Finally... Someone on KZread is recording how to repair crazing (cracks) in poly panoramic car roofs. Many cars have these. The only way to fix is to replace or... Maybe sand/polish/wrap or clear?

Just picked up a 2008 passion model yesterday. The roof is pretty bad as expected. As someone who has done a little bit of paint and bodywork and plenty of detailing before I will definitely be referencing this and trying to replicate the results. It’s going to be a daily driver so I’m not looking for perfection but any improvement would be great. Did you polish with regular paint polish and a DA buffer for the final stage?

An absolute amazing result. I would have never thought it possible. You give me inspiration. Can you confirm that the piano black plastic side trims were sanded in exactly the same format? ie Hard interface, 150, 320 etc - 3000?

That turned out awesome! I just got one question though, so from what I understand you used cheap paper from 150 grit all the way up to 3000 grit then you started with the kovax paper. What grits of kovax did you use and did you finish with the 800?

Do you think K grit is required or could i jist keep moving up to P3000 and so forth.

I have a Prius V with a massive panoramic roof and the whole thing is crazed. I didnt notice the problem until i bought the thing but it looked like the previous owners parked outside alot. Ive been worried about if i could sand/polish most of it out then clear the rest/wrap it.

The roof on my 09 Brabus is not as bad as the one you did, so there is hope, with a lot of work,

You really should have cleared it with 2 part urethane clear coat. That "cracking" known as crazing is use to UV damage. You need to put a UV resistant layer up there every few years in order to protect it from the sun. In your case since you already got a glass looking finish a clear paint protection vinyl wrap should protect it for 5-10 years.

They did it with 2nd generation (451) because of too many shattered glass roofs in 450...

what did you use to polish it? also is there any kind of protectant to prevent this from happening to my roof?

Shouldn't you shoot a clear coat over it like the head light lenses so it doesn't yellow and prevent the UV damage

What about sanding with a rotary sander ? I don’t understand when you said I didn’t have to paint the sunroof , if you painted it it wouldn’t be a see through would it ?🤔🤔🤔🤷‍♂️

Keramika za plastiku ide,ali na ovaj krov nije isla jer je musterija otisla i stavila ppf foliju sto je izdrzljivije od keramike

The panoramic roof material is polycarbonate not plastic. It is a harder material than plastic. Know your material makes a difference in how to restore its finish.

Also P800 and k800 can't really be compared directly. The K paper actually sands like a much higher grit similar to P1500 or P1000.

I never saw finishing,compound polishing etc

because the theme of the video was repairing damage by grinding, and it was polished with roto wool, ewocar compound and later with dual action as a finish

Why not use a soft pad like you would on a normal curved body pannel.

We didn't see how u finish the roof. After sanding whit 800 u finished the roof whit clear coating.
