Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out | FULL ALBUM REACTION + ANALYSIS!
How's it going friends?!
I hope you're all having a wonderful day :) Today, I'm reacting to Panic! at the Disco for the first time! Hope you guys enjoy it! Below, you will find the timestamps of the video (which I will also pin in a comment as I've found that you can't actually click on these in the description when watching on mobile).

Most of the song titles (and lyrics) are either quotes or references of various movies, books etc.. For example "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothers off... but it's better if you do" is a line from the movie "Closer" said by Natalie Portman in a strip club which probably also influenced the theme of "But It's Better If You Do"

It's pretty impressive how they managed to take these references, incorporate them into their songs, and make them their own. It all felt so cohesive! Thanks for the info!
If it helps, Time to Dance was written based on a book called Invisible Monsters in which the novel opens with a ruined wedding and bride who has a shotgun. It's by Chuck Palahniuk, the same man who wrote Fight Club.

A ruined wedding and a shotgun-wielding bride? That's a heck of a way to start a novel 😂 It's pretty interesting that there's a certain extravagant cinematic quality to that passage (or at least how I imagine it), and the songs on this album seem to share that quality. Some pretty cool writing on this album. Thanks for sharing!

MFP Reacts no problem! It’s one of my favorite novels.
Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz was actually the guy who signed the band. The lead singer + only remaining member has stated multiple times that Fall Out Boy are like older brothers to him, and former Panic! member Spencer Smith works alongside Pete Wentz in his record label. The Panic! members during this album were Ryan Ross as guitarist and main lyricist, Brendon Urie as the frontman and singer, Spencer Smith as the drummer and Brent Wilson on bass. Brent Wilson was fired in 2006-ish

@@MFPReacts over the evolution of Panic!'s albums, members have left for a multitude of reasons, until only Urie remained. Urie has stated that a reason he doesn't branch off solo is because he doesn't want to leave Panic!, that the other guys left it but he just doesn't want to. Each member who left does play a some part in sound. I can inform you of the members who left before every album so that you can clearly spot the difference. Bassist Brent Wilson was fired after this album and replaced by Jon Walker. That didn't really affect the band as much

Awesome analysis and reactions! Great, man. Totally waiting for more :З thanks for your work Nails for breakfast and Camisado are connected indeed: they are both about Ryan Ross'(original guitarist and lyricist of the first two albums) abusive dad who had very huge problems with alcohol, had been taken into hospitals a lot and how Ryan was coping with that; he was trying to make this experience and pain go away by making songs from it Also fun fact: they were like 17 while recording this album :D

The intermission radio broadcast "ladies and gentlemen.." is a sample of Orson Welles "War Of The Worlds" which fits perfectly into the narrative of going from this radio/play to real world similar to how Orson Welles did
This is such an amazing analysis of the album.
Nice analysis! I love this album and love to hear interpretations of it because it's such a great piece of art. It boggles my mind that this was their debut.
Damn mate, your reviews are tops. Cheers from Brazil and keep the great work!!
I'm only a quarter through but this is the best analysis I've seen of this album and its your first listen lol thank u. I feel like this album gets under appreciated because of the genre and perceived fan base, critics seem to dismiss it. Its truly a great piece of art in form and content and matches a theatrical narrative. An innovative work within the pop punk/emo genre, the post modern references to books, movies weaving in and out of reality. i recommend Refused "The Shape of Punk To Come" it's imo the hardcore genre's version of this, innovative, stylistic and theatrical. It focuses on politics more so than the social issues tho.
and I am subscribing! This was a great reaction! I loved how you explained the meaning and I completely agree!
estaban was the name of the place where they bought their guitars from at the time

That’s good to know! Quite interesting considering the meaning the song took on for me towards the end of the album, where I felt the song could be seen as a critique towards powerful figures deciding what is perceived to be ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, thus limiting freedom of expression for people. P!atD could be especially grateful for music (and the music store since it provides them with the means to make music) as it gives them a medium through which their ideas can manifest themselves and reach an audience that can relate to the message. Thanks for that bit of info!

Wow man. I’ve listened to these songs for years and tbh I’ve never given the meanings much though. I was pretty shallow in terms of I just enjoyed the sound. But I very much enjoyed your interpretations as most of it seems very sound and if some things aren’t completely correct I’m sure they’re close.
Subscribed! Would love to see you do more Panic, their albums get better imo, but that's just my taste (everyone's different), usually half of them are fantastic and the other half are hit or miss depending on people and their love for the band.

Thanks for the support! Much appreciated! I’ll be reacting to their albums in chronological order, so I’m intrigued to hear the evolution of their sound 😊 This album is a bit different from what I generally listen to, but the sound grew on me quite quickly. The cinematic feel of the lyrics was a major influence in how much I enjoyed the album too.
My favorite song off of this album is Build god, then we'll talk
If you do all the albums (which I really hope you do), it will be a wild ride.

Hi! You def have a new subscriber. Loved your video, big Panic! fan spanning all their albums. Interesting tidbit you may not know, a lot of the titles/lines in the songs are from Chuck Palahniuk novels. Ryan, the original guitarist, was a huge fan of Palahniuk and incorporated a lot of references into the music (e.g. Time to Dance is largely based on the book “Invisible Monsters”)
@MFPReacts

Thanks for the support! Glad you enjoyed the video 😀 Thanks for the info as well! I wish I was better acquainted with Chuck Palahniuk novels to perhaps draw some parallels between the themes in the songs and the respective novels 😔 I’m guessing that without Ryan, those types of titles are less common in modern Panic! albums?
@Chlo255

MFP Reacts that’s absolutely right! a lot of panic! fans miss Ryan’s poetic lyrics and creativity. I know I do, I mean I love Brendon Urie but Ryan really brought that theatrical pizazz
Great reaction!! Hey, I know people have probably commented on this already, but your interpretations are great. I think that a little more context might help you understand Camisado a little differently. Camisado is a type of undercover military attack, but anyway one of the lyricists, Ryan Ross, his father was an alcoholic and that song is about the vicious cycle of addiction and where the responsibility of recovery falls.

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated 😊 Yeah, for the most part, I try avoiding any research at all with these reactions so as to give you guys my genuine first impressions and interpretations based on the knowledge I came into the given reaction with, which is why I didn’t look up camisado’s definition while listening to the album. As for the backstory, it definitely alters the was I hear the song. Thanks for the info! And thank you for watching 😊

Alsooooo, I think you’d enjoy the music videos from this album and also their live in Denver show was quite enjoyable if you’re ever bored and want to hear the album again, they hired people from vaudeville cirque to perform so there are dancers and they also did smashing pumpkins and third eye blind covers.

The song I write sins not tragedies ends more or less on the word "again", alluding to the idea that they would one day be together again, meaning he did walk out on the wedding and did not go through with it at that time. However, he doesn't see the love as completely gone.
I LOVE PANIC AT THE DISCO
What he was talking about in the beginning makes me wonder if Brendon had an album from each genre to see what fans responded the best to/what would retain the most fame:)

MFP Reacts ok thanks, just letting u know after the pretty odd album the lyrics tend to get pretty repetitive but the music gets better
Oh look at me, watching the video again. Lol I just wanted to point out that the lead singer has ADHD and if you watch interviews during this album he was prescribed with medication. He would act differently because of the medication. In one interview he talked about how he didn't like being on the medication because he didn't like the person he became. I'm just paraphrasing but he said something along the lines of "it was like watching myself act a certain way and I couldn't do anything about it." Just a smol fact for this era.
