Everything set aside, how can someone's footwork be so accurate!!! 🥺🥺🥺 Not only is she hitting the beats on the same time, but with the same intensity as it is being played on the percussion!!!!

In Odissi or any other Indian classical Dance tala is very important. The music has a particular rhythm, tempo, and a lot more that once you can catch, being on beat becomes a piece of cake. Ofcourse it takes time and practice. To understand tala. Some beings are born with such gifts.

Superb! Once, twice thrice......watch the video as many times ; Sujata's pallavi is simply mesmerizing.. Her graceful movements , the mudras, the movement of eyes, the expressions, her beauty, the undulations of the body ...they belong to another era. Great traditions of Odisha.

The more i watch this dance the more i am mesmerised.Lord Jagannath bless u Ma'm.
The cameraman cut off the feet 95% of the time. The footwork is integral! Keeping and complementing the beat of the music with the feet and anklets should not be missed!

What is the significance of the red color on the hands and feet?
@rajrajesh2137
6 жыл бұрын
It's called Alta or Mahawar in local language. It is one of the 16 bridal adornments of Hindu women. It is applied in all auspicious occasions and rituals by women. Male also apply them during weddings rituals.
@divinej3733
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It would be henna? I believe that henna helps with circulation or does something energy wise to the body. the science side of it. Most Hindu traditions seem to have a science to them, but correct me if I am wrong. This style of dance is so detailed and beautiful to watch.
@swethasridharan4015
5 жыл бұрын
Henna is a paste made from dried leaves powder or fresh leaves of a particular plant. The dye remains for a while but is not permanent. It is supposed to be auspicious and it has a cooling effect on the body. It is also used as a hair dye. Alta is mostly made now by synthetic material and is more red and goes away in a few washes. Odissi is really a beautiful dance form, yes.
@animikhachowdhury10a87
3 жыл бұрын
Hi. It's called alta or alitya and it is customarily applied on the hands and feet on many indian classical dances, like odissi (this form). It was worn by the devadasis who used to perform a similar form of dance in the jagannath temples of odissa. These days dancers often use henna or even markers, but the actual alta is a different substance entirely.
Mam pls start online odishi classes
