PANASONIC LUMIX FZ-300 REVIEW FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON

Ойын-сауық

This video is a long time coming but I didn't want to make it until I had an ample amount of time to use it. I got it right before our trip to Italy in August and have been using it ever since for photo's and making my KZread videos. Here is who I think this camera is for.

    I just bought this camera new (open box) about 5 years after you made this video. I have to say, you're spot on. I'm a videographer by trade and I work with much higher-end equipment for sure, but this camera is pretty advanced for the money. I used it in the wild for the first time last night at my daughter's junior high volleyball game and I'm not disappointed. The 4K burst modes are amazing. I can't wait to become more comfortable with all the features. It's gonna be fine for my vlog entries also. Good piece of equipment for the money.

    I own one and love it especially for hiking. Fantastic zoom and very light. Will fit in most back pack easily. In the present of bright day light quality of zoom will be very close to big dslr camera. When the sun is down just leave it at home this camera and it’s small sensor is not made for it. Very good for you tuber indoor just set up your room light properly. Has mic in is great with flip screen. For around $400 bucks there are no camera out there come close. Strongly recommended.

    I have to disagree with your comments on picture quality vs. a DSLR. I carry the FZ300 with me every day. It's my all around, anytime camera for pics and videos on the spot. I also have a Nikon D3300 that you can buy with the kit lens for less than $500. I have 5 lenses for it to cover everything from 18mm to 450mm. The lenses run the total price way up. That said, the pictures from the Nikon are FAR superior to what I can get with the FZ300. The sensor is 13 times larger with twice the number of larger pixels. If you shoot raw, you get so much more to work with. As far as usability, the FZ300 has zero setup time, takes better video, has a LOT more features and filters. If I only had one, I'd get the FZ300 because it's all around less expensive and easier to use along with features you'll only get if you spend a lot more money for on a DSLR. If you want to make large prints or portraits, it's probably not the camera for you, but for internet pics and videos, I love my FZ300.

    Kenny Go hey Kenny, I agree, the pictures from a DSLR have better image quality for sure. I even said that in my review so not sure what you disagree with lol. As far as blowing pics up, my mom is my biggest fan and has blown multiple pics of mine up for her wall decor at her place and the image still looks great and her friends think she bought the pics from a store. Pretty sweet for mid ranged camera haha. Thanks for the input though bud. Gives even more info to potential buyers reading the comments for personal experiences.

    yea my review when i bought this a few years ago was the same...its a good social media camera. if people are looking for stunning pro-level photos, then a pro camera is what they need ;-) but in a crunch, where venues have anti-american camera rules, if you can get this one in--at least you can get the shot and have "decent" photos captured. that's actually why i bought this one...one of the camera nazi events had "no slr cameras" as a rule.

    I also got one FZ300... i'm using for a short time (very few weeks) and covering family events. It's EXACTLY like you say in this review... and also i'm not a photographer cause i like more video stuff. I'n fact FZ300 is more a great camcorder that a great camera... maybe more like a camcorder stuffed in a dSLR body who can shoot too. I'm starting to know her limitations but i really love my FZ300 i must say. It's a great all-around camera. Great review and will soon listen to this video again. Well done!

    Nice review man... I bought one myself, and there are a few Teleconverter screw on lenses etc they do work ok but the not cheap ($15) but the little bit mid price range lenses are great... brings in a little bit more light. my next few purchases I want to get soon is a lighting setup that also comes with the backdrop kit... less then $100 AUD, but even just getting the cheap camera lights and some old external hdd power supplies work really great. Oh and it sucks when you search for a good starter camera... seems to be a real stigma with the word "Budget".

I have Canon 60 and 70D and a 5Dmkii.... don't pixel peep images from the FZ300 !!!

    ALL the pics and video from this review are from the FZ300. I specifically say pics from a DSLR will have better overall quality but for the AVERAGE person who doesn't want to spend the money for one plus extra lenses, this is more than capable of taking good pics and the 4k video is something a lot of DSLR cameras don't even have (at the time of recording). I can't say why you're having poor image quality at iso 100 but I was able to capture some really amazing night photography and detailed zoom pics of the moon with said settings, that I blew up for my wall with no issue.

Adobe will give you way more editing options and I'll prob go down that road eventually but for now, that's what I use and love it. Obviously if you have a Mac, use final cut, I'm a pc guy though

    Nice review. I've narrowed my search for cameras down to this one. I'm excited! Now, Im just looking at what I want to get with it, package wise or purchase separate. At 3:57 you show a package deal. Is that the one you bought? If so, hows the large tripod and the mic? Was it worth it in your opinion or do wish you would have bought some of the items separate. I go back and forth.

  • @RossLife83

    @RossLife83

    7 жыл бұрын

    Broken Tree Adventures first off, great channel name! Second, for me, the film package was absolutely worth it! The only things I don't use out of it are the macro and colour filter lenses. If I was to buy the tripod, SD cards, mic, bag and others separately, I would have paid way more. The mic is great for me. There's better options out there like rode which are the standard among KZreadrs but for what I'm doing, the quality is great. The tripod is great too. Sturdy, very extendable and does its job just fine. Camera be a little tricky to get onto it in the dark if you are out at night but that's a small gripe. If you think you will definitely take advantage of the package it's the way to go. If you just want the camera for pictures and odd videos, buy the camera and get a tripod separate. Hope this helps! Cheers

Plus, it feels perfect in my hand unlike most. The cheapest I've seen it on Amazon.ca is the high $600s, where did you see it in the $500s? Or did you mistake the FZ200 for it?

    thekiwicanuck electronics on Amazon can change daily sometimes, at the time of recording last year, those were the prices I was seeing. Amazon.ca can also be super expensive for products too I find. Consider looking at what Amazon.com is selling it for, even with the conversion and international shipping, it might be the better deal. Otherwise, just keep checking the Canadian site regularly for price drops. The price changed on my camera package about 30 times in the few months it was in my cart as I researched to make sure it was the camera for me. Cheers

    Zedroth Entertainment yeah but this type is just too big and cumbersome for me and super zoom is not required and 4K is still a bit overrated. I like this or the FZ1000 but I always keep coming back to the G7X II. I also like the Sony 5100 etc but compact is better for me I think........cheers

    Hi, finally a very good review! Just two things in my mind: First: How can you keep an 2.8 aperture from wide to max tele? Is it an electronic trick? Second: Do I have to buy and super fast card to use this camera,at least faster than my old class 10? Thanks and keep working like that!

  • @nictheartist

    @nictheartist

    Jose plaza reyes I haven't got this one ( yet), but all the reviews I've seen suggest that the aperture can stay at f/2.8 all the way through. I believe you can always extend the zoom digitally, but the stated focal length appears to refer to the actual optical zoom, which is the only one that is the maximum image quality.

  • @Livingandcooking

    Once you dial it to 2.8, it will stay there throughout the entire zoom range

    Thankyou for this video. We have been looking for a decent camera to improve our KZread videos and have been undecided as to whether to go for a camcorder, compact, bridge or DSLR. Your review has helped us to decide and we will now be buying either a 300 or 330. Greetings from Nottingham, UK. We have now subscribed to you. Please feel free to check our videos out.

    With DSLR the factor is the lenses, with the really high end ones costing a lot. They add up. I agree, the problem with my DSLR(s) [I have a couple) are carrying all the lenses with me and I can't afford some of the higher-end ones anyway. Something like this would really help -- I do most of my post in Lightroom and Premiere/After Effect anyway so I just need high-enough quality, high-res RAW footage and images without breaking the bank or my back.

    Hey, I live in Canada and I would like to buy a camera from amazon.com. I have the money to get it even with the conversion, but does the warranty still works if you're buying it from another country? That's what I'm really worried about. If the camera breaks because a manufacture error, will they replace it even though I'm in Canada?

    Ro Mo I remember having the same question when I was looking on Amazon.com myself. I was told that panasonic is panasonic and if you need to send it in while under Warrent it doesn't matter where its from. That could be wrong though and I didn't buy extended Warrent either so my 1 year manufacturer Warranty is done now so I'm screwed if something happens lol. You might want to check more into it yourself and see what people say, or send panasonic a message on twitter, some company's are have good social media staff and will answer your questions if it means you will buy their product.

    Hey, I did my researches on cameras and warranties (I started well before commenting here ;) ) Here's what I found: The Lumix G7 was the one I really wanted with the 300 USD sale right now but with the conversion and extended warranty, it was still over my budget right now which led me to the Lumix FZ300. Amazon: the .ca only accept the ones bought in the .ca store and the .com only return on US territories (which would have been ok with your mailbox, but not for me) Panasonic: the CA only accept cameras bought in Canada and the US only offer a warranty to 48 states. All this led me to buy the Panasonic Lumix FZ300 on the amazon.ca but a big thank you for your review and your help here. I can send you my review if it interests you when it's done, just let me know :D

    ilikestarsun it's just a mini tripod that came with my filmmakers package when I bought the camera package on Amazon. Just type mini tripod into Amazon and a bunch will come up. Get a mid range one that has a nice grip and sturdy legs since it need to hold up the heavy camera when perched on a table, desk or anywhere you set it up. 50 to 60 bucks is what I would recommend price wise for a good quality mini tripod.

    ROBERTO TO TO TO TO TO I can't give you an exact number bud. When I was filming everyday in Italy all day pretty much, I would walk around with 1 extra battery and found myself putting it in around mid to late afternoon. I was walking around with the camera on but not recording sometimes though, ready for a possible quick good shot. Sometimes I would turn it off between destinations too. I will say it depends on your battery too, the lumix battery that came with the camera lasted longer than the 3rd party backup battery I got for it. Hope that gives you some idea :)
