There weren't that many women playing in bands in the Zamrock scene - Violet Kafula from the Crossbones comes to mind, as does Linda Ngozi - but those who were present were responsible for some of the better songs of the era. Take this single, for example. As far as I can tell, Pamaris Mwape only ever released this one record, but damn is it good. And it's not just the guitars on the A-side that make this recording stand out among many, but rather Mwape's impassioned, heartfelt vocals that carry it to the top of any short-list of Zambezi singles worth many repeated listens.
