    Do you have a repair to do on it? The kits are readily available and as long as you are careful with the placement of the IC and use flux, they seem to go on OK. Yes it was my first SMD IC. A bit nerve racking, but you have to start somewhere. It also helps to have a 300X digital microscope to check your work after the soldering is done. Hope your repairs go well! Take it nice and slow and look at what others have done before you start.

    I had exactly the same sympoms (two red flashes) but it was not the power supply board it was the Y-SUS board pulling the Vsus output of the power supply down to 0v. When I disconnected the power connector from the Y-SUS board the voltage from the power supply showed the correct reading of 201v.

    Great video, wished you showed removal of front panel. Also had a question about where did you source your diagram? Where did you source the IC chip, and how much did it cost? I'm able to procure a broken Plasma TV, same 10 blink error here, for $20, but, I need a little help in sourcing the electrical layout and chip (if it suffers from the same fate). Thank you!

    Hey Jax Fishings, The number of the flash code is important so you will need to count the LED flashes. I have included a link that might help you to see what the codes refer to. electro-medical.blogspot.com/2015/11/panasonic-tc-p42x1-led-blinking-error.html While this might not directly refer to your particular model, the blink codes are used across the Panasonic range. I hope that helps :) Cheers MiracleMAX

    Hi MiracleMAX, thank you and great video. I am getting 10-blinks, but when I froze out the 15v standby IC the TV powered on :) I’m okay with electronics but I lack the confidence to carry out this repair myself... especially with the large voltages present in those capacitors. Is there somewhere I could take the power board to have the IC’s changed by a professional in Sydney’s inner west region? Thank you and again great vid! Josh

    Hey Psybient MiDi, This could be a possible fault within the A board. Voltages that need to be checked are 5 V, 3.3 V and 9 Volts. Only check these if you are confident with electrical work. As noted in the video, there are extremely high voltages that operate these TVs. I hope this helps! Cheers MiracleMAX

    Wow I like Max's teaching style and video. So what exactly is happening with the IC and why does freezing it allow for it to work momentarily? I have just acquired a panasonic plasma TH-42PZ85U. I PLUG IT IN, HIT THE POWER AND I HEAR A RELAY CLICK THEN IT ACTS LIKE ITS ABOUT TO POWER ON, FANS SPIN MOMENTARILY, BUT THEN NOTHING. I SEE 2 RED BLINKS. IF I CONTINUE TO ATTEMPT TO POWER IT ON AT THAT POINT, THE RED BLINKS CHANGE FROM 2 TO 10 BLINKS. And if I can really fix it at a low cost, I will be very encouraged and will feel awesome. Can someone help me and answer my comment/questions that I have left here?

    Hey STIZEN9, With these TV's there are many variations within the power boards, main boards and other boards that can create these issues. It's important to see if you can find a service manual for that specific TV to correctly diagnose the problem. Use Google to search for what you need. Here is an example of what I found in a few seconds of searching. www.justanswer.com/tv-repair/5r3dc-panasonic-th-42pz85u-blinks-10-times-wont.html I'm not suggesting that this is the answer to your fault, but it is an area to examine. Here is a link to a manual that you can download and that has the blink codes and a flow chart for the answers. www.manualslib.com/download/1068818/Panasonic-Th-42pz80u.html I hope these comments are helpful. Remember, you are working around very high and dangerous voltages. Please be careful. Good luck with your diagnosing!

    HEY MAX THANKS for you time and reply. I just did the freeze test that norcal715 suggests. I froze the mc301 or was it mc201? i.c. and the t.v. started up. I just want to know if its safe and ok to continue to use the t.v., starting it each time with freeze, while I wait for my caps to come in from china?

  • @MiracleMAX

    @MiracleMAX

    As you saw in my video when I did the freeze test, it will bring the TV to life until the IC heats up again. My suggestion is that you do not try and use it while it is in this state. It is only used to diagnose the fault, not as a bypass. If you continue to use it, you may end up totally damaging the IC or creating a different fault in another area. I'm afraid, patience is my suggestion. Good luck when you get the parts & I hope your repair is successful.

    Hey mowwow1998, Sorry, can't remember exactly where I got it from, but if you look up 'A30C5 TEA1611T KIT', it should head you in the right direction. Here is an example on Ebay - www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-Plasma-repair-Kit-TEA1611T-ETX2MM702MG-ETX2MM704MG-ETX2MM706MG-A30C5-/131793957282 It's best to try and get a kit that has the larger replacement capacitor in it, like the example I have given, rather than the SMD original. That little sucker is really hard to get to! Hope that helps. Cheers MiracleMAX

    Hey Edwin, they fail as well as the capacitors. You notice that when I froze the IC the TV worked. You can buy a kit that supplies both of these items. They are a common fault that's why they supply both items in the repair kit. Replacement of the IC does require a reasonable amount of skill, though.

    I am a student and have a basic question for those qualified to answer, regarding basic multimeter usage. At 4:03, Mr. Max speaks about probing connector P7 @ terminal 1 to confirm the 15 volts.. Does the red probe touch terminal 1 on connector P7 and the black probe to any metal grounded part on the chassis? Where can the black probe go if my probe leads are very short? THANKYOU.

  • @MiracleMAX

    @MiracleMAX

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hey STIZEN9, Before giving you advice, be VERY AWARE of the high voltages this TV puts out. At the main filter capacitor, you can expect up to 360 volts. Be very careful with your testing methods & if you do not have the skills or training, do not attempt these testing methods without an isolation transformer. As I have stated in the video, testing the VSUS voltage at connector P2, terminal 1, should provide 190 volts. Testing the P7 connector, terminal 1, should provide 15 volts. Using your multimeter on DC volts, connect the red lead to the terminals mentioned above and the black lead is connected to a good chassis ground. In the video above at 3.00, I have connected my black lead to the board to chassis screw. If your leads are too short, just extend them with another jumper cable (wire with alligator clips at either end) Remember, if you use this advice, you are doing it at your own risk. Good luck!
