard better wordplay and flows from Big L, The Pharcyde, Boogiemonsters, Large Professor, Chino XL, Ras Kass, Dres (from Black Sheep), Masta Ace, Special Ed, just to name a few. Even, MC Ren, Ice Cube and DJ Quik had way better quality writing and recordings back then than anything Pap has out now or before and they're not even considered that lyrical, even though they are but white media classifies them as "gangsta rappers". He sounds like just another loud, angry, talent-less rapper with a chip on his shoulder if you ask me. He may even be one of the coolest, down to earth people you'd ever meet behind closed doors in real life, without cameras around but just from this interview alone, I wouldn't want to work with him.
