مسجد اقصیٰ جب بھی بیت المقدس کی بات ہوتی ہے، ہمیں ایک پشت پہلو عمارت دکھائی جاتی ہے جس پر سنہری رنگ کا گنبد ہے۔ یہ مسجد بیت المقدس نہیں ہے۔ اس مسجد کے باہر ایک چٹان تھی جسے آ ج بھی گنبد صخره یا انگریزی میں Dome of the rock کہتے ہیں یعنی چٹان پر بنا ہوا گنبد اور قبة الصخره کا یہی مطلب ہے ۔ یہاں وہ چٹان ہے جس کے ساتھ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے براق کو باندھا گیا تھا۔ یہاں ایک بڑا سا پتھر ہے جس کے اوپر یہ سنہری گنبد بنا ہوا ہے اور اس کے گرد ہشت پہلو عمارت ہے ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ والہ وسلم براق سے نیچے تشریف لاۓ تو اس کی لگام ایک سوراخ سے گزار کر براق کو وہاں باندھ دیا اور خود مسجد اقصیٰ تشریف لے گۓ جہاں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انبیاء علہیم الصلوة و السلام کی امامت فرمائی۔ اس پتھر کے ساتھ ہی تھوڑے فاصلے پر وہ مسجد الگ ہے۔ اب بڑے عرصے سے اصل مسجد اقصیٰ دکھائی نہیں جاتی بلکہ میرے خیال میں تو عام مسلمان کو یہ علم ہی نہیں ہے۔ سب اسی ہشت پہلو گنبد کو بیت المقدس سمجھتے ہیں اور شائد یہ جان بوجھ کر کیا جا رہا ہے کہ لوگوں کے ذہن سے اصل مسجد محو ہو جاۓ اور کبھی وہ گرا بھی دی جاۓ تو شور بپا نہ ہو اور لوگوں کو پتہ ہی نہ چلے کیونکہ یہ مسجد الگ ہے۔ وہ مسجد اسی گنبد صخره یا قبة الصخره کے ساتھ قریبا سو گز کے فاصلے پر ہے۔ قدیم مسجد بہت خوبصورت اور بہت وسیع ہے۔ انبیاء علہیم الصلٰوة والسلام کی تعداد کم و بیش سوا لاکھ بتائی جاتی ہے جو حتمی نہیں ہے۔ اس سے کم ہیں یا زیادہ ہیں لیکن جہاں حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سوا لاکھ انبیاء کی امامت فرمائی تو اس کا مطلب ہے کہ وہ اتنی عمارت ہے کہ اس میں اتنے لوگ نماز ادا کر سکتے ہیں ۔ تمام انبیاء علہیم الصلوة والسلام وہاں تشریف لاۓ اور ان کے ساتھ جو عہد الٰہی تھا وہ مکمل ہوا۔
