Hi Sarah, I'm so happy you enjoyed this video. Like most new ideas this started out as an experiment in making interesting marks with watercolor. Once I started blowing the paint with a straw I immediately saw the flower shapes appear. Because negative painting is ingrained in my brain it intrigued me more and more so I kept pushing this idea until I achieved the results I wanted. Well, I’ve never had a more productive morning, woke up at 3:30 and having watched this yesterday, I had to get up and try! I’m waiting for my second layer to dry now. Not as beautiful as yours, but then it’s my first time. 😅 thanks for the video!

Hi Deb. I use Holbein and Daniel Smith tube watercolor paints. No ink pens. I rarely add any other medium to my watercolor paintings. Happy painting 😊

Hi Danielle I'm glad you like the flower painting AND I bet you could paint a simpler version of this. Try blowing the paint and finding the flower shapes & negative paint around them. Don't try painting any other layers. Practice this until you feel like you can see the flower shapes. Then you might want to try adding a 2nd layer. You can do this! Please let me know if you try this, Lorraine

Hi Danielle, I posted a video on blowing paint to make flowers but It's only one layer. I thought about how you felt you couldn't do this and I'm sure you are not alone in those thoughts.
