Amen Brother. Clint always had a foundational message in his movies that will live on longer than we do. It was always for good over bad, and cursing those who did nothing in the face of bad. "All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke.

@@Jonno2summit I've been using that saying a lot the past few months but I made it simpler for people who don't know that word. "for evil to exist, is for good men to do nothing." and........"woe unto those who say, Good is evil and evil is good." The Bible.

@@JohnSmith-uy7sv Wow, yeah, you get it. There is darkness and light, and are obviously opposed. They mingle in the twilight and dusk, but in true form cannot mix - like oil and water. You can put oil and water in a blender and they will mix for a while, but it is their nature to oppose each other and separate after a short while. They just come from different worlds, like good and evil. We have experienced the mixture of those 2, both personally and on the lighted stage, and that is the constant norm. But in the end they cannot remain mixed together as they are opposed so much. Oil and water. Good and Evil. I think Clint Eastwood was always calling for the veiwers of his movies to make a choice - to take a stand. To stand for something, but full-tilt and not halfass it. Basically, don't be a pussy in life.

Sad for those who were taken so young, but its nice for them that they can be remembered in such a famous movie

Never, to be honest, a huge fan of Eastwood, I have to admit that the names of either Snodgrass or Penny in a cast list usually had me eager to watch whatever was on offer.

Great post, thank you. Sad to see so many of these stars have past-on. I remember watching Pale Rider, first showing on the day it was released. The good ol' days....

A very good cast and most of them already had years of experience under there belts and that always helps to make a great movie. You don't see that kind of experience in movies now as much but times change I guess.

It was always a little unnerving to see Richard Kiel laughing & joking with other actors & actresses on Match Game in the 70s. For all I know,he was the kind of neighbor who'd lend you yard tools & then forget that he'd lent it to you. but, still, his portrayal as the heavy in so many roles was always direct. In The Last Detail,Michael Moriarty was the Lieutenant who accepted custody of Randy Quaid from Otis Young & Jack Nicholson.

So, I am watching your Vid, when you did Doug McGrath, nothing special until I read part of the list of film credits. PORKY'S showed up. I did not remember McGrath in Porky's, until IMDB reminded me of two parts, one with the 'Lassie' bit and then with all the coaches in the Office to hear Ms. Ballbreaker. Both ending with ,.... much, much 'laughter'. Thank you for that.

Eastwood fans should watch TV series Episodes of Rawhide (esp Season 7, 8) when he was a featured lead as 'Trail Boss', replacing Gil Favor (Eric Fleming). This change was intended i think, and turned out to b, his launching pad into the "spaghetti" Western Trilogy of Fistful of $$, Few $$ More, and Good Bad Ugly. You could see how he developed from Rawhide into his classic style of acting with body posture, his Eyes, without saying much.

Thought Sydney Penny was older than 13 when she was in Pale Rider, thought she was at least 16. Also i used to always think it was Sean Penn in Pale Rider, funny enough he went on to do Mystic River with Clint Eastwood.
