Panic on the Circle Line

🚇 Unravel the mystery of the Circle Line's eerie panic attacks! 😱 Join us as we delve into the urban legend surrounding one of London's oldest underground lines. In the 1990s, bizarre electrical issues plagued the stretch between Baker Street and Edgware Road, leaving both administrators and passengers puzzled.
🕵️‍♂️ Train breakdowns and power outages were just the beginning. Operators reported an unsettling correlation between these incidents and passenger panic attacks. The investigation took a chilling turn when commuters revealed witnessing mysterious human figures outside the stranded carriages during power failures.
🏛️ Seeking answers, London Underground officials turned to the British Museum, unearthing a haunting connection to a medieval plague pit in the same vicinity. The Circle Line tracks were blessed, sprinkled with holy water, and a call for respectful behavior was issued to all workers in the area.
👻 Join us in exploring this spine-tingling tale and share your own bizarre Tube experiences in the comments below. Have you ever felt the presence of something otherworldly during your commute? 🚆✨

The Piccadilly line on the London Underground runs to Heathrow Airport, so many visitors use it. The line is over 100 years old and is one of the deepest on the system. The tube tunnels through which the trains travel are narrow, there's not much space between the tube wall and the trains, thus air-conditioning wasn't installed. It's coming soon though, which is awesome! @@larsondesouza2497

Unfortunately it is no longer the 'circle' line anymore, as it does not operate on a circle, but has a start and end point. I remember just knowing that if you got on the circle line it didn't matter which way you were going, you would get to the point you wanted. Now you have to be careful. Why did they change that?

It's still called the Circle Line but now includes the section from Edgware Road through Ladbroke Grove, Wood Lane and Shepherd's Bush Market to Hammersmith as well. This has produced two reversal points (Hammersmith and Edgware Road) for all trains, which makes it much easier for trains to recover in the event of late running (as Moorgate and Aldgate can also be used) and saves trains running in the same direction all day, reducing wear and tear on the wheel flanges.

The Circle Line is actually one of the youngest lines. It didn’t come into existence until 1949. From the 1880s until the early 1940s the map always showed the Circle Line as two separate Lines operated by the District Line and the Metropolitan Line. There used to be a circle service, actually there was three different circle services, but they were train services operated over the tracks of four or five different companies, typically running between Moorgate and Mansion House over a specified circular route. The Inner Circle became today’s Circle Line. The Middle Circle survives as two separate sections of track: the Circle Line between Edgware Road and Hammersmith, and the District Line between Olympia and South Kensington. The Outer Circle is basically today’s Overground.
