I enjoyed watching you paint the sailboats and water. I live in Connecticut near the Sound and Connecticut river. This was very helpful when I start back painting outside in various places here. Thank you

Thank you so much! I think the skies look different here on the coast than they do in the prairies.

Very nice painting, and equally nice instructions. I find your work original and inspiring. I read the article by Rbt. Carsten about your work recently in "Watercolor Artist" (summer 2022 edition). The magazine cover shot was spectacular. You certainly seem to have a relationship with water and the sea. Thanks for the tutorial.

Thank you Poppy for this wonderfully explained video! I learned so much especially using clear water under the blue to dilute the clouds. I belong to the Toronto Watercolour Society.

Thank you for sharing your Plein air painting experience Poppy. I also live by the water and love to sit on the beach and sketch the ever-moving water. What kind of paper do you prefer for Plein air? This one looks like 300lbs? Just found your website. I am impressed with your body of work. Congratulations!

Hi Marie Thanks for your message. I use 140 lb paper most of the time, rough texture. I have found no advantage when I used the 300 lb.

@@poppybalserart Thank you! I saw your video about travel sketching. I am making my sketchbook with Fabriano Artistico 140lbs. Looking forward to documenting my adventures in watercolor! Originally from Canada, I now live on the island of Cozumel. Blue waters and palm trees are my backdrops!

Hi, Val NLN Thank you! I use either 140lb or 300 lb. this one was on 140 lb. I paint on it unstretched, and then flatten it after the fact if it needs it.
