I agree Sharma and Tyagi's from Kumaon does not seem to belong to the group. Maybe Appurva Gupta just added that unthinkingly

hey bro these surnames are some common ones from North India e.g. Gupta(Banniya),Tyagi(Brahmin),Sharma(Brahmin), Bansal(baniya) are specifically UP. These people have good social standing but there are not many of them in Film Industry. On the other hand, Malhotra(Kshatriyas), Mehrotra(Khatri) etc are famous Punjabi surnames. These people have a good representation in Bollywood. So, they perpetuate these name through their movies.
