Pajero IN tank filter change

Hi all,
in this one we're changing the fuel filter inside of the fuel tank.
I've been having some power issues and this is the first item I want to check out to see if things improve.

Fantastic mate. I am about to change mine as well. I have similar issues with high end power loss under load (towing a caravan) on my MY15 NX Pajero, so I am also starting with the simple jobs, but I fear it will eventually be a trip to Dieselcare Toowoomba. Fingers crossed.

Hey Guy's, i just wanted to let everyone know that there is a common issue that most people seem to run into with there Gen 4 Pajero's at around the 200k+ mark that changing this filter resolves. at around 1/4 of fuel left in the tank the car will just stall with no warning and shutdown. all forums have pointed that the fuel flow is restricted due to the build up in the Filter . i personally had this issue happen last week while going through a round about. alot of research and reading and this was the culprit . have since changed and tested with no further issues. so this job could prevent alot of heart ache and/or phone call's from a frustrated wife stuck on the side of the road . I hope the above might help someone who is reading through here and save abit of forum research to diagnose this fault. thanks again Brett for a detailed video. i had the ipad propped up as i worked for a bit of reassurance that i was doing everything properly as i seem to end up doing with most Pajero related work 😀😀

Hi I have a 2011 NT and had my manifold cleaned by Maitland 4WD Centre 75 Lee St, Maitland NSW 2320 the car starts easier and picked up the fuel consumption slightly. The guys said one port was nearly totally blocked. It was done at 160000klms cost around $400 cheers love your content

Youre right, it was close Karl. I was knew where I was and felt it go up but it didnt feel that bad in the car. I did realise that my vlads mod is not working, Ive need to reconnect the ground ( I've made this mistake before when fitting other stuff and forgetting to refit it) So I only had the rear diff lock on and no traction control on the front end, but didn't know at the time. This is a perfect example of how the rear diff lock ONLY can bite you in the arse because it can cause the car to kick out sideways at the back end, just like you see here and is why the front ended up the right hand wall. Had I know the TC wasnt working because of the vlads thing, I would have anticipated the handling change. I didn't though. :) rookie mistake . But Mick was there to catch me :)

@@DENMONKEY does that traction control mod make a big difference? While I've had rear diff-locks in previous vehicles and have a factory one in my NW, thus understanding how great they are to have over an open diff, on many occasions I have found the Pajero's traction control system more effective than the diff-lock only in some situations, so I'm kind of guessing that the TC mod together with engaging the rear diff lock would have a profoundly positive effect in previously difficult/unpassable obstacles?

Hi i found my 2015 shogun/pajero 3.2 diesel loosing a small amount of power but only under load. so i stripped out my throttle body and inlet manifold and cleaned everything and boy it was full of crap and now what a difference it runs like a dream with more power.it was a big job but well worth it.I have now since fitted it with a catch can.... i hope this helps its worth checking out too see if yours needs cleaning.

yeah, its on the list of things to do anyway, so if I can find someone to do a good job for me it will go in and I'll report back. One guy I asked if he did them said yeah no worries. I figured great, this is the guy. then he showed me pics of this contraption he made that he attaches to his drill to clean them out. He was very impressed with himself. so much so that I could tell it had only been tested once and wasnt a regular thing for him. so I'm steering clear.

  • @stevenward5134

It sounds like I would steer clear as well. All I used was heavy industrial water based degreaser and a large plastic baby wash tub to wash and soak all of the parts. And when the inlet Manifold was off and you could see the valves I used a toothbrush and a wet and dry vacuum cleaner and a little elbow grease..

At 10:51 we see the fuel pump or is it just pipe at which end there is the filter and the pump is located else where? My goal is to find the fuel pump in order to hit it a bit with hammer since it doesn’t work now (read that it could make it run again).

Its either fuel pump running on their last legs or some injectores not working at 100%. Atleast of what you describe it seems that you dont have enough fuel pressure on high revs, you can check that with a cheap OBD2 and see what is the pressure of the fuel. It also may be something not remotely to fuel, i dont know the full details but in this video you are using 4x4 and lost power but you also say sometimes it works good sometimes it does not, i know the Pajeros diferential tends to break often you may want to make sure if its running on top noch or if its somehow sliping. Just some ideas im not a professional but it does not cost you a pound to have a look at it

I had an old delica that did a transfer box. When they sourced me one, it came off a pajero. So I have some idea on what that one feels like but this aint it. It's not only in 4wd . when I was having a sunday drive (before the change) , I got it too. So I don't think it's that. It's just the feel of it that says fuel, but could be wrong. Better not be injectors or fuel pump. $$$ :) I have several OBD readers so I could do a review on cheap ones that worked for the paj off ebay. So its easy enough for me to check. I did a scan on it and got no codes, but will check the specs and see how it is compared to those. cheers for the tips.

Afraid not, I literally just got some hose from supercheap, and changed everything I could see on the drivers side. I was away when I did it, so didnt have the camera etc to sort it. I can' remember what made me think it was that either but I think it was because it was heat related was in there somewhere
