Painting my car NARDO GREY with PRIMER! $100 DIY respray

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Finally got the chance to realise a project I'd had in mind for about 2 years. Using only grey primer and clear coat, I made a huge improvement to the appearance of the Foz for only $120AUD ( $95USD / £67 / €77 ).
It's not a perfect paint job and there's a few things I'd do differently if I did it again, but it was a fun experiment with great results for the price. It's a definite improvement for the car and it's built my skill level up just that bit more for the future.
I wore a mask for most of the painting despite it being outdoors due to the sheer volume of paint being sprayed. If you're doing this yourself, make sure you also notify your insurance company to tell them you've changed the car's colour (you can usually do this online and it won't bother them - just be prepared for a slight increase in your premium if you're painting the car a darker colour as it makes it more likely to be hit at night).
Overall this was well worth it and another project ticked off the list! If you have any questions drop them below 👇

5 month update: Paint job holding up reasonably well all things considered, but starting to show its age (and cost) a little. Some crows feet defects have formed on the bonnet and around the key barrel on the driver's door. I believe this is because the bonnet was the least thoroughly painted panel, and the slight warping of the door panel when using the key has probably unsettled the clear coat. In fairness, the car hasn't been washed at all since painting. Hard to say if this wouldn't have occurred with a proper paint underneath the clear coat. If I'm still in touch with the car in July I'll do a 1-year update!

Looks good, be interesting to see how long it lasts with no prep work done for the primer to bond to not criticism just an observation , keep us updated.

Looks good stezman, be interested to see how it lasts. Also, you can get yourself different nozzles for the spray cans that might help solve that issue you mentioned with the spray pattern?
