Pakistan's Firsts | First Radio Announcement | Pakistan at 75

Agha Salman Baqir, a veteran radio writer, speaks about the emotionally charged atmosphere during the announcement of Pakistan’s independence at the Lahore radio station on the night of Independence. His father, Agha Mohammad Baqir, was also present at the radio station at that historic hour.
An hour before Independence, All India Radio (AIR) started broadcasting a message every 15 minutes to draw the attention of its listeners. When the pendulum clock in the Studio No. 5 struck 12, the English announcement, marking the Dawn of Independence was broadcast. It was followed by the Urdu translation, which was written by Agha Mohammad Baqir, and presented by Mirza Mustafa Ali Hamadani.
