    This is brilliant! I have one of those brick makers, and you've solved all the problems with these gadgets. When I squeeze the water out, the bottom screen wants to pop out, but the steel bar you have under it to prevents that. I sit on a short stool with the mold the ground. You've brought it up to a comfortable height. And because you have it mounted on a wall it makes it easier to pull out the brick, as opposed to me using my toes to hold the mold while I pull out the brick. Bravo!!!

    Thanks so much, I bought one of those briquette makers - it wasn't easy to use. Your system is just perfect and achievable. Having it on the wall... Brilliant! I can not complement your work enough. Incidentally to make life easier, I use magnets to hold the press of my can crusher in the upright position.

    Now *that's* a lever! I would have suggested to cut a few slits into the sides to let the water that squeezes out the top to drain better.

    Best brick press design ive seen yet. The hydraulic presses are too slow. The standard press too weak. This is a great idea.

  • @ronillius01

    @ronillius01

    a hydraulic press would easily have a lot more compression though - what you lose in speed you regain in density and strength. i agree the standard press does suck for sure! id say this design is a good alternative for those who can't get/use a press.

    I live in Ireland, this is a great idea as job is gone, need to economise and we rely on solid fuel stove for heat. I have contacted John here to see if it's still available as can't see on eBay. Would a local metal worker be able to fabricate one of these if I bought the basic unit for him to work with? Would appreciate you assistance and an idea of expense? Thanks in advance.

  • @robertdieder4178

    @@lisachalfa8494 any local metal worker should be able to fabricate one of these with some square tubing and sheet metal. It's just a constructed lever, the bricks themselves could be pressed into a cylinder mold for round brick discs if desired.

    Had one of these presses in the 90's. If I had your set-up then, I'd still have it. Top marks. Was thinking if you just squeezed the paper mash before you place it in the press, you could get rid of some water.

    @gummyybearr3164

    Only thing I can oppose with that idea is maybe instead of replacing the chain, is to just add a magnet to it and keep the chain. So the magnet can hold it between uses but store it with the chain on. Magnets are great and can be hidden quite well but it has to be weak enough to be easy to pull down, but strong enough to hold it up - which leads to risks of having it accidentally swing down. Having the chain there for hold it up when not in use would be the same as having the safety on with a weapon.

    Your paper log makers are good and well built so can understand the price but it will take some time to make it cost effective. Unless this is your only source of fuel. The multimafe will save you a lot of time although once you are up and running if you keep making them every week you can have a more a less constant supply especially if you’ve made a lot when it’s warm weather.

    To be honest, this looks a good idea but is NOT. ;) Recycling paper this way will cost more trees to be cut down to make new paper. It takes much more energy to make new paper from trees then from old paper. BUT much worse is the fact that you burn all the ink that is on the paper. This is not so ECO. But if you're looking for a perfect way to evaporate chemicals into the air. This is the way to do it.
