Having that noticed made me happier than it probably should have haha! I often ended up doing several run throughs of songs I've learnt specifically focusing on working out the best volume/tone/switch settings for different sections, then practicing getting the timing right for the changes. I also have a somewhat obsessive habit of repeatedly checking that I haven't accidentally bumped the volume control when it should be up full (which is probably noticable here and in my other videos). Certainly a lot of tonal control there that is often neglected.

Wow man. Phenomenal. I've been listening to lots of Plini lately but Paper Moon is my current favorite. Just kind of stumbled into this video. Very inspiring. I have a Boden CL7 OS that I almost never use, and an Axe FX 2 XL. I'll definitely be grabbing that preset. You say drop Db but I assume that's the 6-string tuning? Is 7th tuned to Ab? Just curious.

I’m a few years too late but it’s probably tuned down to keep the tension even across the strings so you don’t have too much tension on the lower string as opposed to the less tense upper strings Im assuming, unless he just has a heavier gauge

I did actually quite like the 707Xs that came stock with the guitar, but I already had the Seymour Duncan Pegasus and Sentient set in another guitar so I knew that I preferred the voicing of them and decided to swap them. Active pickups also restrict you from being able to split coils unless you have certain models, so that was another deciding factor when choosing to swap them out. If you're in the market for pickups voiced to this genre, the Pegasus and Sentients are great and not too expensive. Bareknuckle pickups have a range of pickups voiced to this style too which have a pretty good reputation, though I haven't used them myself and they're a bit pricey. Anything that is sort of medium output with an emphasis on the midrange should work.

I love it! I was wondering if you could help me out with something. I just got a Strandberg boden os 6 but I can't tune it to drop Db. The tuning cap falls off as if I'm going to restring the guitar. How can I take it down to the lower tuning? Does Eb and D just fine but won't go any lower.

How did you go about achieving this tone? I downloaded the preset and it sounds pretty good (different guitar/pickups changes it quite a bit), but I'd like to know if there are any little tricks to getting these modern tones.

Hey man, just a quick question about your .strandberg* After having it for a few months, do you think it was worth it? I've been heavily considering picking up one of the new OS 8s with Lace pickups in the near future, but I'm not sure if it would be the best decision. I mean, the new Kiesel fanned Vaders (27.5-26) are MIA and probably going to be a few hundred cheaper, and the Ormsby HypeGTR (28.2-25.5) line's 8 is about $1400 or so. Is the hiked up price worth it for the fan (28-26.5 on the 8), Lace pickups, light weight, unique body shape, and the Endurneck when compared to the other comparable models I listed?

+Mason Stanley Hey man. For me, it was worth it and I've contemplated getting another Boden OS 6. There isn't really a black and white answer to whether or not it will be worth it for you. I haven't played a Kiesel Vader myself so I can't give a a direct comparison, but from my experience with the Boden OS line, there isn't any issue with quality coming out of its Korean production. It has been on par with or has exceeded the feel and general quality of every other high-end guitar I've come into contact with. The main difference between the two is going to be the EndurNeck and the relative difference in levels of customization, and your decision will likely come down to that. Obviously it's difficult for you to know if the EndurNeck is an important factor for you if you haven't had any experience with it, but for me it's the single most unique and interesting aspect and sets it apart from others. They're both high-end guitars and you'll be happy with either. I wrote a review of it a few months after I got it and I still feel the same way about everything (although there is now obviously a passive pickup option which is awesome). Get on the Fractal Forum and download FracTool. It will allow you to open/view/import Axe FX II files for use into your AX8. I just used it to look at the file and the preset is using the Tucana models (both clean and lead). FWIW, Plini is using the HBE model during his current tour.

Mauro Pazmiño Thanks for watching man! It's just the regular straight set. I haven't noticed any issues with the tone as a result of the poles being slightly misaligned, so I'm not concerned about it. ☺
