I always judge a board game by its cover and that cover art is gorgeous. love art that uses negative space.

Ian is one of the best!
I love your videos. Definitely helps me, a solo player, know what I want and don't want. I do have to giggle when your videos start. I always wonder if I have it on 1.5 or 2x speed because you are such quick speakers during your introduction.

haha it's because we have often mess up the intro and have to rerecord it soooo many times. LOL. Thank you btw!

@@BeforeYouPlay I figured it was because it was something that is so practiced that it comes out quickly whereas the gameplay and instructions aren't as rehearsed so they are slower. It is all good. BTW, I found you from Game Night. Enjoy watching you there too.
This game looks amazing! Definitely adding to my queue
Intriguing. This one looks very deep. Thank you for sharing! :)
I love your channel and I'm stoked for this game. Happy to be a first-day backer.

Thank you Ian!!! Of course, beautiful work on the visual design as always!
This theme would make a great co-op.
Yay! Was looking forward to this play through since the KS is going live today! 🎉❤😁

59:58 "I think that was everything." Naveen forgot to remove a C bonus from the pool. Not sure it would have made 3 points of difference.

Definitely love the game! Entertaining playthrough. It was very close (I though NV was gonna win the whole time). Is it realistically possible to get to the right most transformer in the PG track?
@BeforeYouPlay
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, it is possible but just requires proper planning
It was a really fun game except for the last 1-3 turns, I wonder, how often do you have the situations where you just "pass" or top deck?

I think it's truly going to be dependent on which end-game scoring tiles are in play and which scoring specialists are showing at the time. It would be a decent move to pick up a really valuable scoring specialist card for cheap (which would have required proper planning when placing action cards to your player board). Just dependent on the game.
thanks
artwork is beautiful, expected from Ian. Reminds me so much of a Lacerda game lol. I understand him and Julian are friends.

It's designed by Ian O'Toole hence it has that Lacerda's game look.

Hi, Monique and Naveen! Are you two planning on attending PAX Unplugged by any chance? (And at first glance, this absolutely looks like my kind of game! 😍 Thanks for the detailed teach and playthrough!)

If we have to compare Games of similar themes, what would be the best comparison w.r.t Pampero. Just for my understanding. Considering I am getting into playing heavy games, especially euro for the first time, want to make the right decision whether I back this or not.

Hi! It's actually quite unique in mechanics but thematically I'd say maybe something like CO2: Second Chance. If you've played any of the Lacerda games, some of the cyclical strategy can feel similar.
So did Naveen score his end game card for the A contracts? Seemed like that was skipped over when you got to that scoring part and he only talked about the one for loans which he did not score. Also what did the bulldozer scoring achieve?
@BeforeYouPlay
Жыл бұрын
Hi Dmitri, we looked at the final scoring section to figure out what you were asking. I (Naveen) used his card to represent a 6th contract beating Monique’s 5 “A” contracts. Time stamp 01:22:37 is where I used that card. In regards to the bulldozer area, those are just one time bonuses you can claim but it locks those bulldozers out for the rest of the game.
@dkoudrin
Жыл бұрын
@@BeforeYouPlay Ah right I see. Didn't realize the bull dozers were one time bonuses as I thought they were to do with end-game scoring.
Just curious, do you find the game fun? Meaning do you want to play it again? Or perhaps asked differently, how would you rank it when compared to On Mars, Lisboa, The Gallerist, Kanban EV?
@BeforeYouPlay

We refrain from publicly expressing our opinions on sponsored videos but I'd say it's similar in the way you think/strategize when playing Lacerda games. It has a sort of cycle to it

They're called "Iron Clays," and they're from Roxley Games. I think they were for Brass

The iron clays have of nice feel/weight to them, but the colors are so non-standard. Get some Bankers Chips from apache. They are great for Euros. I have a set of 500 (I'm also a heavy 18xx player)

@@pilotboba I’ll look into them! Thanks!!!
I think I am starting to feel my age... These types of euro´s with their multitude of spreadsheet icons just gives me a headache these days. It´s not just learning those but then having to relearn all of it after a longer hiatus. Really gravitate more towards games like Imperial that create a lot of depth and require lots of strategy and calculation even, but you do not spend that brainpower on re/evaluating dense rulesets, icons, or hefty rule books. Still, that´s were you guys come in, I guess. ;-)
This theme and art/production is awesome to me but darn it the game looks too complex! What would you rate the complexity? Is this more complex than Ark Nova and truly more Lacerda-complex? I heard there is a short version of the game that takes an hour at 2 player - another thing that really temps me. Wish this was more Scythe-complexity.
@BeforeYouPlay
Жыл бұрын
It has a fair amount of rules overhead, but once you get into it, it's not extremely complex. It is difficult to formulate a winning strategy, but actions boil down to only a few main choices.It is probably more complex than Ark Nova but not as complex as some of the Lacerda titles.
Thanks for the play thru guys. Lovely as always. Yes, the art is super nice (bow to Ian), but the game feels overly complicated for no good reason. It’s like trying to be a Lacerda, but without the magic. I truly hate the mechanism where you missed a round just to… pick up some cards? Big no. The action selection is kind of interesting but again - overly complicated for no good reason. And most of actions - if you don’t invest heavily in some path it’s not lucrative enough. Basically through the whole game you’ve scored almost the same amount. The zones look unnecessary - more restrictive than fun. It’s hard pass for me. But thank you for yet another great work you did. ❤

Wow! I was thinking the exact same thing. There's just nothing really the clicks in this game like an OnMars, KanBan or the Gallerist would do for me. The whole spend energy just feels weird are you not energy producers? I'll probably end up playing it to be sure since I do like heavier games.
Not even the #1 "teach & playthrough" team - Before You Play - can save this game from being anything but a mess of many other contemporary games. We have a problem today: so many new games are released and people jump on them. This is a sickness in many of us. It's time to take a step back and look at the gems that's out there. Do we have to jump from game to game every other day?! No! Besides all boardgames you can always come back to the #1 game, the King of all games, at any time - GO. That is if you want some peace of mind for a while and learn something that lasts a lifetime.

just so for my understanding, what games would you personally prefer or compare to have a better gameplay with a similar or different theme. Heavy euro, highly thematic, streamlined game play.
