Hey. Great video. Pancake and Sugar Tree are adorable. Thanks for adopting Pancake. Why would anyone abandon such a cute cat especially in Arizona in the summertime? A head scratcher for sure. The owner or owners should be charged with animal cruelty. I don't think Sheriff Arpaio would be too happy to hear about this. Happy New Year.

Dogs and cats yawn to show they are at ease. It shows they're not alert. Cats also blink slowly to show trust, and dogs look away from you for the same reason. Both of these things basically say "I don't have to stare at you cause I trust you completely, I can look over there cause I know you have my back". Which is also why starting directly at dogs and cats for no reason stresses them out - it's perceived as aggressive, since you'd only stare so hard if you wanted to attack. Which is also why when they're playing they always make sure to pause for a few moments and just lick each other or look away - keeps things friendly. That's exactly why the bigger animal of the two always appears so stoic- they fight back a little bit, then they look away. It shows that they're not taking this seriously so the small one shouldn't be scared - and that's why kittens and puppies are so brave and take them on playfully.

Tj Faino You're welcome :D So, if you wanna be friends with a dog, approach them indirectly (don't go straight for them), don't look them in the eye and you can also tilt your head to one side derpily, like dogs do. It shows friendliness.You can also yawn. Cats are not pack animals so they have less tricks, but yawning works with them too, and also you can blink slowly at them. If you do it and they repeat it, you have their trust. I try that even with stray cats and it works surprisingly well. I just stay at a distance, the cat gets up ready to run away, I blink at it a couple of times slowly and it just blicks back at me and sits where it is.

Kurt Halim Hence its not very respectful of the gesture if you pet a cats exposed belly. Some may not freak out, some minority may like it but most won't. Its like a human putting their hand on your throat. Even if they do not use any pressure you will likely feel uneasy and like them to move it.

Kurt Halim I have raised cats all my life and have never had one who displayed this behavior, even in the presence of many other species. My experience has been that the only wild response that still seems active in the presence of a perceived threat is hissing, even in kittens. In an adult cat, wild or domestic, such a show of submission would mean certain injury or even death, since this technique is meant only for very young kittens whose fathers often try to eat them, so it is built into male parents to be mollified by such submissive behavior.

The bond of love between these two is truly evident! Love it!

My husky plays the same way with the cats. What's more, if you were to accidentally get bit by the dog, you would find out that their bites are SUPER gentle, with practically no pressure to it. Dogs like these just *know* how to play gently with cats and you can tell by how the cat keeps exposing their belly that he knows it's totally safe, too.

Aww how cute and sweet! Obviously these are very happy pets! They remind me of my dog and cat, they adored each other. They slept together, cuddled each other, played together, ate together, sometimes we'd even give them their baths at the same time because it kept them calm and distracted.
