heck, even go crazy, a diesel 350 stroker out to 440 or so. some of these builds tho, begin with a free engine coming in the door. funny thing, they could have used a Chevelle and we'd be ok with the LS. but a stroker 455 would be sweet. And if you're going to replace the frame and mintub...come up north and buy one of our rustbuckets that folks are unable to save. Keep this clean body for someone who could do this work easily and just wants a toy, not a complete redesign.

That 1966 4-4-2 they show, my first car was similar - a 1966 Olds F-85 Deluxe 2-door hardtop. It was a 300 2-barrel with 3 in the tree and pretty much zero options. It was my dad's car when I was little and he gave it to me for my 16th birthday. We had a custom-bent dual exhaust put in and I jacked up the rear end with air shocks :-)

1969 Olds 400 motors had some known issues for performance, ( worse year for Olds 400 motors ) However you could get well over 700hp out of a well build 1965 to 67 Olds 400 or a 425 plus even the small block 330s all came with a very strong factory forged crank & rods that were safe to twist well over 7,500 rpm with out issue. True all the 330s, plus 1966 to 68 /400 & all the 425s were limited to 2 blot mains but a set of ARP main studs should be good for again 8,000 rpm with no issues to keep the car pure Oldsmobile powered a huge plus in many peoples eyes. We see way to many of these LS swaps compared to when you see a stompin 10 bold valve cover of a true Olds motor as they get much more praise for being a pure Oldsmobile and not just another one off. The thing to know is the factory Olds 330 , 65 to 68 400 & 425s all came with factory forged cranks and high nickle casting blocks that are so strong I would not be afraid to use twin turbos. The Olds iron blocks up to 67 are much more stout then you might think. The draw back to using a Olds motor has always been to never use any year 350 Rocket or the 69 400R or any year 455R ever as they all had cast iron cranks that limit rpm under 7,000 rpm, and by 68 ( first year 350 rocket) the nickle content was lowered in the casting of the blocks so this goes to show not all rocket motors are created equal. As for the 1966 Tri power Olds 442 W-30 with factory ram air air cleaner, this has to be one of the top dog one year only GM car's ever built in my opinion. Only thing better would be a 66 / 442 Convertible W-30 with factory A/C & Ram Air. ------ P/S, they said the W-30 cam was somewhat more aggressive , Well I am here to tell yeah, with its .295 Der it is quiet a bit more aggressive then a stock cam as when I installed one ( only the W-30 cam & HD valve train ) I cut 2 full seconds off my ET with the same Q jet carb. .
