I was flipping through KZread and saw this. I rode at Hillcrest in Va beach from 1963 until 1965, then came back and rode from 1968-1970. I have very happy memories of the place. I rode Saltwater, Checkmate, By Belong, Acacia and others. Roxanne mainly was my instructor. I remember Jimmy Cantwell giving me 1st place out of 24 in a hunter hack class riding Happy Hooligan, one of the happiest days of my youth. Pam, it's so great what you've achieved in the horse world. Congrats! Suzanne Dorsey

How poetic. You are an inspiration to all of us who appreciate "the horse". You have certainly put your time in and are well deserving. Congratulations!

Well Deserved, Pam! Thank you for starting me on a correct path of horsemanship. I worked for you in the early 70's at Hillcrest Farms. I've seen worked many riding programs since that time, but yours was the best and the method I always attempted to dupilcate. I still have my copy of "Commonsense Horsemanship"! God bless you Pam for and on those thoughts... The horse needs us to be compassionate and caring partners, not an appendage to get to a show. They are such loving, trusting, and caring animals... but sadly we as humans often are not. A horse will teach us fairness and display the fruit of contribution, and treat us fairly in spite of how we treat them most times... A lesson well ridden in the field is worth far more than a win at a show that cost the horse his safety, dignity, and well-being.
