Papillon Grand Canyon 'Imperial' Ecostar Helicopter Tour 21/8/2016 / Korg Kronos
What an absolutely fabulous way to blow some dollars! When the money is gone, it's gone, but nobody can take away memories like this. I'd been to the Grand Canyon a few years back and found it difficult to take in simply by standing on the rim. I figured that flying over it (and in it) would give it some scale. I was right! You just can't see most of it from the rim. Flying over the edge of the rim was a fabulous - if buttock clenching - experience, if you get my drift...
As you will see, the weather was not the best, but it was all the more dramatic for that. Note the lightning in the opening and closing shots. The boys looked a bit shocked as they boarded, but until an hour before the flight they didn't know that we were going to do this.
Tom used the GoPro Hero 4 although we weren't allowed to take the stabilising gimbal, so apologies for the shaky bits. I used the Panasonic SD900, and the stabiliser on that had a hard time from the vibration of the helicopter.

I just did that same flight, and there's no way to put flying over the Grand Canyon into words. There isn't, you're mind is completely blown. This is a must for anyone who's never seen the Grand Canyon, and wants to experience it in one of the best ways possible.

Really great video of your Grand Canyon trip....What a way to see it all....I understand the 'Buttock Clenching' bit only too well. It's a long way down in such awesome surroundings...Yep, i noticed the Lightning both times too...Superb Music too...Best wishes....Steve.-:)

Hi there; I have a 3-axis gimbal device for stabilizing the GoPro. They said it was a 'selfie stick' and was not allowed (should have just put it in my pocket...) Cameras and camcorders are fine; however no camera bags or carry-on luggage of any form. Hope this helps; book up, you'll love it! Cheers, Dave
