PAINTING & WEATHERING MODERN CAMO - TIGER MODEL VBL FINISHED WITH TAMIYA PAINTS (FULL BUILD & PAINT)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Time for the complete paint job of the Tiger Model 1/35th scale French VBL (Véhicule Blindé Léger) armoured car. Called Build and Paint, these longer films show most principle steps in one single longer video. This time, we experimented with adding a running commentary. Let us know if you think it works. There are still the text slates up to see, so if you don’t like the commentary or music, you can switch it off.
The kit, which was kindly supplied by Tiger Model, is great and went together well. We customised it a bit and added our own touches.
Watch the build and all of the paint stages. We used Tamiya products in the main, with some painting done with Vallejo acrylics. You’ll see Tamiya enamels as well as the more usual acrylics. Plus, we get to use lots of fun accessories on the inside.
Sit back, grab a drink and watch pretty much everything we did to get the final finish.
See the following products in the film
Tamiya extra thin liquid cement glue
Tamiya white liquid surface primer, Nato acrylics, enamels and diorama texture paint
Accessories where created with Tamiya Quick Type Putty - • MAKING YOUR OWN STOWAG...

We also used Deluxe Materials modelling products extensively

Not that I want to draw an inordinate amount of attention to it, but I like seeing the mistakes. Seeing more competent modellers than I make the same kinds of errors, sort of makes me feel better about my own happy little accidents. Watching you recover from missteps is hugely informative as well.

We have a video on this topic (search Johnsons Klear), we still have some bottles bought when we knew it was ceasing and then went on a bit of cupboard archeology and located a one or two left-over bottles - it was like finding gold! There are modern equivalents though so don't fret.

Thank you for the video. Its very helpful that when you make a mistake you show it, and show how you corrected it. I'm looking for a spray booth at the moment. Would you be kind enough to tell me the make and model of the one in the video and if you recommend it? I'm very concerned about health. Do you use a mask while spraying or is the booth sufficient? Thank you kindly.

  • @scalewarmachines

We use an SB-88 spraybooth which you can see if you search our videos and look for The Airbrush Show episode on that unit. You should really use both an extractor and a mask (never can be too careful), however, for the needs of our videos we don't always use an extractor, but we use a respirator.

On which ratio did you mix the flesh tone, sandy yellow and white to get that nice desert tone?

  • @scalewarmachines

    @scalewarmachines

    4 жыл бұрын

Sorry, have absolutely no idea! Just mixed it up pretty randomly to match a photo and put it in a jar for use on the project, so never really recorded the ratio. The flesh and white will be small proportions though.
