    Vertical gunting/destruction is the most difficult to perform and takes the most practice to be even 50% successful in a real encounter.... The outside tricep gunt or the gunt from under targeting the funny bone is a bit easier in my opinion.

    It is the elbow destruction that really comes into its own in the real thing, I have found from experience....

    I’ve found it to be super easy. I’m a boxing coach that actively spars with our amateur competition team. I also train Muay Thai and can pull them off in sparring (easier against Nak Muay). The key is to bring your elbow to centerline and keep your other hand up in a long guard position. IMO Gunting is ineffective due to it lacking enough power to do any damage to a strong fit fighter(take the same gunting movement and add a knife and it changes that outcome).

    Never found the range to be right for this. The punch needs to be a foot away from your head for it to work. People don't punch the air in front of your face. I like some of the other guntings.

    Only way to make it work is to slip and shuffle in that way you can work from the inside out

    Every guy that teaches self defense , has to have the “maori” like sleeve tattoo .. i mean every one of them . It’s like a starter pack requirement of some sort.

    How can I anticipate that punch in order to make an elbow destruction if he jabs? I've tried this against the jab for years and have never been successful - even when I know the punch is coming! Jabs are just too fast for me. Even slipping my head is barely doable, sometimes, so how am I supposed to also raise my elbow up and aim it correctly for his fist in time? Before I start raising my elbow, the jab is already landed or I am barely catching stuff as the jab is already retracting. Like I already said, I barely slip the jab in time, if it's a really good, un-telegraphed straight job.

    What training do u do? Boxing has parry and shield drills. This is like a parry and shield together. Maybe practice parry and shield blocking. Like everything start slow, increasing speed. If you cant do slow, you wont do fast. Parry 1 and 2s (jab, cross) shield block 3 and 4 (hooks) i really like to block straight punches with my elbow, i dont parry into the elbow like in this vid. I use i high boxing guard and lift my elbow and they punch right into my elbow.. it hurts lol. Careful u dont want to break someones hand. Hope this helps
