PANHEAD CHOPPER BUILD
Bu So-Low Choppers
Coming to film this custom build I was sure I will be filming Harley Davidson. Just imagine my surprise when I found out none of the parts used were original Harley parts! Furthermore it's FAST. And it kicks back ;)
Full of surprises episode with a founder of So-Low Choppers.

First off Clive has a very nice custom bike and the shop people seem nice, just my kind of shop, in fact I used to take my Sportster to a small shop just like it, they build choppers too as well as other Vtwins. Wow a fellow in England talking about Berdoo style Choppers. I know something of those, Berdoo refers to San Bernardino,California, I live in Fontana a few miles west of San Bernardino, the Shop was called Denvers Choppers, and they made all kinds of cool bikes, The shop was named after Denver Mullins, Sadly he passed away in a Racing Boat accident in 1992. Denvers Choppers is still around, the shop is now in Reno, Nevada. back in the early 1980's in my early 20's I was stationed at Norton AFB in San Bernardino and I used to go by his shop now and then. I had them redo the seat on my 1983 Kawasaki GPz 550. A lot of the bikes they built they used Honda 750 inline four cylinder engines. I used to see his bikes in all the custom motorcycle magazines back then.
Love it. It's pretty close to the bike I've always had in my mind to build. My problem is I'm more of a rider than a builder. Sweet build man. Thanks for the video Tomboy.
That’s what I will do to my sport glide in future, perfect motorcycle
PANHEADS FOREVER
I love that he's taken some stuff that was on offer and some 2nd hand parts then used them to put together a stunning old school chopper. Well done mate 👍

He reminds me of my motorcycle mechanic’s teacher in high school. Thanks for sharing ❤️✌️

I love old bikes, much better than the POS I presently own... 2006 Sportster, last year of the carb'd Sporty!
Great looking new panhead! Old style, but comfortable. Thanks Tomboy..
1975 registration , interesting , its an amazing looking bike , sits and sounds just right . if that had kicked back you would have gone through the roof !!! good on yu for giving it a go .

It did kicked back 😅 Hours spent at the gym payed off lol
Back in the 70's I use to ride a 3 wheeler Harley that belonged to my younger brother that had the bicycle pedal kick start with the 45 cubic inch engine. It threw me up in the air a few times ring to start it. He still owns that 1968 Metermaid and it still runs.
I have to smile off you, you are so cool😉 I liked this episode🙃 Need some training with the kick, i have kickstarted my bikes for 30 years.
Right up my street! Classic does it best. Love the paint job with the blue tipped flames. Thanks!
Thanks for the great show. I am sittings a motorbike license here in New Zealand sometime in the next few weeks. I am going to wait til I have sat my license before I go bike shopping. Can't wait.
Enjoyed your attempts at the kick start, good interview also. Cannot wait till you get back to your build.
Many harley parts are made in Taiwan....few days ago the local H.D. shop here in Athens closed.... that's life...
Thats beautiful. Sns motor especially.
I love a long stroke every now& again. So it's more of a Hardly Davidson.

Cada vez que veo darle a la palanca de arranque de una Harley sin apenas fuerza me tiemblan las carnes por el posible retroceso que tantas piernas ha roto cuando no ha sacado por la ventana al suicida. Preciosa Panhead.
Really good stuff. Well done. What a skillful guy.

Love the paint on the tank……so classic
Awesome bike. I would have loved to see it and hear it before he changed the exhaust . I love the upsweep tall pipes on a chopper. You looked so cute trying to kick it. Great interview.
Loving your work
Beautiful and well thought out chopper! Made to ride with dependability…..perfect. Not sure I’d run the rear tire at twenty-something lbs. can tend to feather the tread and weaken the tire. Speaking from experience (not intentional). My kind of chopper, more ride, less wrench.
I once toured Europe on a SportBike doing hundreds of miles a day with only foam strips for a seat, the shocks were for racing so it was pretty hard, all was good till I stopped for the nite. The shit we do when we're young & daft.
Another interesting build and video. It looks and sounds wicked! Starting it reminds me of kicking the old XT500! 😬👍

What degrees of geometry do they build into the steering neck to make them ( choppers ) steer better ..??

Nice bike. I’m sure it’s been said, but proper technique would allow you to start a pan/shovel. This is actually a evo style replica. All S&S are replicas. A high comp twin is definitely more difficult. Try not to step on the kicker. You can actually put your weight on it and then force it through smoothly with all your weight. Much more efficient. It’s also not about fast. It’s about smooth and fluid movements. These also have auto retard timing, but be careful with the old ones. They can kick back and cause injury. Either cone shovels with retarding that doesn’t work properly, or manual like a magneto or basic points. My mag needs to be set in the proper position to start well, sometimes it’s flirting with kickback. That’s when I know it’s about to start. Haha.
such a long stroke......thats what she said last night 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You should have qualified the note in your video that stated "Thats more then most modern bikes riders do" to Thats more then most british modern bikes riders do. Hell, I do more than that meeting up with friends for lunch. And 1600 miles in 5 years??? That motor isn't even broken in yet.
