Death Metal Thrash Metal after sitting down and listening to the last 5 Pantera albums from start to finish, I have concluded that Phil is, hands down, the greatest metal singer and frontman of all time. What other metal vocalist started out singing power metal falsetto vocals like Rob Halford, then progressed to death metal and other extreme vocal styles? All while fronting one of the most influential bands of all time.
Vinnie Paul and Dimebag were panteras heart and soul... its insane that two brothers from texas that just wanted to jam, and make kick ass music, created a whole ass sound for the 90's that has yet to be replicated. Rest easy Dime - Vinnie Paul... texas aint the same without these cowboys from hell

Amen brother. I'm down deep in the woods of coastal S E Tex. Dime is the best, no doubt. But I'm trying to figure out if there is any drummer out there that is comparable to Vinnie Paul? So we're at the small club, me and my girl in the back at a table but when they cranked up, it immediately blew everything away I'd ever heard, I said I'm going in , tried 2-3 times, it was impossible, pit too tight and violent. They took a break to have a bikini contest. I got a couple of drinks, couple of shots in me. When they cranked back up, I was breathing fire. I hit the pit with everything I had. Got the sht beat out of me the whole way but finally made it to the front, smashed against the stage in front of Dime with his sweat being slung on me. Phil's vocals on this album beat every other album, hands down.
@LCRLive687

That is an invalid statement because he did the aggressive style much better and more. Developed on the later album than he did here. And the vocal style he used on each album was designed for each one of those albums. And the point was as the album's got heavier and more aggressive, his vocal had to match it. And each one of those albums after was just as good as cowboys. Just unique and evolving more vicious. But Phil delivered on each one and his signature vocal style and range developed to its max by Great Southern Trendkill.

The solo on this one actually sounds like a psycho holiday, a descent into madness. Not always the biggest fan of shredding solos as they can come off as self-indulgent at times (to me, anyway), but this one really suits what the song is getting at.

@@krikahalo I think there's actually some great Thrash Metal. I just don't get anything out of the stuff that thinks you can dispense with virtually the traditional facets of songwriting and performance like interesting lyrics, melodies, motifs, hooks and dynamics and replace all that with blistering aggression and technique for technique's sake. The latter approach just comes off as boring, one-dimensional and deeply unsatisfying.

Dimebag was so damn good playing the guitar, that he didn't use high dollar tube guitar amps, he used Randall RG100 heads for most of his career. They only cost about $250 a piece back then. Definitely...this album was instantly loved by me and my friends
"Psycho Holiday" Empty and sweating Head lying in your hands Shaking in the corner Done too much alcohol Gotta get away from it all 'Cause it feels my blood is freezing My self insanity has taken its toll Frustration has taken its control Now I'm far from home Spending time alone It's time to set my demons free Been put to the test My mind laid to rest I'm on a psycho holiday Shot down on sight You are the target of attention One woman here another there You can't please all the people all the time Can't tell the strangers From the friends you know Frustration has taken it's control Now you're far from home Spending time alone It's time to set your demons free Been put through the test Your mind laid to rest You're on a psycho holiday I'm strapped in for life Is this where I lived Or where I died You want my money You take my space My mind is telling me To leave this place My self insanity has taken its toll Frustration has taken its control Now you're far from home Spending time alone It's time to set your demons free Been put through the test Your mind laid to rest You're on a psycho holiday

Someone here said Pantera will never die and people are arguing. One guy said GIVE IT 20 YEARS. I'm posting here because the comment is 6 years old. Pantera's music has a timeless quality. I was giving this kid a ride home from work. He was a temp and I don't think he was old enough to drink. Anyway,I had been playing Reinventing The Steel in my car and when we rolled off "It Makes Them Disappear" stared up and there was a sense of wonder in his voice when he asked IS THIS NEW? A song nearly two decades old. So I schooled him on Pantera and he said he was going to check them out on youtube as soon as he got home. I helped to make a new fan that day; I've helped to make many... and he will likely do the same in turn. Pantera will never die.
That main riff is so simple but so goddamn electric
30 years later and you cant fault it. timeless classic.
That solo. RIP Dimebag Darrell ❤️
Diss song is badass , PANTERA is da greatest Heavy Metal band ever !
That particular lead solo is the Reason PANTERA Didn't Need a Second Guitarist 🤟🕶🤙🏆 🧨💥🎶
The best energy of any metal band ever 👌
Now i´m in the middle 40´s and i still freak out ........ Pantera still here ........ Vinnie & Dimebag still do some music above us ....... !!!!
The outro section is so goddamn heavy!! 🤘🏻
Damn, I love that shuffle Vinnie has going on.
Stands the test of time 100%
Just an Almighty SLEDGE-HAMMER⚒️To the SOUL⚡
Pantera rips man.... FOREVER!
Can't think of any other pantera's song that reflects the natural chemistry between the Abbott Bros!
Loved Pantera from the first song I heard Cowboys From Hell that first album introduced me to a whole new love for Metal, I was already a big Metal fan with Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Priest, Metallica and Megadeth and when I heard this I couldn't stop listening to it, it was an addiction Dimes crazy screaming guitar solos and badass riffs just blew my mind and Phils vocals were in your face and incredible, Vinnies thunderous drumming bloody awesome and Rex held his own on bass such a unique sound could pick em out of a crowd will never be another band like them and will never be another guitarist like Dime R.I.P, and R.I.P Vinnie your music will live on forever 🍺🍻👌🤘🤘🤘
I just found the cowboys from hell demos on KZread and they are a must listen. Phil's vocals are even better than on the album version and all the demos are album quality too. The psycho holiday demos vocals are so clear and phil sounds incredible
Getcha pull! RIP Abbott brothers.
loved this whole album. its so heavy yet feel-good at the same time.
It's fans like me that keep them alive. ❤🤘 Still my fave jam.
killer live band back then; best times…never comes back
