I think you did a great job. It is easy to get out dated items at a vaation home. I think it will work out better for all of you. You have a great mother-in-law. Great job done to both of you! You make me want to do my own!

I use the wide mouth mason jars and wide mouth jar lid vacuum seal adapter! And my pantry looks so uniform and neat. I have tall ones for spaghetti also.

Thanks for sharing the process of organizing your pantry. I'm sure the family will appreciate being able to actually find things in there now!

@cp92280 I find that if you set aside a certain amount of time to work on a specific thing (for example, 20 minutes to pick up the kitchen), and actually set a timer and stick to it, you get so much more done than you would've guessed was possible!

I noticed that too and actually liked it more than organizing. I wanted to ask her if it's "Bare minerals" because it looks like it. However it seems like Jen does not read this comments and does not respond to them which is a MINUS, because people after all do have questions and would lie to get an answers. That is a corner stone of teaching. However we should be grateful for her effort.

You'll be so happy to know they're finally getting a giant container store in UT. It opens fall 2014 I saw it in a mall in south salt lake, Fashion Place Mall, and thought of this video where you mentioned it. Perhaps your organizing will be easier here in UT, at your other home, now that we are finally getting a container store!

I'm excited about it too. I just moved back Salt Lake City from San Diego and I thought I was going to really miss going to The Container Store all the time! I can't wait until it opens in October :)

Thanks Jen! I love to organize too,I kinda got off track this past year being so busy but now you have inspired me to get reorganized! I love the bins! Right now I use cardboard boxes and group the breakfast,lunch,dinner,pet food,snacks,and baking...its so handy just to grab an go! The pantry looks awesome! Alot of families do; I have one a little bigger than theirs; and she right when she comments that long and shallow is better than a deep pantry. Many times I have bought duplicates because I couldn't find the item inside the pantry way in the back of one of the shelves.

I am cleaning up my pantry thanks to this video. Your mother in law has the same pantry style as mine, I live in a house built in the 70's. I like it when things are organized, but I have a hard time getting it started. Once it is organized, I put things back. Anyway, thank you for your video. You are amazing!! xxx Rebecca

Jennifer Ross I was wondering what the first video I ever saw of your, for some resign I thought I had been following you from the start (your first ever video) I must be mistaken because I am sure this video was the first one I watched of yours. It was a video that stuck in my mind and got me hooked, I still love coming to the family holiday home, the loftice (office in a loft) is one of my favourite places because it is such a cosy snug place to get away, a place for me time. A cup of tea a slice of cake in the loftice is a piece of haven on earth, and a speedy connection to wifi of course lolll xx

thanks for sharing, I tend to like those small stair step risers for cans and because I have little doxie dogs, things on the floor level are too tempting for them, so appliances like the bread machine and large food processor live there. ps winnie is super cute!

do you label the boxes so that all the family members that are there, when you are not, know where to put what?

Mason Jars are great for storing and easy to see. Although the bins are cute, they take up tremendous space over time. :)

Jen, do family members make fun of you because you like to organize? My sisters have always kidded me because I like to organize things so much. My daughter is the same as me. Going to the Container Store is a really fun outing for us! LOL

I am shocked you did not use tiered shelves for the canned goods and a turntable for the bigger condiments etc on the right of the cans.

I'd like to know if this pantry is still as organised three years later.

All my dry goods and powder goods are stored in half gallon glass mason jars vacuumed sealed with a top of the line game saver silver Foodsaver. I filled to the inch mark and crunch a coffee filter and put the lid and use the vacuum jar lid adapter and vacuum and then I tighten the ring food stay fresh away from bugs and rodents

I doubled the can space by adding wire stackable racks from target :)

Question? Where do you store peanut butter? Pantry or fridge?

Maybe you mentioned this in the video...I didn't get to watch the whole thing, but you should get the 3 tiered plastic shelves to put on your pantry shelves for cans and smaller items so you can see all of them without picking up the back rows to take a peek at what you have.

I watch a few people on KZread regularly and the last video I watched inspired me to tear my mother's pantry apart and clean/organize. I also watched your video and while it is a vast improvement from the orig. it could still be better. Please watch the beginning of this video and prepare to be inspired lol... It is by Alejandra Castillo and she goes by Home Organization on you tube. The video is called The Most Organized Home in America(i think) and she is def that! Love it!

With so many people using this area, what might be helpful to kee it all organized is LABELS!!! Do you every label? I don't recall ever seeing you label anything . . . maybe you just keep it all in your head . . .
