If your pigeons are puffing up while they eat it’s probably because they are either agitated or they might have food stuck between they throat or the crop on their chest has your pigeons been acting oddly like dizzy or are they tired or not eating much sometimes if there’s a hawk or a bigger bird they might do what you describing

Birds tend to roll better when the distance from the tip of her tail to the tip of their wings are the same This creates less drag when they are rolling

Hi Sam. I won a pair of pigeons in a raffle. I'm pretty sure they are rollers. Not sure whether parlor or oriental. What's the difference. Never had pigeons but had been thinking about getting some as pets . Not necessarily for show or competition. Maybe that will change. Do you let your pigeons out for a flight? I really enjoyed this video. Great info. Thank you for sharing your knowlege. Hi from Mrlb. Australia.

Hello Smitty thank you for your videos. I’ve had a love for these birds since I was 12 years old. My father and his brother also raised and flee his birds as well and who was the one that brought them to my attention and I instantly fell in love. I started trying to breed my own strain (family bloodline) of birds. I entered them in pigeon shows at the L.A. county fair held once a year and the orange pigeon show as well as I was in the NATIONAL BIRMINGHAM ROLLER CLUB with many outstanding gentlemen helping me in the trade providing breeding pairs for me to start my own kit. I was also in Manaus other pigeon clubs including NATIONAL PIGEON ASSOCIATION ETC and everyone was so excited to see a young man so involved in the trade. In 1993-94 I flew competitively in the World Cup and was the most exciting time of my life. Life happened and I wasn’t able to keep them in my neighborhood in chino any longer plus it was starting to get to the end of my high school years and I started looking into what I wanted to do for a living which i decided being a automotive technician was for me and working at the local Chevrolet Dealership M.K. Smith Chevrolet took me in and paid my way thru technical school for the company and I was to busy for my birds but have been dreaming of the day to get back involved in the hobby. Is there any advice you may have for me as to find a few pairs of proven breeders to start my flock? Also are you local so I can possibly visit with my 9 year old daughter and wife to see the million stories of told of these fascinating animals and they won’t think I’m exaggerating of pigeons doing spins, tumbles, flips etc and returning home immediately for feed and to take care of young. Please respond I would like to see your birds and it would be a honor for my family and I to hear your knowledge in person, thank you in advance-Vincent (Vinny) Wright jr chino Ca-vincewrighttoo@gmail.com. P.S. my uncle I spoke of earlier is very ill with Alzheimer’s the beginning stage and he always was my educator with my birds and would definitely love to see your handsome stock and here your knowledge/thanks again!!!

You and Danny need to do a bare bones what ya need as a beginner to get into Rollers? Loft size, kit box, feed. meds, and amount of birds with a cost analysis or some good data on the cost? I think a lot of new comers to any sport do not stick with it because they "over extend" and buy more than they need and over kill everything on pens and setups.

I don't think length is a factor in speed, it's body length not feather length. The long cast is mostly in the stance, wing tips and tail. I find the fastest birds have the slight long cast to them not a short board bird. long feathers, not thick or wide, don't affect the speed in my opinion. There are many types that are exceptions to things but if the tail is flexible and the flights are thin and cur thru the air well this is the best I think. wide and thick feathers is what slows down birds as well as fluffy birds that have TOO much feather. You are talking about the birds you are pairing... if you just select for speed and roll then the type will take care of itself..
