PAPALO: The RARE Cilantro Herb You Never Heard Of - How To Grow Papalo From Seed To Harvest
Learn how to grow papalo from seed to harvest with this easy guide! Papalo is a heat-tolerant cilantro substitute (herb) that is easy to grow in your garden. If you're curious about what papalo is and how to grow it, this video is for you! Papalo thrives in high heat conditions making it a great choice to grow over the summer. It has a flavor very similar to cilantro without tasting like soap (if you're one of those people that taste soap when you eat cilantro).
Papalo botanical name: Porophyllum ruderale
Also goes by these names: Quilquiña, Papaloquelite, Yerba Porosa

I planted some last year. We are in Central GA (Zone 8B). They grew well. This year, they came up by themselves. It's definitely a good plant that would survive extreme heat in sandy soils.
Sweet! Would be a good addition to my African blue basil as a Florida summer herb.
I’m in southeast Texas and I grew papalo from seed several years ago and now I get massive volunteer plants every year. It’s so nice it handles our horrendous heat through Simmer.

Yup! I don't need to sow seeds anymore because it reseeds all over the place on its own and I am completely fine with that.

Was 'simmer' intentional? If so, good one! If not (u is next to i), perhaps even better! We're definitely starting to simmer here in ATX...

LOL I have so many videos lined up for all the different crops/plants
Ironically this video came into my feed while I am harvesting my mature cilantro seeds... a big mess on my living room floor! Definitely need to try pápalo in summer...

I can't eat Cilantro because of the gene that makes it taste like Soap and Stinkbugs mix 😂 and was always wondering what it would taste like without the nasty flavor. Thanks !
