    My sister just died less than 2 weeks ago. She had just had covid for the 1st time and seemed to recover just fine. 2 and half weeks later she was rushed to hospital in excrutiating pain. They put her on morphine and said she had pancreatitis with a blood clot in her pancreas. She died 3 days later. Her heart and lungs were clear but kidneys were struggling. The day before she died they put her on dialysis and on the last day they decided to open her up to relieve the pressure and there were many other blood clots forming and all her intestines were dead.. they had to let her go.. i have never heard of this hapening. I have never heard of blood clots in the pancreas. Is it possible she could of had cancer?? Trying to make sense of this. She was not a drinker

    @@thesurgicalscholar thank you for your response, I watched the video. So it would seem the blood clot was most likely caused by the pancreatitis not from covid. I still think she had problems for a while and that she didnt know she had. I know she said she was having asthma issues now and then and had an inhaler that she had to take because of too many scented air fresheners. I had her test for covid because her head and sinus pressure was so bad and her eyes hurt when the lights were on. She seemed to clear up and feel better but she was feeling nauseous everyday.. she went to hospital 10 days later when the severe pain set in. I just wish they had opened her up as soon as they saw rhe blood clot . I know it is probably not protocol but by her 4th day it was too late. they opened her because the pressure in her stomach was 4 Xs the normal and more blood clots were developing. All her intestines were dead by then.. she ate well and did not drink. she died so fast . It was extreme and bazaar. The nurse and Doctor said it was because covid caused her blood clot .

Still so much pain in side , back, under arm, chest full of gas all the time. Still nauseated and vomiting. Severe constipation. Gi doctors dismissing me. Filed grievance with Medicare. They will not even give me pain meds. I think colon or pancreatic cancer and they are letting me suffer...so inhumane!

I had a CT scan with contrast in Dec 2020 then an MRI of abdomen and pelvis in Feb of this year. Doctors are making me out like I have health anxiety but this pain isn’t going away getting more pronounced. The MRI and CT scan say I’m fine but idk if I should request an mrcp?? Please answer soon. When they say early diagnosis what does that mean? In time ? How fast does it grow usually?

  • @thesurgicalscholar

    @thesurgicalscholar

    2 жыл бұрын

    Early diagnosis means accessing health care urgently when symptoms first arise. It is also incumbent on healthcare providers to take such symptoms (which can at times be vague) seriously and perform tests (including CT or MRI) urgently, when indicated. On average it may take up to six months to diagnose pancreatic cancer. It should be no longer than 1-3 weeks.

    I am so sorry to hear of your family history. I am unable to provide individual patient advice. Please discuss with your healthcare provider who may take a detailed history of what cancers have afflicted your family members and work out the likely genetic risk to you and hence the most appropriate genetic testing (if appropriate) or any surveillance that you may need. Good luck.

    Hi Barbara. I think you should go for Endoscopic ultrasound (very effective and much better than normal ultrasound) or and MRI. They are both equally effective as CT, but without radiation risks. CT will put you at risk of various cancers in the years to come. God bless you.

  • @AltruisticWarrior

    As someone else already mentioned, CT or PET scans increase the risk of various cancers. The risk technically goes down the older a person is as cancers can take many years to develop from them but it's still a bad idea. The typical CT scan is roughly the equivalent of up to 800 xrays! Now an MRI or ultrasound as the other mentioned, totally safe to do annually. There are things you can do to minimize your cancer risks though, quality carbs, low to no sugar and occasional fasting. I helped a family member of mine through cancer and heart failure. The cancer so far is in remission but remarkably we just discovered their heart function went from 12% to 48% during chemotherapy of all times. I had the person cut out most sugar and fasting 2 days before chemo with a 6 hour feeding window per day. The American diet is full of too many omega 6 and sugar. Both are well known to fuel many cancers as newer research is showing. They also raise triglycerides which ultimately cause plaque buildup... not the cholesterol itself.

    For over two weeks I’ve had nausea with vomiting once, on and off upper stomach pain, pressure in upper stomach which was made worse after eating, pain on my left side between the hip and ribs which would radiate to my left flank area,vague pain on left side of stomach that is sore when pressed, malaise and extreme fatigue. I had a CT scan of the abdomen with contrast, ultrasound of the gallbladder, and it was found that I have mild fatty liver. I have occult blood in the stool and lipase is slightly elevated but doctor says it’s not high enough for pancreatitis. All other labs as of ten days ago were normal. I go for a colonoscopy/endoscopy tomorrow. My question is, if the colonoscopy/ endoscopy results don’t show anything, should I ask for a endoscopy ultrasound? I think I’m already pushing it because my doctor doesn’t think I should be getting an endoscopy. Trying to convince him will be hard. My mother and grandmother died of stomach cancer.
