Painting With Mica Powders? ✨ How To Use Them In Acrylic Pouring 🧡💛💜 Tropical SheleeArt Bloom!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Want to learn how to use mica powders to create your own metallic paints? It’s very simple to use them, especially in a standard “bloom” pour. Color-shifting or single-color, they are really cool and fun!
Want to try some of the mica powders or chameleon powders? You can find them here!

“Blooms” were made made popular by Shelee Art. It uses a very different recipe to typical acrylic pours, but produces a stunning lace effect! There are three components to a bloom pour: the Pillow, the Colors, and the Cell Activator.
-Pillow paint is just your base coat that the colors sit on top of. It provides enough paint mass to stretch out a small design over the whole canvas. It’s typically white house paint, and I am using semigloss today.
-Your colors are standard acrylic paints, mixed with a different pouring medium. My medium is 3:1 Untinted Semigloss House Paint (a neutral base, not a white base for light colors) and Minwax Polycrylic. I then mix it with my colors or powders until they flow well but are still pretty thick feeling.
-Cell Activator is the magic ingredient that creates lacing when it is blown or swiped over the regular colors! Traditional cell activator is 1 part Amsterdam Titanium White to 3 parts Australian Floetrol, but Aussie floetrol is RIDICULOUSLY expensive if you don’t live there. So I use just the Amsterdam paint mixed with water until it flows off of a stick. The consistency is thinner than that of your other colors. It’s much less expensive and still makes great results!
Thanks ‪@ThePaintedDreamer‬ for the floating bloom inspiration!
My colors are:
Orchid (Let’s Resin Mica Powder)
Tangerine (Let’s Resin Mica Powder)
Magenta (Let’s Resin Chameleon Powder)
Lemon Yellow (Creative Inspirations)
Pillow (Valspar white semigloss house paint)
Cell Activator (Amsterdam Titanium White and water)

@@Terisemptycanvas I don’t think I’ve put the masking fluid on a bare canvas before. If I’m going to hand paint, I usually do it right on top of the pour!

Hi, this is beautiful. I just bought the set of 10 chameleon pigments and thought I'd watch a few videos before I use them. I mainly use my pigments in paint pours. Tried the bloom technique a few times and I will need more practice for sure. I hope the chameleons work for that!

Thank you for sharing! It is hard to see the shimmer effect when it is dry, I think if you used a flash or ring light we would be able to see it better! I really appreciate this video as I’m gathering lots of tips and info regarding the use of mica powders. Can you see the colour shift I wonder?
