I've seen this done before slightly different. We did a horizontal 2x4 (think top plate) on top of each row of pallets, double on very top. We went 3 pallets high, we built trusses on ground and lifted straight up into place using a hand cranked manlift (rented). Makes a fine building extra durable once metal is on. Your building is going to serve you well You should be proud of the build.

When sheeting a roof you might want to think about staggering the seams. It makes a much stronger roof and prevents sagging. Actually that applies to hanging any sheeting, not just a roof.

You should have put several sheets of ply score on the tractor and made less trips on the ladder. The More the Better. Just think what those sheets and 2x6x16 would cost you today with the way lumber prices are. Great Job. Can't wait to see the whole thing.

Tere, they are also good for burning but also very good for building stuff. I use pallets for a lot of purposes and I have built many things out of them. The trick is that you need good pallets ;)

Hey, Impregnated beams are on concrete, and the beams are anchored to the concrete with concrete anchor , and the pallets are screwed to the beams on the concrete. I hope this helped.

I thought the music was better than most that are crap and so loud I rather hear the power tools . Explaining what the 2x4s were for in the walls would be nice ( I know and would have double them on each pallet ) . As for the roof , never run the seams like you done . There is no strength that way . Good build .

Put the plywood down with a whole sheet then take and put another whole sheet 4 ft past the other one. It ties all of the rafters together. Still a great job

Hey, this is a special torch, with it you melt/heat the tar on the roll, so that it attaches/glues to the roof.

Hey, screws. I fastened with screws diagonally from the corners and in the middle where the blocks are. I also installed beams vertically between the pallets, which also connect the pallets together. Thanks for watching and watching my other videos too ;)

Put up a few sheets on the roof, you would not have to go up and down so much on the ladder. Nice Job, lots of hard work.

The first layer should be a vapor barrier on the roof second layer stops the rain. If ur using touch down roofing u should nail base sheet first it's fire resistant and it's a vapor barrier then touch down over the base sheet.

@@normalguydoesitall stagger your sheets of osb so all of you butt joints don’t fall on the same rafter. Like you bottom row full sheets, the next row up start with a half sheet then run full sheets til you get to the end which, for you, would’ve been another half sheet. And anytime you’re laying a cut sheet, make sure it always spans three rafters. If you just do like a 2ft piece which would only get nailed on the edges it will sag over time

And, now, a question...is that a rubberized roofing material? Or heavy tar? Never seen an application that used a torch. Interesting...

Ok, this material is called something like that: weldable tar board, bitumen ruberoid. And it is mounted with a torch, Part of the tar is melted and it glues the material to the roof. It is very common on flat roofs in Estonia. Hope that was helpful. ;)

In America this Roofing its called Torchdown. Its used on, or for a flat roof. Angled roof as this, use regular shingles, as they last longer, and break up the draining as the water hits it. The wind can blow off this roofing they are putting down, unless you nail it down. But on flat roofs, and with walls going up above it, the wind can not blow it off. This system they are using is much cheaper, than hot mop, and put the tar paper down, nailing it down, and hot mop tar over it. But on angled roofs you should use tar paper laid down, staple it down, then put shingles over that, and nail it down too. As it lasts much longer, and nailing them down they hold better, and looks nicer. There's lots of videos on here to show you how. As that roll out roofing is a cheaper, and faster way to do it, but its not as good, and does not last as long. Plus, it does not look nice like shingles. Also, the way they laid the plywood on the roof is not correct, as each course, you off set the ply by 4 foot, as it keeps the rafters or trusses from falling over, as there system is not correct for USA building. I would also use 2x4 up rights at each end of the pallets, as every 4 foot, cut flush with the pallets height, and in every corner, and top plate it all tying it all together. Maybe even double Top plate, and or with framing square type looking straps tying each corner together, and nailed or screwed to the top plate, as then the corners are secure. Doing a tie type system when you put on the plywood over the pallets. As tying the corners together, as lapping the corners. Where the pallets sit on top of each other - drill, and bolt the pallets together, with washers too. Plus plumbing the walls, and string lining the walls for strait, and bracing prior to putting up the rafters, and roof ply. Then once the ply is all nailed off, you can take your braces off. I would have gussets on each other to strengthen the rafters as make ply wood pieces, and nail on like a truss is built, and or build your own trusses on the ground, as they are much more stronger. There should be what they call Rat run of maybe two runs on the bottom cord of the rafters, or truss , a 2x4, as on top of it running the length of the building, as to tie it all together more. As if the garage is say 24' then go in from the out side walls in 8' foot, and it sets this at or around 8' spacing holding the bottom cord of your trusses, and Mark, and nail at 2' . Then one up by the peak of the roof right under the rafters, and nailed to the uprights at their layout of or around 2 foot., and running the length of the building, as to hold all them together. Then if at a 2' layout, your ply lands center of your rafters. Then take your braces down, once the ply on the roof is nailed down.

Hey, two years in use and everything is fine, the walls are strong and the roof does not leak. that winter there were sheep inside, who were now moving to pasture. the pallets are very good to build and it is also suitable for rabbits. Thank you!

I saw you used metal joining plates at the top of the walls and where the rafters meet...but not on top where the rafters meet from each side ...why ??

Why didn't you stagger the decking. It's a rule of thumb you do it on sub floors and roofs. Other than that you're doing a good job to be doing mostly by yourself.

LOL. We live in Estonia and breed Estonian native horses that are actually used to living outdoors all year round, even in winter and in the cold. This barn has the idea that if something should happen then there is an indoor space where to put the horses, for example for therapeutic purposes. So thanks for worrying but no reason for that. Na dach już lepsza będzie najtańsza blacha trapezowa lub lepiej falista , bo i wygląda i nie boi się mrozu,wiatru i co najważniejsze jest przykręcona do dachu a nie klejona jak papa termozgrzewalna,którą niska temperatura i wiatr odkleja od dachu - ewentualnie sprawdzi się tam gdzie nie ma zimy .
