    Good morning Tyler. Chicken coop is coming right along! Now, when you put the roosts up, just remember….shoulder high to you, opposite side of the nest boxes and use a flat board like a 2x4 so during winter they can roost flat enough to cover their feet to protect from frostbite.Oh! And, feeders and waters should be hung at the chickens shoulder height to keep them clean and so they don’t scratch the feed out. 😊 just a few ideas. (Been keeping chickens many many years. About 50yrs) oh and for roofline vents. Get a drill and use the thing for door knob holes, cover the holes with hardware cloth, or rabbit fence. If you paint the inside roof a “sky blue” you will not get wasps building in there. 😊 just a little friendly advise from an old lady farm girl.❤

    Chicken coop looks great. FYI 👉 on the fence. Take some foot long pieces of re-bar, with a candy cane bend on one end and push them into the ground and hook the bottom of your coop fence to it to keep raccoons, armadillos, and coyotes, foxes, etc. from nuzzling their sneaky little heads under the fence wire. You could use some cut up coat hangers and make a v-shape or u- shape upside down, or buy a small sized spool of a heavy gauge steel fence wire and cut and bend to use, and pin down fence bottom about every 6 to 8 feet. Good job on your coop! Also, yes, a mix of magnet fishing and farming videos would be great. 🎉

    70/30 paint to water is normally a good mix for the Wagner airless. The more water you put in, the more coats you're going to need for risk coverage. Acrylic paint is water-based, so you can't put too much.

    Building this coop is a great experience with Owen. He's about willing to try anything ❤ If you paint the inside, let it air out a couple of days for the paint to finish drying and fumes to settle. Even though the paint looks and feels dry there's chemicals still at work. I painted cars in tje auto industry and even when the cars go through ovens the paint is considered green up the about 7 days. Wood is more porous. I t might be a help that it's sitting with full sun ❤❤❤

    The chicken condo. For ventilation I would use swing open doors. Just cut open your plywood put some hinges on it and a latch. That way you can open it during the summer and close it in the winter. Use some of your left over chicken wire to cover the openings to keep unwanted critters out

  • @Mynameis7nad
    @Mynameis7nad29 күн бұрын

    Definitely need ventilation. Its a dark color and is going to suck up heat. Id cut 6-8 inches off below the roof and put chicken wire between the studs then in the winter you can screw the pieces you cut off back on. Or leave it hinged and make fold down doors. Then put a few roost poles or 2x4s up there so they can catch a breeze and be cool at night.

    I have commented on each chicken coop video you must cut bwntelation holes and pour the Louver covers on them. Two vents on two idea of the coop near the top. On opposite sides of each other. Your chickens will die if you don’t. When it’s freezing cold the moisture from them breathing will freeze their lungs And I summer to allow food ventilation. This is a must. Please get some vents put in.

    Tyler, if you have no ventilation, you will have a bunch of dead chicks. It's never too late to research building the coop, so get going & pick up suggestions from friends, etc. I would have painted it red with white trim, but that's just me.

    If I can give you one tip. You live in a northern climate. Do not provide any heat for your chickens when the cold weather hits, they will eat grit to stay warm. If you provide heat and a storm takes out your power, they will die of exposure. They will make their own heat. Enjoy breakfast

    you could go with vinyl siding and spend about the same amount. Also with vinyl siding you don't have to repaint in 3-4 years and the wood can be reused later.

  • @Mynameis7nad
    @Mynameis7nad29 күн бұрын

    Next time just use primed t11 instead of plywood. Its the osb that is primes and looks like siding. Cheaper than treated plywood then and is sealed so you just trim and caulk then paint with 1 or 2 coats of cheap normal paint.

    Great job. I think choosing that color for the paint will blend the coop into the surroundings and draw less attention to your chickens. A suggestion for the set up inside, put a shelf under your perching boards for easier clean up. Then you only have to scrape it off with a putty knife and less time to clean the area and keep it fly free. Hoping you chick will love their new coop. 🐤🐥🐤💖

    With those dark colors that turned into an oven now.. you should knock those small pieces of board off the top and put some sort of mesh over it. That way the chickens will get light and air. Plus having grown up in farm country I'll tell you now that most chicken coops have small doors at the bottom for the chickens to get in and out. In the big door for you to go in and get the eggs. I'd look at chicken coops online if I was you
