I really love new terminators because they dont look like they took a dump in the power armor, like the old ones with legs spread miles away.

the poopstance is the best part of the old models!
It is wholesome that GW has kept the essentially same design for 30 years. They are still the same, the plastic one is just modernised. Absolutely perfect!

It's so weird just how similar they really are, down to the hydraulic-looking things on the legs. It's amazing

They always looked so goony though. Like I like the designs but nothing GW space marines have looks like "cool" the funny proportions and flav is just like dr who t ype stuff to me. Battletech (original designs not the anime ones) went from really goony to really cool though.

Well they tried to get rid of it with the gravis armour but it is so bad compared to the old terminator design they understood they had to keep the old terminators. Getting the old thing bigger and better was always the way to go.
The newer models look amazing

@@theMedicatedCitizen NOt poseable, BUT, the arms sit flat against the torso so if you were careful you could cut the arms off at the shoulder joint and rotate them up or down for some variation. Get some of them to point their guns up instead of at the floor etc. So there's some options there if you're handy with a knife.

Blimey, that is a size difference. I long for the days we'd pop in shop and pick up a blistered Terminator for £3, truly the golden years.
Wow seeing the scale creep next to the miniatures really sets it in. The old models were 28mm while the new ones are closer to 32mm with heroic proportions

@@Beatnik59 Ok but do you expect them to keep making the same model over and over? Like as for me who cares honestly there still terminators and there going to introduce more hobbyists and newbies. They kept all the same design and features but made them true scale to what they were supposed to be
Those blister packs take me back... Beautiful result on both models!
Yup you’ve just gave me a scheme for my army , thank you guys for sharing love it
I’ve just stripped my original blood angels painted terminators from around 1990. I’ve also picked up a copy of the Laviathan box set at the weekend. A return to modelling and gaming after a break of over 25yrs. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
It's neat seeing the og terminators, but I love the new ones proportions. The colors that were used here are gorgeous
Oh emperor 😱 I remember building those metal marines, clean up was a task especially when they had those stripes of excess metal dangling everywhere but they were better than the plastic version , you should have done the original paint scheme blood angels orange 😁 for historic value ( I might unretire my pot along with the wash on just one figure when I get the models)
Seeing how amazing these turned out, i really wish you gad done a more in depth tutorial on the red. Its really pops!
I'm new to all this war hammer and i cant believe how amazing you painted those figure but you said it was just something quick lol that's exactly how i'm wanting my army to look like when i finish getting them all, the red looked insanely good.
Ah the memories. I had a blood angel army back then. Loved them so much.
Great video Andy! Love a little nostalgia combined with some efficient painting techniques.
That red is absolutely incredible, love the matte finish.
I think the old models could be easily used as terminator armor for inquisitors and take the advantage of the reduced scale
That was a lovely bit of Terminator airbrushing - I'll certainly have to give that technique a go, but with blue for my Crimson Fists sometime! Thanks for the great video.
That color just pops so nice. Love it!
Superb vid. Looks like I have a few paints to add to the collection! The AK paints look really nice to use
Absolutely fantastic battle ready scheme, they look wonderful
Fond memories indeed! Great video, thank you, interesting alternatives to hatw I first thought of there.
More terminators from Andy! It was apparent you were having fun and what a great result
Excellent brush control shows real talent. Brilliant.
Brought back memories! Memories of night after night in the 90's sucking on paint brushes to sharpen the edge before applying to the model.... Lead.... Oh well, we all turned out ok, didn't we!?
Wow, these look clean! I love it.
Saw this terminator at the weekend. It is really bright in person. Also Andy I found another couple of squishy painting handles in my stash.
The paintjobs both look amazing
They look great. Big boi and a stumpy squat. Wicked paint job. Cheers
Been a diehard IXth collector and general tragic since ‘89 and I’ve gotta say they get my tick of approval! 🩸
This looks fantastic, and it's a wonderful inspiration. Something fun, 30 years is about 10,950 days or roughly the difference between the Horus Heresy and the current Imperium give or take a few thousand years!
Beautiful look. My first 40k minis were a blister of Chaos Terminators around the same year as you mentioned. Always loved em.

Great work! The contrast of the red and black looks great. I would also recommend Baal Red for a super vibrant red - with airbrush it works great
It's great to see them side by side

DAMMIT. I was HOPING this was a coloring tutorial, I love this scheme for BA
1994 Terminators were my first love too. But man was the scale off!
I still have a lot of those old ones I painted about 30 years ago when I was 7-8, loved painting then. These days I would die before painting, it's weird how much you can change.
The ak paints are my go to paints and I enjoy working with them so much. Cool to see them get some love on this channel
You did an amazing job on both, but the metal one really knocked it out the park with an up to date look. Truly amazing how much detail you got out of it. Really makes me want to grab some metal marines and have a go at it!

Stunning result. Nice comparison. What I would like most, if they could scale down the new plastic version down to the "old" size.
While still being a fan of the old school figs, gotta admit the new GW plastic stuffs are splendid
I do love those old metal termies even seeing how tiny they are by comparison now. That sculpt was the first mini I bought way back at the tail end of 2nd edition. Painted it up in blood angels colours as well.

Wow, I hadn't seen a comparison of the new and old minis next to each other. Those Terminators got chonked up!
Cant wait for the new terminators to get a multipart kit. I have some deathwing terminators that need big boy legs.
i just wanna say that you paint really well. when i got in the hobby back into 1993 i hung the marines on a string and primed them all at once. cause i wanted to get an army out quick.
This red is gorgeous!
For something you did "real quick" it looks amazing.
The black and red looks so good
Wow, the new ones are huuuuuuge!
The red is supercool!!
oml that gradient on the red was so CLEAN N CRISP SHEEEEEEEESHHH im certain sanguinius would approve!
that red does look amazing
In the 90's GW sold a palm drill for peanuts. Great little tool, I still use it now
This looks so good. That is some satisfying looking airbrushing!
Looks great
Looking forward to painting those mew terminators. Also never got why so many people hate on the suppressors is a fun unit
God that space marine bike box. Could never afford this hobby, but damn did I love oogling those boxes.
Your a awsome painter man. That non metallic looks sharp !
I love this so much.
Wayne England art on the blister pack!!
Awsome video! And Bring back the blister
the plastic termies from the late 90s were my first models alongside the tiny monopose 2nd ed marines that still came in the paint set around 2001. I think I painted the red with a nice thick coat of humbrol enamel so they looked like boiled sweets. I don't have the originals any more, but I bought some of the same models a couple of years ago and painted them in the scheme I was trying to aim for when I was 10. Super excited for the new models they finally look like the sort of walking tanks that I always imagined while keeping the same classic design.

14:56 "never speak to me or my battle-brother ever again"
First got terminators like 3 days ago. Just started with the hobby, its the first set i bought :D
13:54 I’ve always done the same type of damage on my space marines. I’ve heard that unpainted ceramite is the colour of GW grey plastic. My reasoning is that it looks silvery when polished, so the damage brings out that sheen.
@TrashbashMan

I pretty much cover every piece of armor with a metallic silver ink (Sakura i think?) over the primer before doing the actual painting. I'm using cheap craft paint on my models so if that won't stick properly or if i'm too rough and painted areas rub off on accident it's just instant battle damage. Plus using the silver can actually give a little shiny highlights trough thinned layers of paint which is a pretty neat feature as well
Damn, terminators used to be £5 apiece back in the '90s? That was expensive!
@Dorsidwarf

in 1997 that would be the equivalent of £46 for a squad of five today ! Usually gw models are comparatively more expensive these days

I've just recently gotten quite carried away with getting back to my early memories of 1st edition spacehulk now playing with my daughter.. And of course now I have 2 3d printers and the ability to model and print amazing space hulk terrain.. ffw months on now im painting different chapters of squads of Terminators with her and building an advanced space hulk rule set ..that will be pretty damn awesome..
Great video!!! Just imagine how good those models will look when you learn to paint well!
... just started the vid, and you are showing that magazine from way back when and im sitting here like "i remember buying that damn mag... wtf? how old am I again? HAHA
Red shoulder pads are spot on. It was only the sergeants that had the black ones.
I started in '96 as well. Started with Space Marines in 40k and Lizardmen in fantasy, Switched over to Imperial Guard once the 2003 Cadian rework came about, but stuck with Lizardmen all the way to Total War. I had a hard time collecting armies before they changed editions so eventually I gave up. I considered coming back in 5th and 6th ed I even bough the rulebook, but the rapid switch to 7th put me off for good.
My god those new sculpts are so chonky, Space hulk got me into 40k and now I can't wait to lay my hands on some of these. The Primaris are a joy to paint over the Astarte's so I can't wait to grab some of these bad boys.
How awesome 😉😉
I started with Space Hulk 2, so Blood Angels Terminators are as nostalgic as it gets for me.
Sick
Contrast Baal red is insane through the airbrush over a zenithal
I like to put some khorne red and purple in the dark areas, because your blood and skin has a lot of blue in it. Like the Veins you see through your skin. This way, you can make your red of blood angels really look like real blood. But i also like your colors aswell. I personally just don't like the darkest spot to be black.
Red⭐️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Space Wolves Cyclone Terminator was also one of the first I ever bought 🙂
I still have the original Termie box I bought in spring of '90.
