Pan Fried Mackerel: Easiest of Fish Recipes
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Easy Instructions for a quick fish dinner made of mackerel or Saba fish.
Ingredients:
salt
pepper
mackerel fillet
cooking oil
lemon wedge
Cookingconspiracy instructions:
1 Allow the fish to sit out for 15 minutes to warm up a bit before cooking.
2 Season lightly with salt and pepper
3 preheat stainless steel or nonstick pan over medium high heat
4 add cooking oil (peanut)
5 Fry mackerel fillet skin side up 1-2 minutes
6 flip
7 fry skin side down 1-2 minutes optional add butter on top
8 remove from pan
9 squeeze lemon over fish
The fish should flake with a fork when done. Also if pan is preheated properly the fish will not stick. Mackerel does have a strong fish favor. It will become tough if overcooked.

Good thing I'm a cook then! Skin can definitely take more heat but depending on what I'm doing I'll do presentation side first

In chef training I was taught skin side first at high heat to crisp the skin then take the pan off the heat THEN finish the flesh side in the pans residual heat. You might have the skill and confidence to pull off the method you've shown us here but I reckon you're leading most home cooks into over-cooking territory.

@@cookingconspiracyI hate when people called me a chef or asked if I was a chef. My response is always "hell no, I'm a cook". Most chefs I met or worked under weren't good cooks, and the crew shared the same views. A chef is a glorified kitchen manager to me. That mackerel looks delicious btw. Ive only had it with the whole fight cooked intact at a awesome Vietnamese restaurant I love. I even ate the eyes to try it out, not a big fan 😂 and I don't like my dinner staring at me 😅
0:39 "you should wear a shirt while cooking" Yes, we women need to wear shirts while we cook, this is good advice, thank you. My husband never has the sense to remind me.
