Beautiful Kentucky is beautiful trees and brush so beautiful!! Appalachia!!
I was born in Paintsville Ky and have several family members that still live there. I was only 2 years old when my family moved from there to the state of Ohio. Also, I have a good friend and his first Cousin is Tyler Childers. Thank you for honoring my hometown.

@@realappalachia You are welcome. I was actually born in Tutor Key, which is a part of Paintsville.
I was raised in paintsville Kentucky. A place called Hammond rd, Whitehouse, chestnut. I miss it so much. So much has changed down there.❤

It’s a special place, for sure ❤️
I wish the schools were better there and more jobs in the area but this is amazing place to raise kids as far as the people! You won’t find many places that love kids and watch out for children like these mountains! I was raised here and raised my children here I will always love my mountain roots
Ok, you got me when I saw Chris Stapleton. He is incredibly talented.
Love the tour
I own a business in downtown Paintsville. Downtown actually, has 5 antique stores, restaurants, flower shops, boutiques, a renowned Professional Photographer, lawyers offices, coffee house (Chris actually shot his Dodge video there) frame shop, CBD store, monogram shop, bar/restaurant, dance studio, City Hall, SIPP Cinema, dentist, churches, eye doctor, funeral home, quilting shop, and a library. Just an FYI that people do come downtown more than ever. Lots of things to do and see. The downtown area is trying to grow.
Chris Stapleton was also valedictorian of his class in high school.. Kudos to him for his hands on work and for buying thousands of dollars of supplies , and his delivery of those supplies to the people in eastern Kentucky after the flooding. He and Tyler Childers both had benefit concerts for that area .

@@missycallihan7510 Everyone must live in caves then..After the floods people in Prestonsburg saw him several times, buying supplies. He usually doesn’t wear a sign or want a news crew around him.

@@TimMead-uu7ez I’m talking about no one ever heard of him, everyone knows each other and grew up around all in paintsville, I don’t believe he is from there, I lived there 26 years, and surely you don’t believe it just because the news tells you it to be true?
A beautiful town. Thanks so much for this awesome tour!!
Thank you, that was a very interesting tour. That flash back photo of old downtown Paintsville brought back a lot of memories when I saw the 5 and 10 cent store G. C. Murphy and the clothing store chain A. W. Cox. Everybody had to come to town to shop on Saturday. Melody, if I may paraphrase Loretta Lynn's song, "You got ice cream on your mind". Shane, I can't believe you didn't offer to stop and get her a "frozen custard". Keep up the good work.

well, I did miss out on a frozen custard but we did stop and grab some pizza in town :)
So much talent coming out of that town! Two great singers, songwriters and people Shane, I heard you say you were from Tazewell County, Virginia. Will you two be doing a show on Burkes Garden, “God’s Thumbprint?” That has to be one of the most unique ecosystems in the entire US.

we definitely will be doing Burkes Garden, I did a video on my old channel that did really well so we will be returning together hopefully in the near future
I just found your channel, and it's cool to see someone showcasing Appalachia. Although I am a Stapleton, I'm not closely related to Chris, but I have seen him many times in concert, and I have also seen Tyler Childers several times.

Great video 🧡
My hometown. You should have seen it in the 80’s. The downtown was full of shops. Then Wal-Mart arrived….

Great video! I've been to this town twice going to the Christian Appalachian Project. I guess everyone in that whole area goes to that one Walmart and those fast food restaurants.

Enjoy your Rides. My wife's roots are deep in that area. She has her Great and GrGreat and GrGr Grandparents buried on the hill sides around Paintsville. One of them was an Confederate Officer and another was a Magistrate in the early 1900's.
Hi you'll. My wife and I are coming out to Paintsville hopefully in April. I'm so glad I found your channel. Now it's time to explore it. Thank you but brother watch those rolling stops
Thank you for making this. My family is the Colvin's and Fairchild's from Paintsville. This is one of the most special places on planet Earth. The people, everything about Paintsville, Kentucky is magical. James Taylor goes to Carolina in his mind; I go to Paintsville. 🙏 😊

Paintsville was always a nice clean small town. It was once home of a minor league baseball team. Been there at the high school to watch their team play against the Prestonsburg Blackcats. Did some shopping, and bowling during my time there. Crystal Gayle was born at the Mayo Clinic there.
good job

Richard Thomas, the actor who portrayed John Boy on the TV series, "The Waltons" parents are from Paintsville. This was a great video! Of course, we cannot forget Billy Cyrus!!
Enjoying your channel! I am from northeast Alabama, which is more similar to eastern Tennessee and Kentucky than it is the rest of Alabama. We also have a town called Paint Rock in Jackson County. It was named for the river that runs through it. The cliffs where it originally flowed into the Tennessee River were brightly colored. Just thought that was neat because of the Paint Lick discussion.
See you got lost a little bit. Great that you spotlight areas like this.
Ok the town of Paintsville and Pikesville like for folks to call it VULLE makes the like yall more.
The country music museum is there, race track out 201, the stock yard would be interesting to a lot of people that aren’t use to that way of trading. Many many things that are wonderful that I wish were talked about and shown! The pay lake is a great family fun place as well as the paintsville lake. So many more! I love Paintsville!

Good job although it seemed that there were a few deja vu moments in there! ;-). Great to see the two of you even if it was only for a few moments. On vids like this where you're focused on a community, throwing some map views and where it is gives us an idea of where it is relative to other places in the region. And you'd be able to say things like, "just an hour north of Bristol..." Keep up the good work you two...
Me and my ex girlfriend are first dance was Tennessee Whiskey.

Coast down 201 off 23...runs from paintsville to webbville.
Must be several populated areas within a short drive… I am on the opposite side of the state with a city pop. Of 2,400 and nowhere close to having a lowes or Wal Mart. Hardees is about is big as it gets here, we’re 30 minutes from Lowes/Wal Mart, etc.

Although Pikeville bigger than Paintsville, it has way more businesses out on the main highway than a town it's size usually has.
John CC Mayo's fingerprints were all over those original Long Deed mineral contracts people signed. And Mayo was the local the big powers sent in to fleece em. And he got himself rich, too. A fellow from Ashland, I believe. At least, that's where he crawled off to...

John CC Mayo silver dollars he gave those farmers, for billions in mineral rights, before there were even roads.

And now, Paintsville, for one, is a rich as Midas, like all the little towns in south central Appalachia.
Under that big house is supposed to be a tunnel that goes under the road and I’m unsure where it goes but I believe they said it was blocked off now due to that being a school now n with the tunnel being a safety issue

Most people go to Nashville to be professional musicians and end up washing dishes for a living… Chris Stapleton goes to Nashville to become an engineer and ends up being a professional musician. Go figure…

Are Paintsville folks holding out on the census takers? That town looks WAY bigger than my hometown, which has a population of 15,000. I have never seen a town of 4,000 people that is that large.
Hi be great if you could make sure you have a clean windshield before filming to give viewers a better experience
